What is bronze ?
Bronze is an alloy consisting primarily of copper and other metals.The addition of other metals (usually tin, sometimes arsenic), produces an alloy much harder than plain copper. The historical period where the archeological record contains many bronze artifacts is known as the Bronze Age. The Chinese Bronze Age began in the Xia Dynasty (ca.2070 – ca. 1600 BC), and reached its zenith during the Shang Dynasty (1600–1046 BC) and the early part of the Chou Dynasty (1045–256 BC).

The ding is an ancient Chinese cauldron with legs, a lid and two handles opposite each other. They were made in two shapes with round vessels having three legs and rectangular ones four.
According to the existing material, ding was founded in Henan province Peigang culture. 裴岗文化 About ten thousand years ago. Our ancestors invented a kind of cooker -- Pottery Ding. It looks like a very big chaffy dish. People put all kinds of food in it and make a fire under the ding. Because of the ding is too big to move, so can only put in a place.

青铜器经历1500年的发展变化，主要分以下几个时期： •
萌生期
公元前二十一世纪左右，中国开始进入青铜时代， 夏代晚期的二里头文化是目前考古发现中最早的 青铜文化。遗址中出士了青铜容器、乐器、兵器、 工具和饰件，并发现铸造遗址。青铜礼器造型初 具规范，器壁匀薄，铸造技术已达熟练水平。这 一时期的青铜器显示中国业已步入文明社会。

基本功能
• 在古人心目（古代文献）中，青铜器有两种基本 功能或用途，一是“纳（内）、入”，即盛装物 件；一是“设”即陈设布列。纳是青铜器的第一 位的基本功用，而纳的基本目的是“示和”。所 纳对象即古文献所谓“实物（所实之物）”，实 际就是牺牲（肉食）、黍稷（主食）以及酒醴之 类祖先生前生活必需品。而其主要就是把诸如此 类分别纳入鼎簋尊彝等各类器物中，然后作以调 和以供祭祀祖先之用。《说文》说：“鼎，和五 味之宝器。”，《国语·郑语》记载史伯说： “夫和生实物，„„以他平他谓之和，故能丰长 而物归之，„„是以和五味以调口，刚四肢以卫 体。”都在申明用青铜器调济容物，“和五味” 以“示和”的基本意思。其调和方法就是“济其 不及，以泄其过”，而最终目的则在于和人心， “成其政”。

Mao-kung Ting is the tresure of taibei palace museum，which is famous for the long inscription decribed how mao-kung offered advice for the king of the Chou.

This is a combination of a square water vessel (jian) with a covered wine vessel (zunfou) inside.Ice is placed in the space between the two vessels both to cool and to preserve the wine.
