Failure to follow the guidelines listed below will void the warranty and/or render the 400 Series Casework Products unsafe for operation.•In the event of a malfunction, do not attempt to operate the table until necessary repairs have been made.•Do not attempt to disassemble table, replace mal-functioning or damaged components, or perform adjustments unless you are one of Midmark’s authorized service technicians.•Do not substitute parts of another manufacturer when replacing inoperative or damaged components. Use only Midmark replacement parts.General Safety InstructionsSafety First: The primary concern of Midmark Corporation is that this table is maintained with the safety of the patient and staff in mind. To assure that services and repairs are completed safely and correctly, proceed as follows:(1)Read this entire manual before performing anyservices or repairs on this table.(2)Be sure you understand the instructions con-tained in this manual before attempting to service or repair this table.Safety Alert SymbolsThroughout this manual are safety alert symbols that call attention to particular procedures. These items are used as follows:SECTION VSCHEMATICS AND DIAGRAMSSECTION VSCHEMATICS AND DIAGRAMS5.1 Electrical Schematics / Wiring DiagramsFigure 5-1. 115 VAC Units Electrical Schematic / Wiring DiagramFigure 5-1 illustrates the current flow and wiringconnections between the electrical components in the 115 VAC cart.SCHEMATICS AND DIAGRAMSSECTION VI P ARTS L ISTThe Description column provides a physical description of the component. The Qty. column lists the number of units of a particular component that is required for the subassembly. The letters “AR” denote “as required” when quantities of a particular component cannot be determined, such as:adhesive.Bullets { • } in the Part No. column and the Description column show the indenture level of a component. If a component does not have a bullet, it is a main compo-nent of that illustration. If a component has a bullet, it is a subcomponent of the next component listed higher in the parts list than itself that does not have a bullet.Likewise, if a component has two bullets, it is a sub-component of the next component listed higher in the parts list than itself that has only one bullet.6.3Torque Specifications and ImportantAssembly NotesWhen specific assembly torque specifications, measure-ments, or procedures have been identified, by our engineering department, as required to assure proper function of the unit, those torque specifications mea-surements, and procedures will be noted on the parts illustrations. Adherence to these requirements is essential.6.1 IntroductionThe illustrated parts list provides information for identify-ing and ordering the parts necessary to maintain the unit in peak operating condition. Refer to paragraph 1.5 for parts ordering information. The parts list also illustrates disassembly and assembly relationships of parts.6.2 Description of ColumnsThe Item column of the parts list gives a component its own unique number. The same number is given to the component in the parts illustration. This allows a part number of a component to be found if the technician can visually spot the part on the illustration. The technician simply finds the component in question on the illustra-tion and notes the item number of that component. Then, he finds that item number in the parts list. The row corresponding to the item number gives the techni-cian the part number, a description of the component, and quantity of parts per subassembly. Also, if a part number is known, the location of that component can be determined by looking for the item number of the component on the illustration. The Part No. column lists the MIDMARK part number for that component.(*) L octite is a registered trademark of the L octite CorporationItem Part No.Description Qty. A variety of attachments are included.Figure 1 - BRK4T and BRK10T ComponentsBEFORE USE1. Before using this product, read the owner's manual completely and familiarize yourself thoroughly with the product, its components and recognize the hazards associated with its use.2. Inspect before each use. Do not use if bent, broken, leaking or damaged components are noted.3. Ensure all parts of your kit are included (ref. illustrations and parts list).4. Remove dust caps and plugs from hose coupler and ram coupler.5. Connect hose coupler to ram coupler, ensuring there are no fluid leaks.6. Locate and open release valve. Close release valve clockwise and pump handle until ram is fully extended, then open release valve counter-clockwise until ram has fully retracted.7. With ram fully retracted and release valve open, place pump in horizontal position. Open oil filler screw (located on reservoir body). This will release air trapped within the reservoir. Reinstall oil filler screw. Bleeding Air from System1. Bleed air from ram: Place pump at a higher elevation than the hose and ram as shown in Figure2. With the objective being to force air up stream to the reservoir, close valve and extend ram as fast as possible. Open valve fully allowing oil and air to return to reservoir. Repeat procedure two or three times.2. Bleed air from pump: With ram fully retracted, remove oil filler screw to let pressurized air escape, then reinstall oil filler screw.General Instruction1. Pump may be used in horizontal or vertical position as illustrated (ref. Figure.3).2. Attachments must be fully engaged before applying load.3. Ensure load is centrally applied to attachment or ram saddle. Do not attempt off-center loading.4. Always monitor the force applied to work piece by using a load cell and indi-cator, or monitor pressure developed in the ram by using an in-line pressure gauge, then calculate the applied force using the formula: F = P x A, where F = lbs force, P = pressure in psi, and A = effective ram area in in 2. Ram Area of Model BRK4T is: 0.998 in 2Ram Area of Model BRK10T is: 2.411 in 2 (ref. Load-Pressure Correlation chart on page 10)5. If bowing or bending of ram or any attachment occurs during use, STOP IMMEDIATELY , release pressure and reconsider application. Application may require higher capacity ram kit.Basic SetupThe capacity of the body repair kit can be significantly affected by the number of attachments used and the type of load applied. The approximate load capacity of each function setup is illustrated on page 5. When two or more extension tubes are used together, be sure to position the shorter tube furthest from the ram.OPERATIONApplying Pressure to Work Piece:1. Locate and close release valve by turning it clockwise until firmly closed. (Do not over tighten)2. Operate by pumping handle. This will send fluid from the pump reservoir into the high pressure hose assembly and into the ram assembly.3. Continue pumping until ram reaches desired position or overpressure situation is reached.Figure 3 - Variable Position Figure 2 - Pump/ram air bleedMAINTENANCENOTICE:Use only good quality hydraulic jack oil. Avoid mixing different types of fluid and NEVER use brake fluid, turbine oil, transmission fluid, motor oil or glycerin. Improper fluid can cause premature failure of the jack and the potential for sudden and immediate loss of load. Premium hydraulic jack oil is recommended.Adding oil1. With ram fully lowered, set pump unit in its normal, level position. Locate and remove oil filler screw.2. Fill until oil is within 3/8" of the oil filler screw hole opening, re-install oil filler screw.Changing oilFor best performance and increased system life, replace the complete fluid supply at least once per year.1. With ram fully lowered, remove the oil filler screw from the pump reservoir as above.2. Lay the pump on its side and drain the fluid into a suitable container.NOTICE: Dispose of hydraulic fluid in accordance with local environmental regulations.3. Set pump in its level upright position.4. Fill with good quality jack oil to within 3/8" of the oil filler screw hole opening.5. Perform Bleeding/Air from System procedure (page 4). Reinstall oil filler screw.LubricationA coating of light lubricating oil to pivot points and hinges will help to prevent rust and assure that pump assemblies move freely.CleaningPeriodically check the pump piston and ram for signs of rust or corrosion. Clean as needed and wipe with an oily cloth.NOTICE: Do not use sandpaper or abrasive material on ram or pump piston surfaces.StorageWhen not in use, store with the pump piston and ram fully retracted.TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDEThe following information is intended as an aid in determining if problem exists. If any doubt exists as to the safe and proper use of this product as outlined in this factory authorized manual, remove from service. Inspect before each use. Do not use if broken, bent, cracked or otherwise damaged parts are noted. If the ram has been or suspected to have been subjected to a shock load (a load dropped suddenly, unexpectedly upon it), discontinue use until checked out by an authorized factory service center. Owners and operators of this equipment shall be aware that the use and subsequent repair of this equipment may require special training and knowledge. It is recommended that an annual inspection be done by qualified personnel and that any missing or damaged parts, decals, warning / safety labels or signs be replaced with factory authorized replacement parts only. Any kit that appears to be damaged in any way, is worn or operates abnormally shall be removed from service immediately until such time as repairs can be made. Labels and Owners Manuals are available from manufacturer (see Replacement Parts, pages 6, 7).PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONKTI Body Repair Kits are designed to be used for pushing, spreading, and pressing of vehicle body panels as well as various component parts and assemblies. A variety of attachments are included. Pumps are rated from 8,000 to 10,000 PSI. Rams are rated from 4 to 10 tons.WARNING: when extension tubes and/or offset attachments are used, the rated capacity is always reduced by 50 % for each tube or attachment connected. See Parts Section for identification of "offset" attachments.SPECIFICATIONSGENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION1. Ensure that attachments are fully engaged before applying load.2. Ensure that load is centrally applied to attachment or ram saddle. Do not load off center.3. Always monitor the force applied to workpiece by using a load cell and indicator or you may monitor pressure developed in the ram by using an inline pressure gauge, then calculate the applied force using the formula:F = P x A, where F = lbs force, P = pressure in PSI,and A = effective ram area in in². Ram Area of KTI-63705 is: 0.998 in² Ram Area of KTI-63711 is: 2.431 in²4. If bowing or bending of ram or any attachment occurs during use, "STOP", release pressureimmediately and reconsider application. Application may not be compatible with product, a ram kit with a higher capacity may be needed.BEFORE USE (refer to Figure 1)1. Inspect before each use. Do not use if bent, broken, leaking or damaged components are noted.2. Ensure that product and application are compatible.3. Check to ensure that all parts of your kit are included (see illustration and parts list).4. Carefully remove the dust caps and plugs from hose coupler and ram coupler.5. Connect hose coupler to ram coupler, ensure that there are no fluid leaks.6. Locate and open release valve. Pump handle a few strokes to purge air from system. Close release valve and pump handle until ram is fully extended, then open release valve until ram has fully retracted.7. With pump in normal, horizontal position, locate and open oil filler screw (located centrally on reservoir body). This will aid in the release of air trapped within the reservoir. Retighten the oil filler screw.8. If using air actuated units, an air source of at least 7.8 CFM @ 90psi is required.• Study, understand, and follow all instructions provided with and on this device before use.• Do not exceed rated capacity.• Use only on hard, level surfaces capable of sustaining rated capacity loads.• Do not open oil filler screw unless ram is fully retracted.• Always wear safety glasses when using this equipment.• Do not use as a vehicle lifting device or as a vehicle support.• When extension tubes and/or offset attachments are used, the rated capacity is always reduced by 50% for each tube or attachment connected.• Any attachment that is not loaded centrally, as through the centerline of the ram, is considered to be "offset". See parts section for identification of offset atachments.• Do not modify this device.• Failure to heed these markings may result in personal injury and/or property damage.WARNINGFigure 1- KTI-63705 and KTI-63711 NomenclatureOPERATIONNote: Inspect before each use for evidence of fluidleaks, damaged hydraulic fittings, bent or brokenattachments and missing parts.1. Locate and close release valve by turning itclockwise until firmly closed. (Do not over tighten)2. Operate by pumping handle. This will send fluidfrom the pump reservoir into the high pressure hoseassembly and into the ram assembly.3. Continue pumping until ram reaches desired height. To Release Pressure on work piece:Slowly, carefully turn the release valvecounterclockwise until ram retracts to desiredposition. Never turn release valve more than1/2 full turn. The ram return system is springloaded.MAINTENANCEImportant: Use only a good grade hydraulic jack oil.We recommend Mobil DTE 13M or equivalent.Reinstall oil filler screw. Avoid mixing different types offluid and Never use brake fluid, turbine oil, transmission fluid, motor oil or glycerin. Improper fluidcan cause premature failure of the ram and thepotential for sudden and immediate loss of load.3. Set pump in its level upright position.4. Fill with good quality oil to within 3/8" of the oil fillerscrew hole opening. Reinstall oil filler screw.LubricationA coating of light lubricating oil to pivot points andhinges will help to prevent rust and assure thatpump assemblies move freely.CleaningPeriodically check the pump piston and ram for signsof rust or corrosion. Clean as needed and wipe with anoily cloth.Note: Never use sandpaper or abrasive material onthese surfaces !StorageWhen not in use, store with the pump piston and ramfully retracted.TROUBLESHOOTING* "Bleeding off" means that jack begins to slowly lower rather than keep load at height.ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTYFor a period of one (1) year from date of purchase, KTI, will repair or replace, at its option, without charge, any of its products which fails due to a defect in material or workmanship, or which fails to conform to any implied warranty not excluded hereby.Performance of any obligation under this warranty may be obtained by returning the warranted product, freight prepaid, to K-Tool International 31111 Wixom Rd.
