My name’s Daming and I’m in Class One. I’m from China and I’m Chinese. I’m from Beijing. Beij ing is a big city. Lingling’s in my class. She’s my friend.

My name’s Lingling. I’m not from England and I’m not English. I’m Chinese. I’m in Class One. Da ming is my friend. We’re twelve years old. He’s from Beijing and he’s in my class. We’re good frien ds.

My name’s Wang Hui and I’m Chinese. I’m from Shanghai. I’m thirteen years old. I’m in Class One with Daming and Lingling. They are my friends.

Miss Li: Please welcome Betty and Tony to our school. They are from Beijing International School . This is Betty.

Betty: Hello. My name’s Betty. I’m from America. I’m 13 years old and I’m a student. I can play f ootball and I can play basketball. I can speak English but I can’t speak Chinese. This is Tony. He’s my friend.

Tony: Hello. My name’s Tony. I’m 11 years old. I’m from England and I can speak English. I can p lay football and table tennis, and I can ride a bike.

Lingling: Can you swim?

Tony: No, I can’t. And I can’t speak Chinese!

My name’s Betty Rixon. I’m American. These are my parents. My father is a teacher at Beijing Inte rnational School. My mother is a secretary at Beijing International School.

My name’s Li Daming. I’m Chinese. These are my parents. My mother is a doctor at the hospital. My father is a factory manager.

My name’s Tony Smith and I’m English. These are my parents. My mother is an English teacher in a university in Beijing. This is my father. He’s a hotel manager.

My name’s Wang Lingling. I’m Chinese These are my parents. They are factory workers.

Lingling: How many people are there in your family?

Tony: There are four – my mum and dad, my sister Linda, and me. I haven’t got any brothers. Lingling: Have you got any aunts or uncles?

Tony: My dad’s got a brother and a sister. My mum’s got a brother, but she hasn’t got a sister. So I’ve got one aunt and two uncles. And I’ve got four grandparents.

Healthy food and drink

Meat and fish are healthy food. Noodles and rice are healthy food. Fruit and vegetables are health

y food but hamburgers and candy aren’t healthy food. Juice, water and milk are healthy drinks bu t Coke isn’t a healthy drink.

To be healthy…

☻Eat noodles or rice AND some vegetables.

☻Drink juice, water and milk, NOT coke.

☻Eat some meat, NOT hamburgers.

☻Eat some fruit, NOT candy or ice cream.

What’s your favourite food and drink? Are they healthy food and drinks?

Daming: What’s day is it today?

Betty: It’s Friday. What are your lessons today?

Daming: Today, we have Chinese at eight o’clock. We have science at nine o’clock and we have maths at ten o’clock. I like maths.

Lingling: I don’t like maths! We have chemistry at half past eleven. We do n’t have science today. In the afternoon, I have art at half past one and I have an English lesson at half past two. What about you, Betty?

Betty: We have English at nine o’clock and science at half past ten.

Lingling: And in the afternoon?

Betty: We have art and history. I love history. It’s my favourite lesson.

Daming’s uncle likes reading and he reads lots of books and magazines. His favourite book is H arry Potter. He likes films and he often goes to the cinema. He doesn’t like football.

Daming’s mother likes candy. She never goes to the cinema, and she doesn’t like table tennis or b asketball. She likes clothes and she usually wears silk shirts. She never wears jeans or trainers. Tony’s sister likes music. She plays the piano and likes to sing. She often goes to concerts and she usually buys CDs by her favourite singers.

Lingling’s father watches the football on television on Saturday and Sunday, but he never goes to a football match. His favourite team is Manchester United. He reads novels but he never goes to t he cinema.

Betty’s aunt and uncle live in the USA. Their favourite clothes are jeans and T-shirts. They usually wear trainers. They always listen to music and often go to concerts. They often watch TV. They do n’t go to the cinema.
