A couple of days ago, I had a dream about missing a train. It was something indicative to me. But I could not get the meaning clearly right that moment and later I realized that it was a sign of my negligence to my study. Later, I started focusing on my academic studies. This is a nice cue card for me and I will explain the matter in brief here.It was a mixed feeling. In fact, for past couple of weeks, I had not been concentrating on my academic activities. I used to move around and bunk the college classes. Moreover, I got a couple of friends who were also similar to me and with their company, I failed to focus on my academic activities. So, when I saw thedream, I started feeling guilty. It was my subconscious mind that was telling me to improve my academic career.Actually, the dream was a kind of symbolic instruction to me.I saw that I was missing a train as I was late to reach the station.I tried to catch the train, ran for a while but could not get into that for a few seconds. It could have been interpreted in several ways. But I discovered that it was my subconscious mind which was worried about me. Through the dream, it was warning me to come back on the track. If I do not follow the usual rules, I may experience some detrimental impacts.I remember the dream very well as it was in my present condition. I was having some wonderful day with my mates and moved to different parts of the city. I made late to return home and followed the same routine in the next day. The dream warned me. And so I remember it. 1. Do you often have dreams at night?Yeah! Basically every night, but sometimes when I’m fully/wide awake, I would forget all of them, which is kind of weird.I heard there are people who have never had dreams, or at least they don’t remember they had one, so sleeping for them is just like, you close your eyes at night, and then open your eyes in the morning, and it feels like just a second has passed. I’m so curious about what that feels like. She was still half asleep (= not fully awake) when she arrived at work.2. Do you remember your dreams when you wake up?Well, just like I said, I would remember some of them, especially vivid and unrealistic ones and of course nightmares. For example, the other night I had a horrible dream about snakes. They were everywhere and even on my body, I just freaked out and woke up in a sweat.跟the other night相似的用法还有the other day/ morning/ evening/ week,他们都表示recently,例如:I saw Jack the other day.3. Do you like hearing others' dreams?Yeah! I like it when my friends are sharing their sweet dreams or nightmares with me. They are full of entertaining and hilarious stories, you can even tell one’s imagination from the dreams they had. And to be honest, some of the nightmares my friends told me are even more thrilling and gripping than the actual ghost stories or horror movies. Yeah, so I just love to hear about them.Gripping表示exciting or interesting in a way that keeps your attention,经常被翻译成“勾人心弦的”。
Describe a dream home you would like to have
Describe a dream home you would like to haveYou should say:Where this place isWhat it is likeWhen you want to live in thereAnd explain why you want to live in such a place我理想中的房子是单元楼,位于20层左右的高度。
My dream home would be an apartment at the height of about 20 floors. There is no tall building around so that I can sit by the window in the evening and enjoy the wonderful view of thousands of sparkling city lights. It would be close to my work place, within 15 minutes’ walk. In this way, I can save the commuting time and do not need to worry about traffic congestion, which is very upsetting. It does not have to be in the city center, but should be near some shopping malls and supermarkets to make life convenient. The home would be even better to have a football yard nearby as I am quite into football.
What different sorts of personal plans do people usually make in their everyday lives?Well I’d say it varies a lot between people, because I mean, some people like to make plans for pretty much everything they do, you know, like what to spend their money on, what food to eat, and how to use their free time effectively, whereas other people don’t really make that many plans, and kind of just live life in a carefree manner.I’d say = I thinkpretty much = 差不多live life in a carefree manner = 悠优哉哉地过生活2. When a student is doing a big assignment, why is it a good idea to make some plans before they start?Well first of all, if they didn’t make any plans, then I think it would be very difficult for them to carry out the work in a m ethodical way, so it’s likely that they would run into a lot of problems. So in other words, I guess what I’m saying is that planning well at the beginning will help a student better understand the requirements of the assignment and therefore give them a good indication of how to manage their time.run into… 碰到A good indication of…= a good idea of…(好的指示)3. In general, what sorts of plans do governments all over theworld usually have?Wow, that’s a pretty tough question, and I’ve never really thought about it before, but I suppose governments around the world have to make all kinds of plans, such as military, economic, and social plans, becausethey’re responsible for the overall well-being of a country.4. What are some of the major problems facing the whole world today? That’s a good question, and I’d say that, unfortunately, we seem to be facing quite a number of problems, such as pollution, climate change, unemployment, lack of drinking water,…what else,…um, …oh and social inequality. So these would be s ome of the main ones, and I’m sure there are more!5. Who do you think should be responsible for solving these problems?Well obviously, a lot of responsibility lies with the government, but depending on the problem, I think we all have to take some responsibility if we want to truly get rid of the problems. So taking air pollution as an example, if everyone makes a conscious effort to use environmentally-friendly transport whenever possible, then I think the air quality will improve dramatically.makes a conscious effort = 自觉努力6. What do you think is the major environmental problem facing the world today?Thinking about it, I’d say it’s probably water pollution, because in many parts of the world, clean drinking water is in extremely short supply, and it's a basic necessity for human survival. So if we continue to pollute the water supply, then it’s exacerbating the problem, which could have detrimentalconsequences in the future.exacerbating the problem = make the problem worse I have a plan to establish a play-ground for kids and a club for the adults in my hometown. This is something I missed a lot in the place where I grew up and that’s the why I have the plan and determination to achieve it.Establishing a kid’s playground adjacent to a club for grown-up people would not be an easy task. I will need to manage the necessary budget, manpower and financial support to actually do that. I will have to be financially rich and connected with the local authority and political leaders to start the plan I have. Honestly, I have this plan for a very long. When I got admitted in my high school, the realization started popping up in my mind that these are two things that our community is missing although they are very important. I knew that was something pretty tough to achieve, but yet I started fostering this tough plan in my mind.As I already said, that would be pretty tough as it involves money, space, power, and people’s involvements. There would be lots of obstacles and I would have to face and resolve in order to fulfill the plan I have. The determination and good will along with the prudent decision would be required. If I do not possess a great enthusiasm and strength of mind, it would become almost impossible to achieve it.Similar Cue Card T opicsYour ability to talk about this Cue Card would enable you totalk about the following Cue Cards as well:Describe a desire you wish to fulfill in future.Describe something you have planned to do in the future.Describe a dream you have.Describe something you want to change about your hometown.Describe a change you would like to bring in your town.

In fact, becoming a pilot, who flies commercial aeroplanes, was my dream in my childhood.I have heard about this job from my teachers and relatives in my childhood and then I had a superficial idea about this job. When I was 15 or 16 years old, I saw a documentary on the tasks the pilots do in Discovery channel that gave me a clear idea of the jobs of a commercial aeroplane pilot.Working as a pilot requires a very comprehensive training and to become a good pilot one needs very good quality and skill sets. Usually, the commercial airline companies hire the candidates and then give them comprehensive training, both theoretical and practical, and after particular hours of flawless flying records, the candidates are sent to work for their jobs. The theoretical parts teach them the different aspects of flying, route, safety and process guidelines where the practical parts allow them to actually fly a real aeroplane. They need to prove that they have gained sufficient skills to fly a commercial plane before they are appointed to do the job.I was a fascination on flying the aero plane in the sky. It wasa thrilling job to me when I was a young. Since different people of the family members started giving me the idea of good careers and what I would become in the future, I started speculating my own idea and I found the job of a pilot very exciting and prestigious. I knew that being a pilot would allow me to visit different countries across our boundaries and would allow me to meet different people and these 2 ideas also attracted me toward this job. For all those reasons it was my dream job when I was young. Which jobs would you say are most respected in your country? If I were asked what the most respected jobs in the country are, I would have to say it would be professional careers such as the fields of law, medicine and engineering. It is the “mainstream choice” and common understanding of parents what they would likely have as a career for their children, simply because of its high projected income and career growth. Some people say it’s better to work for yourself than be employed by a company. What’s your vi ew?I would have to say that I agree with the Chinese billionaire Jack Ma. For young people, it is wise to go to a small company because in a big company you are working as part of a system and you are doing specialized repetitive tasks. But when you go to a small company, you’ll learn the passion, the dream s and you’ll learn to do a lot of things at one time.As you grow, focus on learning and in gathering and developing your skills. When you think you have learned enough, that is the time when you have to think clearly – if you want to be an entrepreneur and to work for yourself. What changes in employment have there been in recent years in your country? There has been a rejuvenation of the “entrepreneurial spirit” in our country; more and more people are involved in starting their own businesses. The “start-up” community is now more alive than ever, even college students launch their start-up businesses while in a university. Even though there is a high failing rate of start-up businesses; still, people are starting to take risk and put their ideas into creation. VolunteerismWorldwide /global (adj)Involve (v)Come up withFinancial rewardHave s.o heart set on +VingIntegral partCan't stand+VingCrave forMottoOver the moonExtraordinary heartMake a differenceget promotion:someone who got promotion is given a more more important job in the same organizationworkloadblue-collar workerrelating to manual workersWorkplace automation has eliminated many of the jobs that enabled blue-collar workers to join the middle class.white-collar workerrelating to those who work in an officeWhite-collar workers are evaluated based on performance.to take time offto stop working for a short timePaid absence from work specifically to recover from illness.Sick leave is usually 1- 1 1/2 days per month. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give'。
Describe an intelligent person you knowYou should say:Who this person isWhen and where you met themWhat kind of person he or she isand explain why you think this person is intelligent这宝贵的一分钟的时间,我们首先要做的就是分类工作。
以这道题为例who the person is? 这个问题其实也就是问background information,而what kind of person he or she is?

Describe a special meal that you hadTask:Describe a special meal that you had.Sample answer:I had many meals and I took part in many celebrations and parties and among them the meal I had with my teachers and classmates in my high school was a very important one and I still remember it.I had the meal at our school community center. The meal was thrown as part of the fare-well of our batch from the high school. The party was help in the evening and our teachers, classmates and some of the members of the school committee as well as our guardians were present. My father was present with me and he was sitting next to me in the meal. This was a special meal because this was the last meal I had with my classmates who had been my friend for more than 4 years. I was bit sa d to admit to myself that I won’t see most of them in my life again and I was happy that I had such a good memory about my school, teachers and friends. There was a short speech by 2-3 of our teachers and by 2-3 guardians and after that the meal was served. Many items were served in the feast and we all ate voraciously as we were hungry.I enjoyed the desert very much. I returned home at late night with my father and started feeling that I will never forget thisevent and the good meal I had with my teachers and friends whom I might not meet again. Describe a special meal you were invited to.You should say:When and where you were invitedWho invited youWhat you ateAnd explain how you felt about the meal. Ok then, well I’m actually quite lucky in the fact that I’ve been invited to quite a number of special meals, and the one I’ve decided to talk to you about was a farewell dinner of a good friend of mine, because he was about to go off to Canada for a few years to start university there, so he invited a few of his close friends for a farewell dinner before heading off.And one of the reasons I’ve chosen to talk about this meal instead of some of the others I’ve been to is simply that it’s still quite fresh in my memory. You know, it was only about a couple of weeks ago when it happened. And as for where we had the meal, well I can’t remember the exact name of the place, but it was quite a posh restaurant somewhere in the centre of the city, and judging from how nice it looked when I walked in, it seemed to be a pretty expensive place to dine. So I was kind of relieved that it wouldn’t be me footing the bill! And we also had our own separate room, which was nice, and probably just as well, seeing as we made quite a bit of noise during the meal, what with all the laughing and stuff going on.Anyway regarding what we ate, well I couldn’t tell you everysingle dish that we had, because there was just so much, you know, the whole table was literally covered with food. I mean, there was crab, chicken, duck, what else, um,……oh yeah, shrimps, and, uh…..oh and a whole load of different vegetables. So by the end of it, I was absolutely stuffed. You know, we all ate masses, because the food was so good, and it would have been a bit of a pity to see it go to waste! But anyway, finally then, with regard to how I felt about the meal, well to put it simply, I really enjoyed it. Because as well as the food, which was fantastic, I really enjoyed everyone’s company. You know, it was great being together with so many good friends, many of which I hadn’t seen in quite a while. So yeah, all in all, it was a really special evening, and I’m extremely grateful to have been invited, and also very grateful to my friend for his generosity, as the bill must have come to quite a lot, I’m sure!Notes:Ok then = Ok, (I’m ready to begin). You can also say, “Ok right then” or “Ok then”I’m actually quite lucky in the fact that I’ve been invited to quite a number of special meals = 我其实很幸运因为我很多次被邀请参加特殊晚餐 (or something like that!)it’s still quite fresh in my memory = I can remember it pretty clearlyposh restaurant = 豪华饭店it was just as well = 幸亏如此quite a bit of = quite a lot offoot the bill = pay the bill (买单)by the end of it = 到最后I was absolutely stuffed = 我撑死了!(you can use "absolutely" before extreme adjectives for emphasis, for example: "the show was absolutely amazing"! 演出太精彩了!/ I'm absolutely starving! 我饿死了!but you can't say "I'm absolutely hungry", as "hungry" isn't a strong enough adjective.) we all ate masses = 我们都吃了好多So yeah = 所以嗯 (often used at the beginning of the final sentence when you are finishing your talk/answer)雅思口语考试中一定要避免的坏习惯雅思口语坏习惯1、不要无的放矢考生应确认自己的回答能够满足考官的提问要求,否则考官会认为考生没有听懂他的问题。

Moreover, after a tiring day, I often feel deadly tired and find it hard to concentrate on studying at home. However, just thinking about the moments when I can speak Chinese gives me a sense of satisfaction, which encourages me to study harder and better. Describe a book you have recently readThe book that I would like to talk about is called "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. It is a thought-provoking novel that tells the story of a young shepherd named Santiago who embarks on a journey to find his personal legend. The reason why I chose to read this book was because it came highly recommended by a friend. She described it as a life-changing book that provides valuable insights into self-discovery and following one's dreams."The Alchemist" is a beautifully written novel that captivated me from the very beginning. The author has a unique style of storytelling that combines elements of magical realism with philosophical teachings. Each page is filled with profound wisdom and inspiring quotes that resonated with me deeply. The main theme of the book is finding one's true purpose in life. Santiago's journey takes him through various encounters and challenges, where he learns valuable lessons about the importance of listening to one's heart and following one's intuition. The book emphasizes the idea that the universe conspires to help those who are passionate about pursuing their dreams. One of the things I loved most about this book is the rich symbolism used throughout the story. The alchemist, a central character in the book, represents a wise guide who helps Santiago on his journey of self-discovery. The desert, the pyramids, and theidea of turning base metal into gold are all symbolic of the transformations that Santiago undergoes along his path. Moreover, "The Alchemist" also touches on universal themes such as the value of love, the power of faith, and the importance of perseverance. These themes allowed me to reflect on my own life and encouraged me to pursue my own dreams and passions. In conclusion, "The Alchemist" is a truly remarkable book that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking inspiration and guidance. It is a powerful reminder to listen to our hearts and have the courage to follow our dreams. After reading this book, I have gained a new perspective on life and am more determined than ever to embark on my own personal legend.。

And explain why you wanted to have this dream
I’d like to talk about the nightmare I had theother night.
It was pretty weird because in my dream mybest friend wanted to kill me! I couldn’t rememberwhy, and I had no other choice but run. It was baffling because in real life, we are like sisters, there’s nothing I could ever do to make her want to murder me. And the place was strange aswell. I remember it was my hometown, but I ran into a castle deep in the woods. There was nocastle in my
hometown at all! Maybe I watched too many movies about vampires lately.Anyway, I
kept running, and when I looked back, surprisingly, my best friend turned into a
bigdinosaur! Just at that moment, I found a car, which was really a lifesaver.
I
jumped into the carand drove as fast as I could. I felt that my heart was in my mouth at that time. But actually forthat part, I felt quite exciting ‘cause I don’t have a driver’s license in reality. It felt awesome, just like the movie
Fast and Furious. But all of a sudden, my best friend showed up in thebackseat, and stabbed me with a knife, and then, she ran off, leaving me in a pool of blood. Iwoke up in a sweat, completely frightened.
And the next day, I told my best friend what a nightmare I had, and she just burst outlaughing. I still couldn’t figure out why I would have that dream, and I certainly wouldn’t wantit to come true.
On the way to a mountain in the dead of winter, I dropped behind the group I was traveling with and got lost. To make matters worse, it began to rain heavily. The wind blew hard, and the blasted forest groaned as if in pain. And so overcast was the sky that night came several hours earlier than usual. Cold and frightened, I was trembling all over. All I could do was shout for help, but no help was forthcoming. The night became darker, the wind blew harder, and the rain poured down more heavily. I ate my last piece of food, a tiny piece of cake. Totally despaired, I was waiting not for miracle but for death. Suddenly, a thunderclap woke me up. A rainstorm was indeed raging outside, but I was grateful to find that I only had a nightmare.
I had a wonderful dream not very long ago. In the dream, I found myself suddenly able to swim. I swam freely in the sea, where I saw many strange trees and plants I had never seen before. While I was swimming, some brightly colored
fish followed me. When I stopped, they all flocked around me, as if anxious to
know who I was. To my amazement, I found they could talk! So we struck up an
interesting conversation. We became good friends and lived together. In my
happiness in the fantasy land, I forgot all my troubles. In fact, I forgot that
I was a human being. Unfortunately, however, this wonderful life didn’t last too
long, for soon the dream ended and I woke up to face the real world again.。
