Designation:B232/B232M–01e1Standard Specification forConcentric-Lay-Stranded Aluminum Conductors,Coated-Steel Reinforced(ACSR)1This standard is issued under thefixed designation B232/B232M;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year of original adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon(e)indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.e1N OTE—In Table1,the code word for the795000(24/7)construction was editorially corrected to“Cuckoo.”1.Scope1.1This specification covers concentric-lay-stranded con-ductors made from round aluminum1350-H19(extra hard) wires and round, coated steel core wire(s)for use as overhead electrical conductors(Explanatory Note1and Explanatory Note2).1.2ACSR covered by this specification has nine types of coated steel core wire which are designated by abbreviations as follows(Explanatory Note2):1.2.1ACSR/GA-ACSR using Class A zinc-coated steel wire,1.2.2ACSR/GB-ACSR using Class B zinc-coated steel wire,1.2.3ACSR/GC-ACSR using Class C zinc-coated steel wire,1.2.4ACSR/MA-ACSR using Class A Zn-5A1-MM coated steel wire,1.2.5ACSR/MB-ACSR using Class B Zn-5A1-MM coated steel wire,1.2.6ACSR/MC-ACSR using Class C Zn-5A1-MM coated steel wire,1.2.7ACSR/HS-ACSR using Class A zinc-coated high-strength steel wires,1.2.8ACSR/MS-ACSR using Class A Zn-5A1-MM coated high-strength steel wires,and1.2.9ACSR/AZ-ACSR using aluminum-coated(alumi-nized)steel wire.1.3The values stated in inch-pound or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values in each system are not exact equivalents;therefore, each system shall be used independently of the bining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.1.3.1For density, resistivity and temperature, the values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.N OTE1—The aluminum and temper designations conform to ANSI Standard H35.1/H35.1M;Aluminum1350corresponds to UNS No. A91350in accordance with Practice E527.2.Referenced Documents2.1The following documents of the issue in effect on date of material purchase form a part of this specification to the extent referenced herein:2.2ASTM Standards:B230/B230M
