2). When he was in trouble yesterday , a young man gave him a hand.昨天，当他遇到麻烦时，一个年轻人帮助了他。

2.用在可数名词单数形式前，指人或事物的某一种类。

如：1). A parrot can talk like a person , but it can’t think like a person.鹦鹉可以像人一样说话，但不能像人一样思考。

3.泛指某人或某物，但不具体说明是何人或何物。

如：1). A boy is waiting for you at the school gate. 校门口有个男孩在等你。

4.表示“一”的概念，但没有one 强烈。

如：1). There is a table and four chairs in the room. 房间里有一张桌子和四把椅子。

5.用在表示某种身份、职业、国籍的名词前，几乎没有“一”的概念。

如：1).She’ll be a dancer. 她将成为（一名）舞蹈演员。

2).His father is a worker , while his mother is a teacher.他的爸爸是工人他的妈妈是教师。

6.用在表示时间、速度、价格等意义的名词之前，表示“每一”，不可以用one 代替。

如：1). He drove his car along the highway at eighty kilometers an hour.他驾车以每小时80 公里的速度在公路上行驶。

7.用在姓名前，（相当于a certain）意为“某一个”。

大家要注意分清楚，元音辅音，不等于元音字母辅音字母。

比如说：a computer 一台电脑，a desk 一张桌子，a country一个国家,a university一所大学,a European一个欧洲人,在这里，元音字母E开头，但是E不发音。

那么再来看一下，元音字母e开头，我们再来看一下，元音开头的名词，如：an apple一只苹果，an egg 一只鸡蛋，an uncle 一位叔叔，an umbrella一把雨伞，这里U和前面university一样，在单词的开头，university里的U是发半元音/ju:/ ，所以看成辅音，用a university，而在这里，umbrella是发元音/ʌ/，所以用an umbrella。

再又比如说我们很多的字母，它的发音往往是一个元音开头，比如说x, an "x", m, n, f, l 等，一个前面都要加"an" : an "m, n, f, l" ，所以这是a和an,我们要注意的第一点。

二、a和an的用法1、首先，a和an用在可数名词的单数形式前，它是用来指第一次提到的一个名词，我们在会话的时候，第一次提到，比如说，I need an English grammar book. 我需要一本英语语法书。

2、他们可以用在单数名词前，当然还是可数名词，表示一类人或者物，这比较特殊，泛指，比如说:A bike is very useful in the countryside.在乡下自行车很有用。

A bike在这里不是一辆自行车，而是统称自行车这样的东西。

An elephant is stronger than a horse.An elephant也不是指某一只大象，而是大象这种动物。

冠词【要点提示】冠词与名词的搭配如下：冠词可数名词单数可数名词复数不可数名词a(n) book //the book books bread不用冠词/books bread一、不定冠词a和an（a用在辅音音素之前，an用于元音音素之前）1. 表示“一个人或事物”，但不像on e偏重数的概念，有时可不译出。

如：There is an apple.2. 泛指某类人或事物。

如：A sheep eats grass.3. 表示第一次提到的人或事物，但不具体说明何人或何物。

如：A girl is waiting for you outside.4. 表示“每一”的意思，相当于every。

如：Take the medicine three times a day.【巧记】不定冠词有a / an , 单数名词前面站，开头读音假设是元，要把an来挑选，辅音开头就用a, 认真分辨莫用错。

二、定冠词the1. 特指某（些）人或某（些）事物。

如：I like the clothes.2. 指说话人和听话人都熟悉的人或事物。

如：Open the door, please.3. 上文提到过的人或事物。

如：Yesterday Tom’s father bought him a new computer. The computer cost him 3,500 yuan.4. 表示世界上并世无双的事物。

如：The sun rises in the east and goes down in the west.5. 用在序数词和形容词最高级前。

如：January is the first month of a year.6. 用在方位名词和西洋乐器名词前。

冠词【定义】冠词是一种虚词，不能在句子中作独立成分，要用在名词的前面，帮助说明名词所指的人或事物。

它不能离开名词而单独存在，因此，可以说冠词就是名词的一种标志。

在英语中，冠词分为不定冠词(a和an)和定冠词(the)两种：不定冠词一般用于单数名词前，表示泛指；定冠词既可修饰可数名词(单复数均可)，又可修饰不可数名词，表示特指。
