Bridging the digital divide
With the GSM security backup solution, Huawei has provided non-stop communications services to Somali people entangled in war. More than 2,000 GSM base stations built by Huawei have served nearly 4,000,000 people in Somalia. Huawei implemented the Telecom Seeds for the Future Program to develop local ICT talent and to transfer knowledge. Huawei has provided scholarships, training, and internship opportunities for thousands of students around the world, mostly in Europe, Africa and Asia. We also created and made available 16 training centers. The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) needs to store and analyze over 25PB data each year. With the UDS cloud storage system, Huawei helped CERN cope with the data floods.
