一、学院简介武汉大学外国语言文学学院翻译专业历史悠久，学术积淀深厚。

翻译系是华中地区乃至全国翻译教学、翻译研究以及翻译人才培养的重镇。

历史上许多著名翻译家、翻译理论家如辜鸿铭、朱光潜、闻一多、方重、叶君健、袁锦祥、郭著章等都在此从事过翻译教学或研究工作。

继2010年获批外国语言文学一级学科博士点后，2011年获批英语语言文学二级学科博士授予点，开始招收翻译方向博士研究生，2012年又获批翻译学二级学科博士点，是全国为数不多的拥有翻译学博士点的授权单位。

随着翻译学科的迅猛发展，2010年翻译方向从英文系分离成立翻译系。

经过十余年的努力，翻译系已形成翻译本科、翻译专业硕士、翻译学术硕士、翻译学博士以及一级学科博士后流动站的完整教育体系，每年接受一定数量的访问学者和博士后研究人员。

翻译系师资力量雄厚，教师学历层次较高，学术梯队完善，年龄结构合理。

现有专任教师14人，其中博士生导师4人、教授4人、副教授8人、讲师2人。

教师基本都有海外留学经历。

刘军平教授、马萧教授是该学科带头人，在教育部高等学校翻译专业教学协作组、中国翻译协会、中国英汉语比较研究会、中国语用学研究会、中国译协翻译理论与翻译教学委员会、湖北省翻译协会、武汉翻译协会等担任重要学术职务，在全国有着广泛的影响。

2015年，以马萧教授带领的翻译系教学团队荣获唯一的“武汉大学第七届杰出教学贡献校长奖”。

2020年，该团队获得“湖北省教学团队”殊荣。

翻译系青年教师罗菁曾获“中译杯”全国翻译大赛冠军、武汉大学青年教师教学比赛一等奖、湖北省青年教师讲课比赛二等奖。

翻译系还聘请了一批在外交部、联合国、省市外办、翻译机构任职的兼职教授。
