是否允许公共场合吸烟英语作文Smoking is a controversial issue that has sparked debates around the world. One of the key questions at the center of this debate is whether smoking should be allowed in public places. In my opinion, smoking should not be permitted in public places due to several reasons.First and foremost, smoking in public places poses a serious health risk to non-smokers who are involuntarily exposed to secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke contains over 7,000 chemicals, many of which are toxic and can cause various health problems, including respiratory issues, heart disease, and even cancer. Allowing smoking in public places not only infringes on the rights of non-smokers to breathe clean air but also endangers their health.Furthermore, smoking in public places contributes to environmental pollution. Cigarette butts, which are the most common form of litter, are not biodegradable and can take years to decompose. Discarded cigarette butts also release harmful chemicals into the environment, contaminating soil and water sources. By prohibiting smoking in public places, we can help reduce environmental pollution and create cleaner and healthier spaces for everyone.Additionally, smoking in public places sets a negative example, especially for children and young people. Public places, such as parks, beaches, and outdoor dining areas, should be safe and healthy environments for everyone. Allowing smoking in these spaces normalizes the behavior and sends the wrong message that smoking is acceptable. By enforcing smoke-free policies in public places, we can promote a culture of health and well-being, discouraging smoking and protecting the public from the harms of tobacco use.In conclusion, I firmly believe that smoking should not be allowed in public places. By implementing smoke-free policies, we can protect non-smokers from the dangers of secondhand smoke, reduce environmental pollution, and promote a healthier and cleaner society for all. It is essential to prioritize public health and create smoke-free environments that benefit the well-being of individuals and communities.中文翻译:吸烟是一个引发全球性辩论的有争议问题。

Should Smoking Be Banned in Public Restaurants? In the perfect situation, smoking policy would be set by bar or restaurant owners, and customers would patronize the establishments with the policy they prefer. Customers would decide—without the government’s help—if they want to avoid smoke-filled rooms or enter them. They might even choose tosit in an area sectioned off for smokers or non-smokers, but the ultimate issue is choice (Ruwart 1). When the government starts telling restaurant owners what their customers can and cannot do, the government is overstepping its boundaries. Our government aims to protect us—to save us from society’s evils. However, in an attempt to protect the public from the effects of passive smoking (second hand smoke)—of which, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service in 1994, “the statistical evidence does not . . . support a conclusion that there are substantive health effects . . .” (Krauthammer)—the feds have failed to protect a vital part of the U.S. economic population: business owners. Many people who drink also tend to smoke; banning drinkers from smoking has hurt business in some bars and restaurants. “According to the California Licensed Beverage Association, business has dropped as much as 85 percent . . . since the prohibition took effect” (“Bar Owners Vow” 1). The decrease in customers and subsequent loss of revenue has far-reaching effects on employers. A study by the American Beverage Institute entitled “Effect of 1998 California Smoking Ban on Bars, T averns, and Night Clubs” asked 300 respondents about the effects of the ban on their businesses. When asked if the ban caused owners to lay off employees or cut working hours, 29.7 percent of respondents answered “yes”; 59 percent gave the same answer when asked if they experienced a loss of tips/gratuities for bar and serving-staff employees (1). The plight of restaurant and bar owners is often ignored, but it is a serious issue for them and for their employees. While the argument rages over the effects of smoking on public health, the question that remains is this: “How much is society entitled to penalize smokers for their decisions because—in society’s view—those decisions are unhealthy?” (Samuelson). Smoking tobacco is not an illegal act, yet the 25 percent of Americans who do smoke are often treated as if they were criminals. They are incessantly nagged, blamed for numerous illnesses and unpleasantries, and made to feel guilty by self-righteous nonsmokers (Bork28). The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that living with a smoker increases your chance of lung cancer by 19 percent. What they fail to tell you is that, in contrast, (firsthand) smoking increases your chance 1,000 percent (Buckley). Why is the act of smoking tobacco, which merely injures oneself, so scrutinized and shunned by society, while drinking alcohol, which is by far more deadly to innocent bystanders, is accepted by society and virtually unregulated? (Krauthammer). One may not wish to be seated near an extremely obese person in a restaurant, but it would certainly be unconstitutional to deny service to these patrons. In modern society, the government knows better than to discriminate against minorities, senior citizens, or the physically handicapped; it does not hesitate, however, to discriminate against smokers.Personal choice is a simple principle that is highly valued in American society. Banning smoking in all public restaurants violates this principle and jeopardizes our freedom. Smoking should not be banned in all restaurants. A ban on smoking imposes unnecessary governmental interference in private business, affects business owners negatively, and discriminates against smokers. Like the black Southerner turned away because of racial segregation, the smoker is unfairly treated. Sadly, just when our government claims to be whisking away the clouds of smoke, it is legislating a cloud of discrimination.。
对公共场合禁烟的看法英语作文English: In my opinion, smoking should be banned in public places. There are several reasons why I hold this belief. Firstly, secondhand smoke is harmful to non-smokers, especially children and those with respiratory issues. By prohibiting smoking in public, we can protect the health and well-being of all individuals. Secondly, smoking in public places can create an unpleasant and uncomfortable environment for non-smokers. Many people find the smell and smoke of cigarettes repugnant, and it can be a major inconvenience when one cannot escape from it. Thirdly, smoking in public places can also pose a fire hazard. Cigarettes can easily ignite flammable materials, leading to potential accidents and damages. Additionally, banning smoking in public areas can help encourage smokers to quit or reduce their smoking habits. When smoking is not allowed in social settings, it becomes more difficult for individuals to smoke as frequently or enjoyably as they would like. This can serve as a motivation for some smokers to give up the habit. Lastly, implementing a ban on smoking in public places sets a positive example for society. It sends a message that smoking is not socially acceptable and contributes to creating a healthier environment foreveryone. Overall, a ban on smoking in public places is necessary to protect the health and well-being of individuals, create a more pleasant environment for non-smokers, prevent fire hazards, encourage smokers to quit or reduce their smoking habits, and set a positive example for society.中文翻译:依我之见,吸烟在公共场所应该被禁止。
1.Smoking should be banned in public placesMany surveys, studies and scientific research has proved that smoking and second-hand smoking is harmful to our health. Thus, I think it's necessary to ban smoking in public places. Here are my reasons.First of all, smoking pollutes the environment. When a person smokes, it releases plenty of carbon dioxide to the air, which not only polluting the environment but also harm the people around.Secondly, it is greatly harmful to people not only physically but also mentally. One survey showed that smokers are easier to suffer from various diseases such as lung cancer and lung cancer than non-smokers. Cigarette contains plenty of nicotine which can destroy the immune system of human beings. Once the immune system is weakened, people are easy to fall ill. Moreover, smokers are easy to get addicted and can not control themselves. Also, there are two types of smokers, active and passive. The person who smokes is active and other who are near him and inhale the smoke are passive smokers. Both are equally affected by the ill effects of smoking. Smokers and non-smokers meet at many public places like offices, restaurants, hotels and so on. This makes it possible for smokers to pass on second-hand smoke to non-smokers.Therefore, to be fair to non-smokers and to protect our environment, I strongly agree that smoking should be banned in public places.2.Academic qualification ensures success in life.I agree with this point for the following reasons.First, academic qualification ensures you have the basics in learning. If your basic grounding in math, science, and language is strong, your chances to success may increases a lot than those who do not have academic qualifications. Mastering these subjects allows you to calculate, to innovate and to communicate. These essentials for success cannot be learned without professional help in schools and colleges.Second, if you look at a global directory of successful people, you may find millions of doctors, engineers, IT professionals, lawyers and advocates who rely upon their formal education. These people may have extreme talent, but what made them success later in life is the higher education they received from schools. These education guided them to study farther into their fields and gave them inspiration.Last, everyone has heard of Bill Gates and his outstanding achievements. You may say that Gates did not receive much academic education, but he still succeed. Well, success isn't a just matter of building a huge firm from scratch and making billions of dollars by that definition, only a tiny number of people in the world could be considered successful. No, success is about making the most of your talents and abilities, and that requires dedication and study in academic institutions that will help you discover your potentials.。
Good morning, everyone. Our motion today is that smoking should be permitted in public places. As a prime minister, I want to first offer you our definition, and second, the status quo. Then, I’ll going to my arguments. The first is about the definition. I want to definite which areas are public places. Public places are areas where there are a lot of people who can see and hear you. Such as school classroom, cinema, plaza and so on.Second one is the status quo. There are two quos. The first quo is nowadays there are about three hundred million people engaging in cigarette-related work, China alone has nearly 22 million farmers involved in tobacco cultivation, accounting for 7% of the farmers, and there are large and small, nearly 2862 Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, and more than 100 tobacco companies. The second quo is there are nearly one billion smokers in the world. China accounted for 350 million, and most smokers smoked has a fairly long.Third, I’m going to my arguments. In fact, I have three arguments.Frist is about the taxation of the cigarette. Tobacco taxes are an important source of state revenue, in a long period of time tobacco taxes accounted for 10 percent of state revenues. It is a certain degree of protection of the state financial expenditure in many aspects of science, education, social welfare, etc., maintaining economic stability. In addition, the industry of tobacco creates many job opportunities. It helps the farmer who plant tobacco eliminate poverty, and improve their welfare. Thus the smoking should be permitted in public places.Second, banning smoking in public places takes away some of smoker’s freedom. Everyone has their rights, smokers are no exception. Smoking is an addictive items, smoking in public places sometimes also is a kind of trepidation. I am sure that all of us have relatives who are smokers. Have you noticed that they cannot behave naturally without a cigarette? They are under great pressure so that they would like stay at home and smoke freely. Smoking has gained a good favor among men. For many of them, smoking has become an important part of their life and nothing seems more difficult and painful than keeping away from their lifelong habit.Third, believe it or not, smoking has become a part of man’s culture. Smoking is a most Chinese identity of communication, people make a deal and make friends because of smoking. If you are careful, you can see that when strange men meet together, offering a cigarette makes them closer to each other. Especially, among old friends, smoking contributes to a better conversation. On the business dinners, cigarettes are indispensible,no matter it is in public places or not. Say so, smoking is a kind of social communication request. It is absolutely necessary to permit it in public places. That’s all. Thank you!。
Smoking Should Be Made Be IllegalAccording to the WHO’s report, each year more than 25 million people died of disease which are connected with cigarette. Nowadays smoking has been an universal action, not only the adults are smoking but also the young are following suit. Although the prospect of smoking looks attraction to many people, it still should be made illegal. Because smoking undermines the health of the whole nation, results the pollution of environment, but also costs lots of money, despite the opposite claims that it promotes the employment.Doctors said that the reason why smokers enjoy smoking because a small amount of nicotine would be excited to play the role of nerve. However, we can not ignore that smoking is harmful to health of whole nation. The ingredients of tobacco are nicotine, acetone, arsenic, butane, carbon monoxide and so on. Each of them can lead to illness of smokers. Furthermore, we should notice that exposure to tobacco smoke and even greater than direct smoking. A research was done by some scholars demonstrates that the number of cigarette that husbands smoke every day is always proportioned to the birth rate of death and congenital malformations of prenatal babies. If one’s father does n’t smoke, the rate of congenital malformations is 0.8% while the rate increases to 1.4% if the father smokes cigarettes from one to ten, and the rate is 2.1% if the number is over ten.In recent years, all of us can not deny that the environment is worsening; one of the reasons that lead to the phenomenon is smoking. Firstly, tobacco is grown in warm climates with rich, well-drained soil. It can destroy the natural resources system because of vast quantities of consumption of nutrient substance dues to its longer mature stages than many other agricultural products. Secondly, it needs to cut a mass of trees to make cigarette paper. Certainly, trees are killed and then the environment problems appear, such as soil loss. Thirdly, smoking can cause fire. According to statistics, about 20% of fire in the world is caused by smoking every year and in China is 6%.As saying goes “Money can't do everything, but you certainly can't do everything without money”. Certainly, smoking also costs lots of money, not only personal but also social. For a person, if he smokes a pack of cigarettes a day, and we suppose the price of it is 10, then he needs to cost 3650 a year. Almost you can buy a laptop. For the society, it must invest capital into lean healthcare to take care of people. The more smokers, the more expense. But the opposite holds that we shouldn’t make smoking be illegal because it promotes the employment. However, I think if people don’t smoke and lots money will be saved. If we could just get to wise use them to pull the other related industries development, then the employment can be easily increased. In short, smoking is really harmful and now it has been a kind of social phenomenon. In order to prevent it worse, we must make it be illegal.。

Smoking should not be allowed in public places
Have you ever met someone who is smoking in public place? Are there any children and pregnant women around him?I think most of you have experienced something like this, and everyone has his own perspective about it. For me, smoking should not be allowed in public places. The following reasons can support my view.
First of all, smoking is harmful not only to our own health but also to other s’ health. For example, people who smoke are more likely to develop diseases such as lung cancer and liver cirrhosis(肝硬化). A healthy lung is pinkish in color and helps the person breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. But a smoker's lung is very dark and is covered with tar(焦油). A smoker's lung is unable to functionally help the person breathe and increases severe asthma(哮喘), with causes stroke and heart attack. What’s more, when you are smoking in public, the harmful substances in cigarettes can diffuse in the air. People around you including children and pregnant women will breathe the harmful gas, even though they do not smoke directly, and they also have a chance to have some cancers. This is called secondhand smoke. So, not just for your health, but for other s’ health, do not smoke in public places.
The second reason is smoking in public places will cause fire. Some people will not put their cigarettes out and throw them around after they have finished smoking. For example, in Internet bars or parks, if
someone accidentally leaves an unextinguished cigarette, there are more likely to catch fire. Smoking has accounted for 7.7 percent of all fires between 2001 and 2005, according to the China fire yearbook. Millions of forests have burned in the past decade just because smokers leave them lit up. These can lead to a great amount of economic loss and life safety risk. In order to avoid catching fire, don’t smoke in public.
The last one is smoking in public places may cause environmental pollution. According to a survey, the main cause of poor air quality in public places is smoking. Tobacco smoke is the most important source of indoor inhalable particulate matter(可吸入颗粒物), which constitutes 90% ~ 93% of indoor inhalable particulate matter under smoking condition. Meanwhile,The smoke emitted by people when they smoke is the main source of carbon monoxide(一氧化碳)and carbon dioxide in ordinary rooms. At the end, some people who have bad habits will throw their cigarettes about, which is not a good thing for environment. So for the sake of public environment, don’t smoke in the public.
From what I have said above, you must have a clear idea about why we can't smoke in public. For the health of you and others, for reducing the incidence of fire in public places, and for the public environment, here, I appeal to stop smoking in public places.。
