B Scientists are working on something new. It is a machine and it can
give blind people a new way to read. Soon, the blind may be able
to read almost everything.
The machine is called the FingerReader. It is like a ring on a
person's finger. The FingerReader can scan words and then a
computer voice will read the words out loudly. It works more
quickly than any other reading machine.
Making the FingerReader wasn't easy. Scientists tried many
different ideas. It took them three years to make it. Many blind
people helped to test the machine. Jerry Berrier, 62 years old was
one of them. Jerry was born blind. He likes the FingerReader
because it's small. It can be used anywhere.
However, the FingerReader is not ready for sale. Scientists still need
to improve it because it doesn't yet work with smart phones.
TheFingerReader can read books, magazines, newspapers and
computer
screens, but it has problems reading a touch screen.
Scientists believe that many people may want to buy one if the
FingerReader is on sale. About 285 million people in the world
have vision(视力) problems.
( )pared with other reading machines, the FingerReader
A. can read much louder B. looks more beautiful
