<背景文章>
In China and the United States, there are significant differences in
family concepts, which are reflected in family structure, family member
relationships, and family responsibilities.
In terms of family structure, in China, the extended family has long
been a traditional form. It often includes not only parents and children but
also grandparents and other relatives. Grandparents usually play an
important role in taking care of grandchildren, and family members often
live together. For example, in many rural areas, it is common for three
generations to live under one roof. This kind of family structure reflects the
importance of family unity and mutual support in Chinese culture.
In contrast, in the United States, the nuclear family is more prevalent.
A nuclear family typically consists of parents and their children. Young
people tend to move out of their parents' homes when they become adults
and start their own independent lives. This is related to the American value
of individualism, which emphasizes personal independence and self -
reliance.
Regarding family member relationships, in Chinese families, there is
a strong sense of hierarchy. Parents are highly respected, and children are
expected to obey their parents. Filial piety is a core value. For instance,
children are supposed to take care of their elderly parents when they grow
old. In addition, family members often have close emotional bonds and
communicate frequently. In American families, although family members
also love each other, the relationship is more egalitarian. Parents and
children often treat each other as friends, and children have more freedom
to express their opinions.
When it comes to family responsibilities, in China, family members
usually share common responsibilities. For example, in a family business,
all family members may contribute their efforts. And in taking care of the
family, everyone has their role. In the United States, family responsibilities
are often more clearly divided. Each person is mainly responsible for their
own affairs, and parents are mainly responsible for raising children until
they reach a certain age of independence.

Festivals are an important part of different cultures around the world.
In the East and the West, there are significant differences in the ways of
celebrating festivals, which also reflect different cultural connotations.
Let's take the Spring Festival in China and Christmas in the West as
an example. The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival
for Chinese people. It usually falls in late January or early February. Before
the Spring Festival, people will do a thorough cleaning of their houses,
which is called "sweeping the dust", symbolizing getting rid of the old and
welcoming the new. Family members will get together from all over the
country. On the New Year's Eve, families will have a big dinner together,
and dumplings are an essential food. There are also various traditional
activities, such as setting off firecrackers (in some areas where it is
permitted) to drive away evil spirits and bring good luck, and pasting
Spring Festival couplets on the doors. The Spring Festival represents
family reunion and the hope for a prosperous new year.
On the other hand, Christmas in the West is celebrated on December
25th every year. It is a religious and cultural festival. People will decorate
Christmas trees with all kinds of ornaments, such as colorful lights, bells,
and gifts. Santa Claus is an important symbol of Christmas. Children
believe that Santa Claus will come at night on Christmas Eve and put
