This research was designed to develop a method for improving corrosion protection on hard-to-reach parts of car bodies.在美国福特车厂George Brewer 博士的领导下,福特汽车公司从1957 年就着手研究电泳涂装。

电泳涂装培训手册(一)、电泳涂装的进展概况1809年俄国科学家列斯第一发觉了胶体粒子在电场作用下能产生电泳的现象。
但由于当时缺少良好的水溶性树脂,因此在工业上一直没有得到广泛的应用。
直到1960年由英国的卜内门与里兰公司共同研制成功阳极电泳漆与涂装工艺。
美国福特汽车公司早在1950年即开始从事电泳漆的研究,但直到1961年在美国PPG(匹茨堡平板玻璃公司)涂料分公司的配合下才建立了一条电泳涂装汽车车轮的试验生产线。
