What is bronze ?
Bronze is an alloy consisting primarily of copper and other metals.The addition of other metals (usually tin, sometimes arsenic), produces an alloy much harder than plain copper. The historical period where the archeological record contains many bronze artifacts is known as the Bronze Age. The Chinese Bronze Age began in the Xia Dynasty (ca.2070 – ca. 1600 BC), and reached its zenith during the Shang Dynasty (1600–1046 BC) and the early part of the Chou Dynasty (1045–256 BC).

Ding
The ding is an ancient Chinese cauldron with legs, a lid and two handles opposite each other. They were made in two shapes with round vessels having three legs and rectangular ones four.
According to the existing material, ding was founded in Henan province Peigang culture. 裴岗文化 About ten thousand years ago. Our ancestors invented a kind of cooker -- Pottery Ding. It looks like a very big chaffy dish. People put all kinds of food in it and make a fire under the ding. Because of the ding is too big to move, so can only put in a place.

Bronze is an alloy([ˈælɔɪ]) of copper ([ˈkɑ:pə(r)] 铜）and a variety of other elements such as tin （锡）. Bronze ware can be found in many ancient civilizations.

青铜器的历史发展过程
青铜器经历1500年的发展变化，主要分以下几个时期： •
萌生期
公元前二十一世纪左右，中国开始进入青铜时代， 夏代晚期的二里头文化是目前考古发现中最早的 青铜文化。遗址中出士了青铜容器、乐器、兵器、 工具和饰件，并发现铸造遗址。青铜礼器造型初 具规范，器壁匀薄，铸造技术已达熟练水平。这 一时期的青铜器显示中国业已步入文明社会。

西周中晚期的青铜器形成重食的系统。列鼎制度、 编钟制度和赐命作器之习已经形成。新的器型开 始出现;器形端庄厚重，纹饰多为动物变形，或流 转舒畅，或朴质简率。作器铸铭盛行，多见有长 篇铭文的重器。春秋早期的形制和纹饰是西周中 晚期的自然延续。

春秋中期至战国，青铜艺术的发展再次出现高潮。 列国青铜器趋向成熟，区域特徵明显，北方晋秦、 东方齐鲁、南方荆楚的青铜艺术交相辉映。器物 的生活实用性加强，礼器的功用逐渐消失。形制 的创新，出现了许多谲奇精丽之器。失蜡法和印 模块范拼合法的产生，使镶嵌工艺绚丽工巧。铭 文字体亦注重美化。
基本功能
• 在古人心目（古代文献）中，青铜器有两种基本 功能或用途，一是“纳（内）、入”，即盛装物 件；一是“设”即陈设布列。纳是青铜器的第一 位的基本功用，而纳的基本目的是“示和”。所 纳对象即古文献所谓“实物（所实之物）”，实 际就是牺牲（肉食）、黍稷（主食）以及酒醴之 类祖先生前生活必需品。而其主要就是把诸如此 类分别纳入鼎簋尊彝等各类器物中，然后作以调 和以供祭祀祖先之用。《说文》说：“鼎，和五 味之宝器。”，《国语·郑语》记载史伯说： “夫和生实物，„„以他平他谓之和，故能丰长 而物归之，„„是以和五味以调口，刚四肢以卫 体。”都在申明用青铜器调济容物，“和五味” 以“示和”的基本意思。其调和方法就是“济其 不及，以泄其过”，而最终目的则在于和人心， “成其政”。

Mao-kung Ting is the tresure of taibei palace museum，which is famous for the long inscription decribed how mao-kung offered advice for the king of the Chou.
Wine vessel (fou) and ice basin (jian) （青铜冰鉴）
Early Warring States (475–376 BC) Height 63.2 cm, Diameter at mouth 63 cm
This is a combination of a square water vessel (jian) with a covered wine vessel (zunfou) inside.Ice is placed in the space between the two vessels both to cool and to preserve the wine.
Painted goose and fish lamp （雁鱼灯）
Western Han (206BC- AD8 ) Height 53cm, Length 34.5cm
This lamp is in the form of a goose with its head turned back and holding a fish in its mouth.The smoke and dust passes through the fish and the goose’s neck into the hollow body and finally dissolves in water.
