IV. Teaching procedures

Step 1 Lead-in

1. T: Our school will hold a writing competition about detective stories. My friend

Millie is very interested in it. She wants to have a try.

2. T: However, she doesn’t know how to plan a detective story. Could you please

give her some advice?

【设计意图:设置情境引入本课时的写作任务,同时注重培养学生的资源策略。】

3. T: There are 6 elements in a story. They are when, where, who, what, why and how.

Boys and girls, if we want to tell a detective story, what information will you

be interested in? (Time, place, victim, suspect, witness, clue, fingerprint and

so on.)

【设计意图:运用思维导图,将侦探小说包含的所有要素进行罗列。】

4. T: How can we organize all the essential information?

I think it’s a good idea to draw some pictures to help develop the story.

Step 2 Presentation

1. T: Here are the pictures. Look at the pictures carefully and try to describe

them one by one.

2. Pay attention to details and try to match the pictures and sentences.

3. Ask some questions about the crime according to the sentences.

(1) What did Bruce find one day?

(2) What did he plan to do with it?

(3) Did a witness see Bruce running into the building?

(4) Was Bruce charged with murder?

4. Finish the mind map of the story.

5. T: Can you make it clearer for the readers to know which detective story you

will tell? (Add the story name.)

6. T: According to the pictures, Millie has written the first part of the story,

but she has missed out a few words. Can you help her complete the sentences?

7. T: Bruce was not guilty, but how could he prove it?

Work in groups of four and find a way to help Bruce. Each group writes an ending

to the story

and share your stories with your classmates. 名师精编 优秀教案
