Step 1: 听前热身
1. The Pentagon (五角大楼)has sent the military to Iraq and the military action has been
taken to deal with the fights there.
2. Dr May is a great scientist. She has done a lot of scientific researches into the Internet.
Today, she’s going to tell us something about the history of the Internet.
Predict: Did the Net begin for military reasons or for scientific reasons?
Step 2: 听力练习
1.听录音,注意进行有重点的听取信息。
2.再听录音,完成相关练习。
Step 3: 学习重点单词和词组
1. project n. 计划;方案;工程
拓展:
(1)同根词:projection n. 设计;发射;投影
projector n. 放映机;投影仪;幻灯机
(2)辨析比较:project, plan和program
plan表示“计划”的最常用语。
program多指团体制定的计划或规模,比project规模较大。
project与plan既指个人计划,又指团体计划,可互换,但与工程有关的多用project。 2. fashion n. 时髦,时尚;(衣服、发型的)流行方式
拓展:
(1)常见词组:after/in the fashion of sb.像某人一样,模仿某人的风格

keep/be in touch with sb. 和某人保持联系(延续性状态)

5. reject vt. 排斥;丢掉;抛弃
辨析比较:reject和refuse
(1)reject表示因为令人不满意、有缺陷或无用而抛弃;它暗示无条件的拒绝。如:
He again offered himself for enlistment and was again rejected.
他再次要求应征入伍,结果再次被回绝了。
(2)refuse也表示“拒绝”,不仅可以用来拒绝别人的请求,还可以用于拒绝别人的邀请或帮助,既是及物动词也是不及物动词。可以与不定式连用,reject则不能。如:
The commander refused to discuss questions of right.
司令官拒绝讨论关于权力的问题。

解析:How (What) about后常接名词、代词、v.-ing,表示询问对方或提出建议。如:
