Investigation Report on Mining Area Pollution
I. Background and Purpose of the Investigation
In recent years, the exploitation and utilization of mineral
resources in China has been increasing, resulting in the growing
problem of pollution in mining areas. In order to solve this
problem, the research group decided to conduct an in-depth investigation into the pollution situation in mining areas to further
understand the status of mining area pollution and provide
scientific basis for environmental protection work.
II. Research Methods and Process
1. Literature Review: By consulting relevant literature, we gained
an understanding of the current situation and impact of mining area
pollution both domestically and internationally.
2. Field Investigation: We selected a mining area for investigation,
collected and analyzed samples of pollutants and conducted
interviews with relevant local departments.
III. Research Findings and Analysis
Based on the investigation, we obtained the following results and
analysis:
1. The main sources of pollution in mining areas are wastewater,
exhaust gas, and solid waste. Wastewater mainly comes from the
discharge during mining, mineral processing, and smelting
processes; exhaust gas primarily comes from ore roasting and
tailings treatment processes; and solid waste includes tailings, slag,
and waste rocks.
2. The main pollutants in mining areas are heavy metals, ore dust,
and harmful gases. Heavy metal pollution is one of the main
problems in mining area pollution, posing a serious threat to soil
and groundwater; ore dust can have an impact on the surrounding
environment and human health; the emission of harmful gases can
lead to air pollution.
3. Mining area pollution has serious impacts on the environment
and human health. Land near mining areas is severely polluted,
agricultural land loses fertility, water sources are contaminated, causing great difficulties for agriculture and local residents' lives;
mine workers are exposed to harmful gases and heavy metals for
long periods of time, making them susceptible to occupational
diseases.
IV. Research Interviews and Policy Recommendations
The research group also conducted interviews with relevant local
departments and made the following policy recommendations
regarding mining area pollution issues:
1. Strengthen the regulation of pollution emissions in mining areas,
increase monitoring efforts, and ensure compliance with
environmental protection standards.
2. Increase environmental governance efforts in mining areas,
advocate for clean production technologies and equipment, and
reduce pollutant emissions.
3. Pay attention to the treatment of wastewater and solid waste,
establish standardized treatment processes and facilities, and
improve treatment efficiency.
4. Strengthen the delineation and management of prohibited areas
in mining areas to ensure the safety of the surrounding
environment and the health of the population.
V. Conclusion
Through this investigation, we have gained a profound
understanding of the severity and urgency of mining area pollution
issues. It is necessary to enhance environmental protection efforts
and promote the transformation of the mining industry towards
green and sustainable development.
