I remember my grandpa told me that bicycle was introduced in China in the late 19th century. Then in 1960s, 1970s, when I was a young man, bicycle along with sewing machine and watch became the necessary three-major-items of marriage. Bicycle became really popular in the 1980s, it was the most important and most universal vehicle at that moment, the famous brands included “Yong jiu”, “Fenghuang”, “Feige”. The flow of thousands of bicycles during the rush hour was extremly awesome which made China became “The Kingdom of Bicycle”. You might cannot realize that kind of feeling, but you have to know who had a bicycle at that time woule be jealous by others, especially our young guys.Q: But a bicycle must be very expensive at that time, right?A: Certainly! One bicycle costed about 200 yuanat that time while people’s salary just a few dozen yuan. It’s very precious.Q: Em, what about bus? When buses appeared? And how the buses of today compare with the buses when you were young?A: Haerbin’s buses were developed in the 1950s. What’s more, the buses’ environment and situation were not very well when compared with the buses of today.Q: Well, I got it. How life was in your 20s’, 30s’, and 40s’? Like the liquor, you had to buy it in state-run stores with certificate. If you wanted more, you might suppose to borrow the certificate from other family which was begrudge to buy the liquor , for the numeber of liquor was limited. And later, the individual business appeared and became more and more, so you could buy anything with money in stores. Since followed the policy of reform and opening, our daily lives became more and more colorful.Q: Do you rememberhow life changed when tall building were built? You can see, there are tall building everywhere nowadays.Q: What do you miss about the old days and what you do not miss? A: What I miss... May be the simplicity and kindness of those people, besides, at that time, they worked harder and braver. But I enjoy the high life quality of today, comprehensive health care system, varieties of entertainments, convenient public transit, etc. You know, the life in the old days is difficult.A: Yeah, sure it is. Alright then, thank to your narration, I know more details about the life in the old days, thank you!Q:It’s my pleasure!
Q:It’s our great honor to have you here. How many times have you been to Macau?A:Twice.Q:How do you like Macau for this visit?A:Numerous changes occurred here. It has been ten-odd years, nearly twenty years since my last visit, and I’m almost a total stranger here now.Q:So you think Macau is totally different?A:Yes. Since I’ve been here for just a few days, I only hung around the casinos, which I felt is bigger than the Las Vegas’.Q:Gambling industry in Macau has exceeded that in Las Vegas for several years.A:That’s amazing. We Chinese are quite wealthy these days.Q:That’s true. We have a longer history as a wealthy nation instead of being a backward one and I guess this may contribute partly to your successful production---Empresses in the Palace. Well, then what do you think about this festival?A:I just arrived here and don’t quite familiar with Macau yet, but as far as I can see, it is quite promising. To hold this kind of events is really your middle name.Q:Because we have a rich government.A:Macau is a favorable destination for tourism, vacation trips and leisure entertainment, and exactly where the film and TV industry belongs to. Besides having fun in casinos, travelers also have alternatives and one of them is to watch movies and TV shows. In that light, Macau properly positioned itself in developing this industry. In my opinion, to boost this industry, Macau cannot confine to the festival only, it should develop film production, innovation and pre- andpost-processing as well. I heard that you are going to build your own film academy for related education, which I think is quite good.Q:Yes. We should spare no effort in nurturing the people and expanding this industry.A:Any big movements in this industry that the Macau government is going to take should include the practice of introducing somelarge-sized companies with good reputation to Macau. Through tax reliefs and land policies cooperated with Zhuhai city and other parts ofmainland, Macau can bring in a lot of related companies. The reduction and exemption of tax and other privileges can also attract a few many famous stars, directors and scriptwriters to Macau. By doing so, the film and TV industry can enjoy a full development, which enables Macau to show the world a business card entitled with not only the gambling kingdom, but also the cultural centre. The film and TV industry is a hi-tech sector consisted of two levels. One is the hi-tech producing process such as special effects, and that is within our reach. And the other is hi-tech broadcasting process including satellite transmitter and all kinds of high-tech carrier. These two processes are enough to make this industry a trend-leader in the whole cultural industry. That’s why film and TV industry is the indispensable part of culture industry. It’s very meaningful to held the festival in Macau, but don’t only focus on this, for that will be too weak to hold an international festival by Macau itself.Q:Through collective efforts, we can forge this space-limited place the home for film and TV industry.A:Just like Macau, HK is not big in scale, but its film and TV industry is outstanding. The key reason for such a success lies in its mature production sector. We cannot talk about HK’s film and TV industry without mentioning the TVB, the pillar of this giant industry. However, the film and TV industries in the whole world have to get up their nerve while facing the Hollywood. Even though, HK retains a distinctidentity and finds its way in the market of China mainland and the Chinese communities.Q:That strength is worth learning.A:Macau and Hong Kong share a great advantage in production over the mainland, that is, you do not have the supervision system. With the preferential policies given to Macau the same as HK andnon-censorship restraint, it is no doubt that the wise Chinese can create unparalleled productions. Thus, I am optimistic about a brighter future of Macau’s film and TV industry.Q:Thank you very much for this interview. We hope to see you coming more to Macau as well as our festival.Journalist: Jia Li Kang (special correspondent)。

As a journalist, I have had the opportunity to interview a wide range of people, from celebrities to everyday individuals with extraordinary stories. Each interview has its own unique challenges and rewards, and I have learned a lot from each one.One of the most memorable interviews I conducted was with a famous musician. I was nervous at first, but I reminded myself to stay calm and professional. I prepared a list of questions beforehand, but I also made sure tolisten carefully to his responses and ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation flowing. The interview went smoothly, and I was able to capture some great quotes and insights from the musician.Another interesting interview I had was with a survivor of a natural disaster. This interview was emotionally challenging, as the survivor shared their harrowing experience of the disaster. I had to be sensitive andempathetic, while also maintaining my professionalism. It was a humbling experience to hear their story and I felt honored to be able to share it with the world.

Alright then, thank to your narration, I know more details about the life in the old days, thank you!Q:It’s my pleasure!
