力量(power)、速度(speed)、步伐(step)、体操、街舞、自由组合(freestyle)跳绳作为我国优秀的民间传统体育项目，因其具有简便易行、花样繁多、安全性高等特点，深受大众喜爱，尤其像上海这样寸土寸金、运动空间受限的国际化大城市，更加受到市民的青睐。
花样跳绳则是在传统跳绳的基础上融合舞蹈、技巧、武术、街舞和音乐等多种运动及艺术形式，是一项集健身、休闲、娱乐、竞技和表演等多功能于一体的运动项目。
交互绳作为花样跳绳项目中的一个重要单项，别于传统的跳绳，需两人同时摇动两根绳子，绳中有人或多人跳跃，该项目有效地融合了舞蹈等时尚元素，表演队伍需要跟随不同的音乐节拍跃动，在表演时尤其需要团队合作和创意编排。
交互绳比赛（DDC）是一项国际性的比赛。
交互绳大赛则是一个国际性赛事，从2002年开始举办，目前已有美国、日本、法国、比利时、韩国、印度和香港等八个国家和地区每年举办巡回赛，每个巡回赛的冠军将有机会参加世界交互绳大赛，2015年7月26日世界交互绳大赛将在法国巴黎举办。
世界交互绳大赛的宗旨是将交互绳这个项目推广到世界各地。
回首过去十多年的赛事发展历程，首届世界交互绳大赛只有11支参赛队伍，如今每年有一百多支队伍参赛。
并发展了比利时、新加坡、美国等多个分赛区。
