We have all been gifted with the ability to make a difference. And if we can become aware of that gift, we gain through the strength of our visions the power to shape the future. We must each find our starfish. And if we throw our stars wisely and well, the world will be blessed.2. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, “Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.”Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated, “You can keep the F and I‟ll keep my dream.”Recollecting the story, my friend Monty and I are now sitting in his, 4,000-square-foot house in the middle of a 200-acre horse ranch. Two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on his ranch. When the teacher was leaving, he said, “Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. The trick to getting out of the well is to stop wailing, and not let the dirt bury you, but to shake it off and take a step up. Each one of our troubles is a stepping-stone. His dad was amazed. "I never would have guessed," he said. "You should have given him a chance," I suggested.10. As she began getting her things …in order‟, she asked for her pastor to come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. At the funeral, every one that walked by the woman‟s coffin saw her wearing a beautiful dress with her favorite Bible held in her left hand and a fork held in her right hand.Over and over the pastor heard people ask the question, "Why is she holding a fork?" and his smile began to get larger and brighter each time. Have you ever felt like you are at your breaking point? Thankfully, you have survived the experience to live to talk about it.During the experience you probably felt a mix of emotions that threatened your health. You felt emotionally drained, mentally exhausted and you most likely endured unpleasant physical symptoms.Life is a mixture of good times and bad times, happy moments and unhappy moments. The next time you are experiencing one of those bad times or unhappy moments that take you close to your breaking point, bend, but don't break. Try your best not to let the situation get the best of you.A measure of hope will take you through the unpleasant moments. With hope for a better tomorrow or a better situation, things may not be as bad as they seem to be.12. Bait is placed in the cage, and the cage is lowered into the water. One crab comes along, enters the cage, and begins munching on the bait. A second crab joins him. A third. Crab Thanksgiving. Eventually, however, all the bait is gone.The crabs could easily climb up the side of the cage and through the hole, but they do not. They stay in the cage. Other crabs come along and join them—long after the bait is gone. And more.Should one of the crabs realize there is no further reason to stay in the trap and attempts to leave, the other crabs will gang up on him and stop him. They will repeatedly pull him off the side of the cage. If he is persistent, the others will tear off his claws to keep him from climbing. If he persists still, they will kill him.The crabs—by force of the majority—stay together in the cage. The cage is hauled up, and it‟s dinnertime on the pier.The chief difference between these crabs and humans is that these crabs live in water and humans on land.Anyone who has a dream—one that might get them out of what they perceive to be a trap—had best beware of the fellow-inhabitants of the trap.The human crabs (we call them trolls) do not usually use physical force—although they are certainly not above it. They generally don‟t need it, however. They have more effective methods at hand, and in mouth—doubt, ridicule, sarcasm, humiliation, and dozen others not listed in our dictionary. We don‟t need to wait for others to encourage us; we need to encourage ourselves.If you‟ve forgotten how to do this, or feel like your self-esteem needs a boost, take a short journey back through your life—look at your accomplishments, no matter if they were large or small—you met the challenge and figured out a way to succeed. While going back, look for the little child you once were. Thank them for never giving up. As you wave goodbye, remember they will never give up on you. They have believed in you all of your life!Now you need to believe in you too!Remember, today is the best day of your life because yesterday was and tomorrow may only be.15. As the waves near, the wise child jumps to his feet and begins to clap. There is no sorrow. No fear. No regret. He knew this would happen. He is not surprised. And when the great breaker crashes into his castle and his masterpiece is sucked into the sea, he smiles.
