一.定义: 在句中作状语的从句就叫做状语从句

二.分类: 状语从句包括以下八类

1.时间状语从句: 由when, while, as, before, after, since, till / until, as soon as等引导

a. I shall tell him the good news when he comes.

2.原因状语从句: 由because, as, since, for等引导

a. He didn’t hear me because he was listening to the radio.

b. Since you are free today, you had better show me how to use the computer.

3.地点状语从句: 由where等引导

a. Please put the book where it was after you finish reading it.

4.条件状语从句: 由if, unless等引导

a. I will come to see you if I have time on Sunday.

5.比较或方式状语从句: 由than, as, as if, as...as...等引导

a. I know you do better than he does.

b. The old worker runs very fast as if he were a young man.

6.目的状语从句: 由so that, in order that等引导

a. They set out early so that they could arrive at the station in good time.

7.结果状语从句: 由so, so that, so / such...that...等引导

九种常见的状语从句及其常用的连接词：

(1)时间状语从句：连接词when，whenever, while，as，before，after，till，until，not…until，since, ever since , once, as soon as, the moment，the second, immediately，instantly，directly, hardly…when，scarcely…when，no sooner…than；the first／second／last time，every time;

(2)地点状语从句：连接词where, wherever;

(3)原因状语从句：连接词because，,since，as, for; now(that);

(4)条件状语从句：连接词if，unless，as long as，so long as, as/so far as…(be concerned); suppose/supposing/supposed that; provided／providing that; on condition that;

(5)让步状语从句：连接词although，though，as，even if, even though, whether…or(not); no matter what／when／where／who; wherever，whatever，whoever, however；

(6)结果状语从句：连接词so that; so…that，such…that; with the result that；

(7)目的状语从句：连接词so that，in case，for fear that，lest唯恐, 以免；

(8)方式状语从句：连接词as, as if, as though, how；

(9)比较状语从句：连接词than，as／so…as; such…as, the same …as;

拓展知识：时间状语从句的连接词

状语从句不仅是初中英语学习的重点，而且也是每年中考必考的内容之一。其中的时间状语从句更是重中之重。引导时间状语从句的连词有：while，when, as, as

soon as, until, not" "until, before, after, since, etc.要掌握每个连词的含义及其用法，还要注意它们之间的一些区别。

一、when，while，as

1．三者均可表示“当……的时候”，如果主句表示的是短暂的动作，而从句表示的是一段时间，三者可通用。如：

I met Kang Li as/when/while I was walking along the street.我沿街散步时碰见了康丽。

2．as和when都可与终止性动词连用，while只能与延续性动词连用。如：It was

snowing when we got to the airport.当我们到达机场时，天正下着雪。(不能用while) 、

3．as强调主句与从句表示的动作同时发生；while。强调主句表示的动作持续于while所指的整个时间内；When可指主、从句所述动作同时或先后发生。如：

He sang as he went along.他边走边唱

Please write while I read.我读的时候，请写下来。

When he reached home, he had a little rest.回到家后，他休息了一会儿。

二、after, before, as soon as

1 教师寄语：功夫不负有心人 Everything comes to him who waits.

★请大家举例状语:

状语修饰动词、形容词、副词或整个句子。通常由副词、介词短语、动词不定式、分词和从句等担当。

例如：

1. Naturally , our grandparents were pleased to get our phone call . (副词)

2. We worked hard , from sunrise to sunset . (介词状短语)

3. To help my disabled aunt , I spend an hour working in her house every day . (不定式)

4. Seen from a distance , the farmhouse looked deserted . (过去分词)

5. I know how to light a camp fire because I had done it before .（原因状语从句）

状语的位置比较灵活，可以位于句首、句末或句中。enough用作状语修饰形容词和副词时必须后置。

★复合句之一 状语从句（Adverbial Clause，在句子中起状语作用的从句）。状语从句根据它在句子中的作用分为：时间状语从句、条件状语从句、地点状语从句、原因状语从句、目的状语从句、让步状语从句、结果状语从句和比较状语从句。判断下列句子的类型：

1．I fell asleep when ( as , while ) he was doing his exercises . 他正作练习时我睡着了。（时间状语从句）

2．Where there is a will，there is a way . 有志者，事竟成。（地点状语从句）

3．She didn't come to school because she was ill . 她由于有病没来上学。（原因状语从句）
