教材分析：

1.本单元的内容结构及其他地位作用。

《面积》属于空间与图形领域，这一单元具体包括：面积和面积单位，长方形、正方形的面积计算，面积单位的进率，常用的土地面积单位四局部。例1、例2主要学习面积概念，例3认识面积单位，例4学习长、正方形面积计算。这一单元是在学生已经掌握了长度和长度单位，长方形和正方形的特征和其周长计算的基础上进行的。学生从学习长度到学习面积，是从一维空间向二维空间转化的开始，是空间形式“由线到面”的一次飞跃。学好本课，不只是学习面积计算的基础，更是小学阶段几何教学的基础知识。

为了协助学生建立面积概念，教材在编写上非常重视展现面积概念的形成过程、注重常用面积单位表象的形成、注重在直观操作和形成多样的活动中体验。教材依照先认识面积（包括物体外表的大小和封闭图形的大小），然后归纳面积的概念，再认识常用的面积单位（包括统一面积单位的必要性，为什么用边长是“1”的正方形作面积单位和认识常用的面积单位：平方厘米、平方分米、平方米）

2.教材编写特点

（1）展现概念的生成过程

本单元的概念较多，也较重要。为帮助学生建立概念，教材较充分地展现了概念的生成过程。如，面积概念，是本单元的一个重要起始概念，教材从比较封面的大小和比较平面封闭图形的大小入手，由直接比较到间接比较，以利于学生通过多种比较活动，在获得多种感性认识的基础上，抽象出面积的概念。

（2）重视常用面积单位表象的形成

形成常用面积单位的表象，也就是形成常用面积单位实际大小的观念。这对学生巩固面积的概念，学会根据实际情况选用适当的面积单位，以及进一步形成关于面积的估测能力，都有重要意义。教材除了介绍每个面积单位时，说明它的含义之外，还引导学生通过观察、用手比划等多种方式，让学生感受1平方厘米、1平方分米、1平方米的实际大小，让学生经历各种估计面积的实践活动，来巩固表象。
