Unit1 Meet RobinXuZhangjunGood morning, dear judges, I’m Candidate No._______ applying for English teacher of the primary school. It is my great honor to be here to show my presentation.Today, my topic is the reading part Meet Robin. I will describe my thoughts in the following five parts: analysis of teaching material,analysis of students,teaching and learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. Now I will present them one by one.I. Analysis of teaching materialThe first and foremost part of my presentation is the teaching material. This lesson is taken from Unit 1, Book 5, published by People's Education Press (PEP). It is mainly about how to describe a person. It’s a practical topic, closely related to students’ da ily life. They can be benefited from such kind of practical topic.Based on the analysis of teaching material,the teaching objectives are as follows:1.Knowledge objectiveAll students can get the main idea of the passage.2.Ability objectivesMost students can use the sentence pattern s “What’s he like? He is ___.” to describe persons and get the detailed information through skimming and scanning.3.Emotional objectivesStudents should cultivate their own good qualities for themselves in the real situation.On account of teaching material and teaching objectives, the key points and difficult point are as follows:The key points are the main idea of the passage,sentences and the reading strategies. While the difficult point is how to put the sentence patterns and reading skills into actual use.II. Analysis of the studentsAs is known to everybody, students in Grade 5 have learned English for at least two years.They are curious about English and willing to speak English. But they can’t concentrate on the class for a long time. Therefore, all of the factors into consideration.III. Teaching and learning methodsConsidering the teaching objectives and students’ differences, I’ll adopt task-based language teaching approach, communicative approach and audio-visual method to arrange my lesson. Students will finish the activities and tasks in groups and pairs.IV.Teaching proceduresNow let’s come to the most important part---Teaching procedures .Step1 Warming up & Leading inAt the beginning of the class, with my students, I will sing a song just like this:Who’s your English teacher?Who’s your English teacher? Is she pretty or tall or short?Tell me what you know! After the English song, I will divide students into two groups “GA” and “GB” to do a PK game. I’ll describe a student, for example, she has long hair. She is tall,but a bit shy and let others guess who she/he is. Thus, the topic is naturally led in.Target: Such form can create a relaxing learning atmosphere and lead students into the topic effectively.Step2 Pre-readingGiven the knowledge objectives, I will show some pictures on PPT and let students guess what the passage is about.Target: Playing a guessing game could arouse students’ interests to be eager to learn the passage.Step3 While-readingTask1 SkimmingBefore the students read the passage for the first time after the tape, I will put forward two questions on the screen:Q1:What’s his name?Q2:What’s he like?After reading, they should give the answers and I will give some assessments timely.Task2 ScanningNo w that the students have found the main idea of the passage, I’ll give them some T or F exercises for them to finish after the second reading:1. Robin is tall. ( )2. Robin is hard-working. ( )3. Robin is old. ( )Task3 Careful readingAfterwards, the students read the passage after me again and circle out the difficult words, such as short\helpful\hard-working.Then I will lead the students to understand them and sentence patterns"What’s he like? He is___."Target: This step can help students have a thorough understanding to the passage,and master the key points.Step4 Post-readingSince we have learned the new passage, we need to practice it. Students are assigned to draw a robot of their own, and I will ask some volunteers to show their pictures on the platform and give a simple description.The best student can get a star.Target: It can cultivate students’ oral English and autonomous learning ability by cooperating and participating.Step5 SummaryStudents will summarize what they have learned today, and I will say a chant with my students just like this:Short,short, he is short. Helpful ,helpful,he is helpful and stress the importance of this lesson.Target:It can check students’ weak points.Step6 HomeworkAs for the homework, I will assign students to describe their friends by using the key sentences.Target:It can check the teaching effect.V. Blackboard designFinally, I`ll talk about my blackboard design, on the blackboard, at the top of the middle part, I will write the title and under it are the key points. Of course, I will show the group divisions at the left and right corners at the bottom of the blackboard.。
