My little legs got tired from walking around and seeing all the different buildings, gardens, and museums. But it was totally worth it to imagine what life must have been like for the royalty who lived there. My favorite areas were the Imperial Garden with its pretty landscapes and the Palace of Heavenly Purity where the emperors held important ceremonies.After a few days taking in the historical sights of Beijing, we went to visit my grandparents at their home in a nearby town. I was really happy to see them because I hadn't gotten to spend much time with them since we live so far apart. Grandma doted on us by cooking all my favorite Chinese dishes like dumplings, sweet and sour pork, and hot pot. She always makes enough food to feed a small army! Grandpa took us fishing by a peacefullake and taught Mei Mei and me some fun games to play with our cousins.One day while we were at my grandparents' place, my uncle surprised us by saying he had gotten tickets for us all to go see a famous Chinese acrobat show! I had seen acrobats performing on TV before, but never in person. The performers at this show were incredible - they did all sorts of amazing flips, balancing acts, and contortions that seemed completely impossible for the human body. At one point, they stacked up chairs into a huge tower and had acrobats doing somersaults from one chair to the next. It was both thrilling and a little bit scary to watch! Whenever they did a particularly difficult stunt, the whole audience would gasp in anticipation. By the end of the show, my hands were sore from clapping so much. It was definitely the most exhilarating live performance I've ever seen.All too soon, our vacation was coming to an end and it was time to make the journey back home to Wenzhou. Even though I was sad to leave my grandparents, I was bursting with excitement to tell all my friends about my amazing adventures in Beijing.
