They might make outrageous claims that a toy will make us popular or that a food is healthy when it's actually just junk. My friend Jack fell for an ad that said drinking a certain sports drink would help him run faster and jump higher. But after drinking it for weeks, he didn't notice any difference at all! That was just a lie to get him to spend money.Another bad thing about ads is that they encourage us to be very materialistic and want loads of new possessions all the time. There are so many ads for the latest toys, video games, clothes, and gadgets designed to make us feel like we absolutely MUST have them right away. But do we really need more and more stuff? That's just greed and it's selfish. We should learn to be happy with what we already have.I also don't like how many advertisements are around schools these days. Companies will put up big ads or even install branded vending machines right on campus. To me, that feels like they are directly targeting and taking advantage of kids which isn't right.
