课题 4A Chapter 2 More about our friends

单元教材分析 The theme of this chapter is habits. Pupils learn to talk about habits using

the adverbs of frequency. They ask and answer questions about one

another’s habits. In the task, they provide information about their favourite

activities and how often they do them. Then they find out what their group

members like doing in their spare time and find out their group’s favourite

activity.

单元教学目标 1. Listening: Locate specific information

2. Speaking: Asking questions and replying, Present information, ideas and

feelings clearly and coherently.

3. Reading: Predict likely development of a topic, Recognize recurrent

patterns in language structure. Re-read to establish and confirm

meaning.

单元重点难点 1. Adverbs (express frequency): ever, always, usually, often, sometimes,

never.

2. Auxiliary verbs (seek information): Do you ever tidy your room?

3. Simple present tense (describe habitual actions): She plays a lot of

Step 1: Warm-up

1. Sing a song: How my friends have fun

Step 2: Lead in and presentation

1. Introduce the vocabulary: look after your pets, go

to bed early, tidy your room eat out, get up late,

surf the Net.

页脚内容 2. Playing a game using the flash cards: get pupils

into pairs. One pupil from each pair comes out

and choose a flash card. He/ She has to mine

the action for his / her partner to guess what

it is.

3. When pupils have made the correct guess, write

the vocabulary on the board.

4. Get pupils to match the vocabulary with the

pictures on the flash cards. Then go through the

vocabulary with them again.

T: Do you ever look after the pets, May?

P: No, I don’t.

T: Do you ever tidy your room?

P: Yes, I do.

5. Introduce the adverbs of frequency. Make use of

the table on page 10 of the Pupil’s Book.

T: How often do you tidy your room, May? How

many times a week?

P: I tidy my room every day.

T: May tidies her room every day in a week. She

always tidies her room.

6. Teach the other adverbs of frequency in the same

way.

7. Get pupils into pairs. Tell them to ask and answer

questions about each other’s habits.

8. Ask one or two pairs to report the results to the

class.

Step 3: Extension

Read and put the right adverbs next to the actions.

I am Peter. I am ten years old. I go to bed early

every evening. (always) When I get up, I tidy my

room. I go to school five days a week. I surf the

Net after school in the afternoon. (usually) I look after

the pets on Saturday and Sunday. (sometimes) My

mother in busy. We eat out four times a week. (often)

Step 4: Summary

T: What did we learn today?

Sum-up the adverbs of frequency and how to use

the adverbs of frequency to talk about habits.

Step 5: Homework

1. Review the phrases: look after your pets, go to

bed early, tidy your room, eat out, and get up

late, surf the Net.

2. Play a game: Sharp eyes. T shows the cards

quickly, pupils watch and read it fast. Who can

read it faster will get one point.

3. After reviewing the phrases. T shows a card and

ask:

T: Do you ever tidy your room?

P1: Yes, I usually tidy my room.

T: Do you ever surf the Net?

P1: No, I never surf the Net.

4. Change the phrases and make a new dialogue
