副词是表示行为特征的词，主要用来修饰动词，也可用来修饰形容词、副词、介词短语以及句子，表示时间、地点、方式、程度、疑问等。07-1 副词的形式与分类

1.副词的形式

（1）独立副词。

大部分副词是一个独立的单词，表达特定的意义。如：now现在；then那时；quite很；非常；very非常；almost几乎，差不多；too太；often经常；never从不；seldom很少；forever永远；ago以前等。

（2）与形容词同形的副词

部分副词与形容词同形，表达的意义也相同。用作形容词表示“……的”，用作副词表示“……地”。如：

许多副词是在形容词词尾加后缀-ly构成的，这些副词表达的意义也相同，形容词表示“……的”，副词表示“……地”。

注意：

英语副词的分类

(1) 时间副词：常见的有now, then, soon, ago, recently,

lately, later, before, early, today, tomorrow, yesterday,

tonight, suddenly, immediately, still, already, just等。如：

An idea suddenly struck me.我心中忽然产生一个念头。

(2) 地点副词：常见的有here, there, up, down, away, nearby,

home, ahead, abroad, indoors, overseas, upstairs, downstairs等。如：

I am considering going abroad.我正在考虑出国。

(3) 方式副词：表示行为方式的副词大多以-ly结尾，常见的有quietly, heavily, warmly, carefully, happily, politely,

angrily等。如：

Look at the picture carefully.仔细看这幅画。

(4) 频度副词：常见的有always, usually, often, frequently,

constantly, occasionally, sometimes, seldom, hardly, rarely,

never等。

形 容 词 和 副 词

形容词和副词的句法作用：

形容词：用于名词前作定语、用于联系动词后作表语（主语补语）或宾语后作宾语补语。

e.g This is the most interesting book I have ever seen. （定语）

The dish tastes delicious. Would you like some? （表语）

What he said made all of us happy. （宾补）

副词：用于修饰动词、形容词、副词以及整个句子，在句中作状语，说明时间、地点、程度等。在句中的位臵较灵活，可位于句首、句尾或句中（特殊动词后，谓语动词前）；修饰形容词或副词时，应位于其前。

e.g Jim usually goes to school with his friend by bus. （频率）

Yesterday Lucy bought a new skirt. （时间）

Could you come here to have dinner with me this evening? （地点）

This piece of music sounds very beautiful. （程度）

考点要求：

一、形容词和副词的判断：主要要求判定是否应使用形容词（考虑同名词或动词的关系）。根据形容词的句法作用，下属情况必须使用形容词：位于名词前作定语；位于联系动词后作表语；位于必须带复合宾语的动词后的宾语后作宾补。除此之外，用副词。

一、副词presently的用法小议

1.表示“不久”，有两种用法值得注意:

(1) 若是用于过去时态，表示“不久以后”“不一会儿”，此时它通常是放在句首。如:

Presently,I fell asleep.不一会儿，我就睡着了。

Presently I heard her leave the house.不一会儿我听到她离开了房间。

(2) 若是用于将来时态，表示“马上”“很快”，此时它通常是放在句末。如:

He'l1 be here presently. 他马上就到这里。

The doctor will be here presently.医生马上就到。

有时单独使用:

A:Mummy, can I have an ice-cream?妈妈，我能吃一块冰凌淋吗?

B:Presently dear.过一会儿，乖乖。

2.表示“现在”“此刻”“眼下”，多用于美国英语，此时它通常放在所修饰的动词、形容词或名词之前:

These are the courses presently available. 这些就是现有的课程。

He's presently working on this problem.他目前正在研究这个问题。

There is presently no cure for the disease.目前这种病无药可医。

在这样用时，通常不宜把它放在句首或句尾;遇此情况可改用at

present。如:

They're on holiday at present.目前他们在度假。

At present we are living in Richmond.现在我们住在里其曼区。
