Liu Qi, a famous teacher at the New Oriental Education & Technology Group, recently introduced a new approach to tackling the English section of the graduate entrance exam (GEE) in China. In his lecture titled "New Methods for the New Types of Questions in the GEE English Section," Liu highlighted key strategies and techniques to help students excel in this challenging portion of the exam. One of the main points Liu emphasized was the need for students to familiarize themselves with the new question types that have been introduced in recent years. These include questions that require students to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources, as well as questions that assess students' ability to make inferences and draw conclusions based on the information presented. In order to effectively tackle these new question types, Liu recommended that students develop their reading and critical thinking skills. He stressed the importance of reading widely and regularly, as this can help students improve their comprehension and analytical abilities. In addition, he advised students to practice summarizing and paraphrasing information, as this canbe particularly helpful when answering questions that require students to synthesize information from multiple sources.Another key point that Liu made was the importance of developing a systematic approach to answering questions in the GEE English section. He recommended that students carefully read and analyze each question, paying close attention to key words and phrases that can help guide their answers. He also emphasized the importance of time management, urging students to prioritize questions based on their difficulty level and allocate their time accordingly.Overall, Liu's new methods for tackling the English section of the GEE provide valuable insights and strategies for students looking to improve their performance on this important exam. By developing their reading, critical thinking, and time management skills, students can increase their chances of success and achieve their academic goals.。

考研英语商志传奇词汇班重点笔记全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Here are some key notes on vocabulary for the "Shang Zhi Legend English Class for Postgraduate Entrance Exam Preparation", written from a student's perspective in about 2000 words:Shang Zhi's Legendary Vocab Class: Cracking the CodeAs students gearing up for the daunting postgrad entrance exam, we all know that vocabulary is the bedrock of acing those pesky English sections. That's where the one and only Shang Zhi comes in - the mythical vocabulary maestro whose classes have become the stuff of legend on campus.Right off the bat, Shang Zhi made it crystal clear that rote memorization was out - his methods were all about developing a sophisticated semantic radar. From day one, he drilled home the importance of zeroing in on those deliciously devilish word roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Thoroughly dissecting these lingual building blocks was key to unlocking the hidden etymological patterns lurking within the lexical labyrinth. For the ancient Greek and Latin roots, Shang Zhi had some nifty mnemonic tricks up his sleeve. Who could forget the whimsical storyline he concocted to cement the root 'aud' (meaning hear/sound) in our minds? Involving a sardonic audit clerk whose audacious antics ultimately led to his utter audition debacle, it was both hilarious and incredibly effectual in anchoring that stem. But Shang Zhi's mastery extended far beyond the fossilized vestiges of antiquity. He proved himself a true polymath, artfully navigating the ostensibly opaque territory of academic gibberish that so frequently rears its ugly head in scholarly writing. From quarteronia (those inscrutable 25 words nobody actualy uses) to the ubiquitous, josh-defying nominalizations that litter research papers, he meticulously deconstructed their morphological quagmires. His insights into circumventing this dreaded "ogre-posh" were utterly invaluable.Naturally, no Shang Zhi epic would be complete without his ingenious categorization system for those bothersome lexical rogues that simply refused to be pigeonholed. The "cantakerous constructs" for contrived portmanteaus, the "clash of consonants" for those gnarly tongue-twisters, and of course, the wildly imaginative "WTFugue" for words so outlandishly obscurethey triggered an audible "Say what?" from the entire class. His whimsical taxonomies were sheer verbal wizardry. Then there were his legendary deep dives into the most perilous semantic sargassos - those treacherous pairings of words with maddeningly subtle shades of differentiation. Just pondering chaotic vs erratic, or sanguine vs optimistic, was enough to induce palpitations in even the most stoic wordsmiths. But Shang Zhi would deftly pilot us through those tempests with his astute analyses and precisely curated usage examples. Under his tutelage, we emerged as discerning semioticians with finely calibrated linguistic spidey-senses.Of course, in the supertanker of mnemonics that was Shang Zhi's methodology, no trove would be complete without hispièce de résistance - the elaborate narrative galaxies he wove to capture the essence of an entire semantic field in one grandiloquent metaphorical tapestry. From chronicling the misadventures of a washed-up superhero struggling with ennui while grappling with sartorial choices (thus encapsulating the entire oeuvre of existential adjectives), to the epic saga of feuding deities locked in a metaphysical battle of epoch-shaking cataclysms (summing up the entire cosmos ofobliteration-related vocabulary) - his wildly imaginative vignettes battered our minds into unforgettable retention.Shang Zhi was more than just an adept wordsmith though - he was a supportive sage imparting wisdom that transcended linguistics. Through his tutelage, we learned that the path to verbalistic enlightenment lay in embracing our linguistic peccadilloes with whimsical zeal and shunning linguisticself-consciousness. Honing our logorrheic flair was a joyous, lifelong quest. As I steel myself for the ultimate examinal gauntlet, I'll be calling upon the full armory of Shang Zhi's ingenious mnemonic blueprints and off-the-wall etymological anecdotes. While the competition may be formidable, I know that with his immortal strategies, I'll be locked and loaded with the verbal ammunition to emerge victorious. The legend's legacy shall endure!篇2Here are some key vocabulary notes for an Legendary English Vocabulary Class for Graduate School Entrance Exams, written from a student's perspective (around 2000 words):Vocab Mastery: The Epic Journey BeginsAs an aspiring grad student, I've embarked on an epic quest – conquering the treacherous realm of vocabulary for the English entrance exams. Buckle up, fellow word warriors, for this legendary class promises an adventure like no other!Obscure Origins and Archaic RootsRight off the bat, we delved into the mystical world of etymologies, unraveling the ancient secrets behind words. From the Latin "obscurus" to the Greek "arche," we traced linguistic lineages that would make even the most seasoned scholars gasp in awe. Who knew that such innocuous terms as "enthusiasm" and "sarcasm" harbored such rich, often humorous, backstories? The Multitudinous Families of MeaningBut our journey didn't stop there. We explored the vast families of words, their multitudinous branches bearing subtle shades of meaning. Grasping the nuances between "scarce," "rare," and "infrequent" became a rite of passage, a true test of our wordsmithing prowess.Lexical LegerdemainAnd let's not forget the linguistic legerdemain we mastered – those mind-bending words that could shift meanings based on context or part of speech. "Sanction" could either approve orpenalize, while "resigned" might denote acceptance or departure. Navigating these turbulent lexical waters required dexterity akin to tightrope walking.Mnemonic MadnessTo conquer this voluminous vocabulary, we became mnemonic masters, crafting unforgettable memory aids. From outrageous acronyms to vivid imagery, our strategies knew no bounds. Who could forget the "NUMB" acronym for those negative prefixes (non-, un-, mal-, and bi-), or the mental picture of a "truculent" trucker flipping the bird?Verbal VendettasBut our class wouldn't be complete without a healthy dose of friendly competition. We engaged in rousing bouts of verbal vendettas, pitting our hard-earned knowledge against one another. From rapid-fire definition matches to intenseword-building battles, these clashes forged an unbreakable camaraderie among us lexical warriors. The Bard's BountyAnd what would a legendary vocabulary class be without paying homage to the grand masters of linguistic artistry? We reveled in the bountiful bequests of Shakespeare, Austen, andDickens, marveling at their unparalleled mastery of the English tongue. Dissecting their works became a sacred ritual, revealing hidden gems of expression that would make modern writers weep with envy.Colloquial ConfessionsYet, amidst all this high-brow erudition, we never lost sight of the raw, unvarnished beauty of colloquial speech. We embraced the quirky idioms, the slangy phrases, and the delightfully unrefined argot that pepper our everyday conversations. From "couch potato" to "raining cats and dogs," we celebrated the vibrant tapestry of linguistic expression that truly defines our modern era.The Final FrontierAs our epic journey nears its climax, we stand poised to conquer the final frontier – the graduate entrance exams themselves. Armed with our vast vocabularies, ourbattle-hardened memories, and an unquenchable thirst for lexical mastery, we shall stride forth, undaunted by whatever linguistic challenges await. For in this legendary class, we have forged more than just an expansive word hoard; we have cultiv篇3Here are student-style notes on key vocabulary from the "Legendary Shang Zhi English Vocabulary Class for Postgraduate Entrance Exams", around 2000 words in English:Shang Zhi's Legendary Vocab Class NotesYo guys, it's your mate here with the juicy deets from Shang Laoshi's mind-blowing vocab sessions. This guy is a straight-up legend, droppin' knowledge bombs left and right. Better strap in 'cause these notes are gonna be lit!Roots, Prefixes and Suffixes• This is where it's at, fam. Shang Zhi says nailing these word parts is key for destroying the vocab section.• Prefixes like 'de-', 'sub-', 'pre-' can switch up a word's meaning entirely. Say 'de-merit' vs 'merit' - two totally different vibes.• Suffixes like '-ance', '-cy', '-tion' are mad important too. Like 'abundance' giving us that plentiful, copious sense.• And don't sleep on them roots! Words branching from the same source like 'aud' (hearing) leading to 'auditorium','audition', 'audible' etc.Need to burn these into your brain, bro. Shang Laoshi bent over backwards drilling us on em.Academic Vocabulary• This is the type of ultra-specialized lingo you'd find in scholarly papers and journals.• Heavy-hitters like 'aforementioned', 'ErgoIn sum','substantiated', 'dichotomous'.• Knowing this GRE level vocab is clutch for separating the students from the Masters candidates, ya dig?• Shang Laoshi was not playin' with the practic e tests. Failure was not an option with his rigorous approach!Idiomatic Expressions & Phrasal Verbs• Yo, these are straight-up vibes. Taking English vocab next level with their slangy, almost cryptic semantics.• Like 'piece of cake' or 'backhanded compliment' making no literal sense based on the individual word meanings.• Then you got wild phrasal verbs like 'put up with', 'ran into', 'went off about'. Bet you'd never piece those together just from the separate words!• Maste ring these is what separates the basic speakers from the real Einsteins of Englis。

–volve 从wheel演化而来,轮子——》转evolve 向外转——》v进化involve 向里转——》v包含revolution 从新转——》n革命8.dis-分开如果原有分开的意思,依然表示分开,如果没分开则分开9.-cip- see——》理解——》scienceDiscipline 分开来理解——》学科10. autonomy(自制) 和autocracy(独裁)Auto- 自行-nomy 统治-cracy 统治11.astr-(star) 星星Astronomy 天文学Astrology 占星术-nomy 学科-ology 学科11.alt-(tall)高altitude12.arm-(Mars)13.-ed ——》xxable=able to be xxed14.in- 形容词为否定,动词为向内15.-dict- 说——》做16.Prometheus——》pro- 前Epimetheus ——》epi- 后Prometheus和Epimetheus都是Titan族,与诸神之战的时候Prometheus知道打不过Zeus,告诉Epimetheus投降了,但是Atlas依然与Zeus对抗最后失败了,zeus让atlas托着地球,atlas(地球仪),Zeus娶了Atlas的女儿Maia(May)生了一个女儿叫Hermas(爱马仕)。
第一部分,Introduction to Analytical Writing1.Analytical Writing。
从字面上理解,Analytical Writing译为“分析性写作”。
所谓“分析”,即切分和解析。
将一个复杂对象切分成不同的方面或者部分,再分别加以分析。
GRE 作文考试既不是考语言,也不是考察回答问题的能力,而是分析问题的能力,逻辑思维的能力。
要注意意识到问题的复杂性(一般中国考生习惯将问题尽量简化,这几乎成为一种思维定势,要注意克服)。
考试分为Analyze an Issue task和Analyze an argument task。
所有题目都从question pool 中选出,且一般各大网站总结的高频题都会出现。
2.Scoring。
由两个阅卷老师阅卷。
不使用e-rator,但会使用similarity detection software。
3.analytical,logical and critical writing vs. language skills。
前者是根本。
4.split-test。
注意锻炼一下打字速度。
可从网上下载GRE作文模考软件推荐范文书籍:《北美GRE范文》。
很多其他范文书并不能体现GRE作文的考察重点。
第二部分,Analytical Writing Score Level Description(讲义29页,GRE考试评分标准)1.Sustains insightful, indepth analysis of complex ideas.观点复杂,论证深入。

By Jason & Franklin. This Doc ument Is Strictly Prohibited For Commercial Purposes Without Authorization.
1)It is truly paradoxical that the Amazon, the lushest of all rainforests, is rooted in the most impoverished/infertile of all soils.解:Paradoxical(矛盾的,对立的)预示要出现反义词,在双逗号之间出现lush(茂盛、郁郁葱葱)。
抽象当成一个方程来解,方程的等号,就是paradoxical。
空格是方程未知数要解。
最重要已知数是lush。
所以要填出表示贫瘠的词。
所有题目都要按这个套路去解释。
※一些扮演等号的形容词:ridiculous, surprising, anomalous, ironic(找反义)❤拼写、发音不管,看到这些词,就找反义。
而且是词对词的反义。
单词)对立❤大脑本来就没多少内存,最多16G。
讲多就死机了。
Paradoxical相反ambivalent矛盾的,对立的(ambi表示两者之间)ambiguous(不确定的), ambient(周围的), ambidextrous(左右手都能用,攻守兼备,灵巧的,同义词:dextrous)lasting=everlasting(持久的、短暂的),windy(话多的)=long windy❤老夫考试历程:老GRE考了12次,新GRE改革后2012年可以考5次实际考4次。
世界上考GRE最多的人就在你面前。
考GRE像要过年一样。
Contradictory: contradict(对立、反驳,contra-:反~,Dict:说,speak。
反着说。
)Contravene(违反、违背)diction(措辞),dictionary(词典),benediction(祝福,bene-=good)benefit,benediction,malediction(诽谤、中伤)Vale告别:farewell,Predict(预言、预测=project)abdicate(放弃王位,不干了,ab-=away, dic=说,ate=可能是形容词)If动词结尾是ate,一定可以拆成前缀+词根+后缀3个部分。
不同动词一定有相应词尾,如德语en,法语有ir、er。
Belie:矛盾、对立。
belyingCounter:与……矛盾、不一致。
Be at odds with sth. 谁与谁不和,与……不一致、反What he says is at odds with what he does.Dichotomy:二分法,反义词,Incongruity:-ous△补充3词(方程等号):antithesis(anti-=against,对立)apophasis(通过不声称来声称,claiming by not claiming)如:“我不想说我是新东方最优秀的老师”。
又如,日剧经典台词:“雅蠛蝶!”听不懂的同学问旁边表情诡异的同学,他就会给你解释。
❤植入广告:来学日语吧\(^o^)/~oxymoron(矛盾修饰法,如真实的谎言、令人愉悦的忧伤)。
多产的:lush茂盛的,多产的(果实、著作、孩子),fecund, productive, prolific贫瘠的:Unproductive, infertile, barren, sterile, impoverished(poverty:贫穷)、depleted (用尽了的,贫瘠的,ple-=fill, de-=去掉)implement(贯彻、执行), complement(补充,com-=全部),compliment(恭维),supplement(补充)complementary(恭维的,免费的)Plethora(过量)、dearth(稀缺)题2)Cynics believe that people who deflect/shrug off compliments do so in order to be praised twice.
如termite(白蚁), arachnid(蛛形纲动物),marsupial(有袋动物)都不需要背了。
衡量一个词背不背的标准,就是有没有明显的同反义。
❤方法:一张卡片正面、背面写,每天带7、8张,100多个词。
如果你带《红宝书》在地铁上,那你就不是在看《红宝》,你是在表演行为艺术,你是希望别人看你在看你看《红宝》。
题3)A restaurant’s menu is generally reflected in its décor(装修风格); however(反义)despite this restaurant’s elegant(优雅的)/chic(时髦的)appearance it is pedestrian(乏味的)in the menu it offers.解:however, but,表现的是句对句的反义关系。
However前面就是general,后面就是individual。
方程等号是however。
※4种同义替换的方式:1)拿另一个词做替换,如appearance和décor2)拿代词做替换3)同个词再出现一遍4)上义词和下义词的替换,如:“私有”和“拥有”,“水果”和“苹果”※GRE很喜欢的外来语词就是法语词,附庸风雅。
Décor,decorate。
法语中er结尾的,把er变成ate就可变英语。
❤植入广告:学完英语学法语,会巩固英语单词哟~单词)不吸引人的:Pedestrian(路人), dreary, jejune, monotonous(单调的,mono-=一个)monologue(独白,dialogue对话), monarch(君主,arch=power,monarchy),monochromatic, monocle(单片眼镜,-cle:spectacles眼镜,spectacles),monopoly<垄断,一个人生产>)stodgy, insipid, vapid, prosaic(综合体),Bland(味道温和,不吸引人),humdrum, jaded吸引人的:absorbing, engaging, engrossing, gripping(抓住人心=arresting, snappy,与抓相关的,就是吸引人的), intriguing(intrigue:激起兴趣,密谋、串通), involving(卷入,吸引,involved:复杂), riveting, fascinating, mesmerizing, entrance(使着迷), pallPed-=foot, childfoot:Pedestrian(路人),expedite(加速,<把脚伸出去>),expedient(权宜之计,应急手段,如新东方课后没带伞,用塑料袋套在头上。
), impede, quadruped, centipede(百足虫,percent百分比), peddle(沿街叫卖), pedestal(基座,雕像的脚)Child:pediatrician(儿科医生),pedagogy,pedant(学究),encyclopedia(百科全书)题4neglected/slighted by the United States mediasnappy headlines and too inaccessible to people who lack a background in economics.解:A)代词they指代international financial issues 。
B)方程等号because表示因果关系,它的对应关系一定是句和词之间的同向。
C)and后面一定会出现省略they are。
※有三种对应关系:1)词对词,2)句对句,3)词对句题5)While in many ways their personalities could not have been more different—she was ebullient where he was glum, was awkward, garrulous where he waslaconic/taciturn(话少的)—解:A)Q:他们不能有更多的不同,是同,还是不同?上海方言:“不要太好吃!”=好吃。
B)双破折号中间的叫做插入语。
插入语一般不用看,但中间有空格,一定要看。
双破折号中间出现性格对立,找反义词。
C)Surprisingly一出现,就找词对词的反义。
❤ETS把难的放在前面,要有对生词的忍耐力,和对自己糟糕阅读的忍耐力。
你并不孤独,比你烂的人多了去了。
广义上的反义:Ebullient热情洋溢的,glum不高兴的。
※提高技术门槛。
❤当你站在出题者的角度审视ETS的时候,你就会觉得题目很容易,就是ETS他爹。
