ISI是世界闻名的从事科技信息研究、出版和服务的机构。
著名的科技信息检索工具《科学引文索引》（Science Citation Index，简称SCI）即是ISI的产品。
SCI通过独特的引文索引法揭示科技文献之间的内在逻辑与联系，反映文献之间引用与被引用的关系，体现了科学和技术的发展过程，同时帮助研究人员了解自己著作的被引用率和持续时间，从而估计其影响力。
多年来，SCI在科学界得到了广泛的应用，发表的学术论文被SCI 收录或引用的数量，已被世界上许多大学作为评价学术水平的一个重要标准，大大促进了科学研究的发展。
《外文全文数据库》实验报告一、实验目的⒈了解熟悉轻院图书馆订购的各种外文全文数据库的使用方法。
⒉重点掌握EBSCO、Springerlink、Elsevier、Scopus数据库的检索途径及使用方法。
二、实验要求利用学过的外文全文数据库查找食品、烟草等方面的外文文献（EBSCO、Springerlink、Elsevier、Scopus数据库四个中任选两个），要求查出外文期刊论文各1篇，写出所用检索系统、检索操作过程、步骤、文献外表特征（篇名、作者、所发表刊物、年期号、文章所在页码等）以及内容摘要。
