1. roles: panel leader, student, parent, journalist

topic: Should university graduates choose to work in first-tier cities or second &

third-tier cities?

Panel Leader: We know now university graduates face a stern reality of having a

satisfying job. Mr.J, can you tell us the situation with your knowledge?

Journalist: Okay. As far as I know, The reason of these problem may be two: one of

them is the severe economic situation. But the other, I think, some graduates ask a

little too much, more than their ability. They prefer to work in big city like

BeiShangGuang, and require a high starting salary.

PL: Which do you prefer? first-tier cities or second & third-tier cities?

Student A:I like first-tier cities. It can offer me more chance, better lifestyle, better

civil service, balabalabalabala……Ah, I’m a little excited!

S B:Your idea is the common sense of “Phoenix man”. Maybe living in first-tier cities

could bring you these kind of benefits, you must know that the cost in first-tier cities

is higher than second or third-tier cities. The hosing price in BSG is astronomical

figure, cost of transport and education will be very high. If you living in second or

third-tier cities, your cost maybe much lower. Furthermore, China will further expand

the scope of its opened-up areas, second or third-tier cities will have more and more

chances, and they have a bright future.

Parents: Our child will soon graduate from his master degree's course. But he still not

have ideas about the city he choose to work, which worries us much. Although we

don't have a strong economic fundamental, we want to give as much support as we

can to our child to relieve his stress.

S A: I have some reservations about these idea. I think I can earn a life in first-tier

cities by myself, without the help of my family. And I think people in first-tier cities

have spirit of struggle, make every minute counts, try best. These is so-called “My

Chinese Dream”.

J: Graduates who I have interviewed supported these two views. I think there is not

best answer, only the answer you want.

PL: Okay, we have a meaningful discussion. Thanks for you participation.

6. roles: panel leader, student, psychologist, sociologist

topic: Why are some people nice and helpful online but rude and indifferent offline in

their real life?

Panel Leader: Good morning everyone. Do you use internet to talk with others? With

acquaintances and strangers.

S A:I love internet. I use weibo and renren to interact with my friends and strangers.

When I have a good course, or feel my appearance good, I’ll take photos and upload

them to my cyber space, balabalabalabala……

S B:As a senior otaku, I find world in cyber is very beautiful. I seek for many

information from internet, post topics and response in BBS, Play online game with

my mates, balabalabalabala……It’s so fantastic!!!

PL: Research find some people nice and helpful online but rude and indifferent offline in their real life, what’s your opinion?

S A: I think it depends on the condition of community. Community online is soft, it

can not make big conflicts everyone online is enjoying it. But in real life, we

couldn’t avoid conflicts because of ubiquitous interest relationship.

S B: I partly agree with her. I’m a loser in real life. Many things make me frustrated

and depressed, so I’m easy to lose temper. But in cyber, I’m a high-class member,

many people agree with and praise my topic. So I tend to be gentle and wise. But

there are some evil person called “sprayer”. They make online world terrible.

Phycho: It's well known that people say and do things in cyberspace that they

wouldn't ordinarily say or do in the face-to-face world. They loosen up, feel more

uninhibited, express themselves more openly. Researchers call this the "disinhibition

effect." It's a double-edged sword. Sometimes people share very personal things about

themselves. They reveal secret emotions, fears, wishes. Or they show unusual acts of

kindness and generosity. We may call this benign disinhibition.

Social: Online environments can stir uncertainty, frustration, and anxiety - even

paranoia about the possible mishaps and calamities that may befall you if you venture

into the wrong environment or connect with the wrong people. As a result, people

sometimes proceed with hesitancy and caution. People might experience small or

wide oscillations between the two polarities. Some might be more susceptible to

inhibition than to disinhibition, or vice versa.

PL: Ok, thanks for your participation and specialists’ analyses. Internet maybe a

double-edged sword, we must make a wise use of it.
