Medical Records Administrator
St. Luke’s Hospital
444 West Cooper Street
Saginaw, MI 38383
Dear Ms. Thompson
Ms. Leslie Goldstein, director of your nursing department, has informed me that you intend to hire an assistant administrator. I believe that my formal training in medical records administration and my hospital experience qualify me for this position. Please regard this letter as my formal application.
On May 24, 20--, I will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in medical records administration from Ferris State University. This program offers a thorough background in medical terminology, health science, technical skills, and personnel management, and emphasizes health administration.
As an intern, I served three months in the medical records department of a large hospital, learning the day-to-day operations of such a department and the managerial skills necessary to hold a supervisory position. To help pay for my education, I have worked three summers as a server. This job has provided experience in meeting and dealing with people on a one-to-one basis.
While in college, I have been social chairman of the Ferris Medical Records Association and a member of the American Medical Records Association. The enclosed resume provides further information about my experience and background.
May I arrange an interview to discuss my qualifications in greater detail? You can reach me by writing to the above address or by calling (231) 796-7791 Monday through Friday from 2 to 5 P.M.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Updike:
According to the weekly bulletin of the Drake College Placement Bureau, you have several summer openings for automotive technicians. I believe my academic training and practical experience have provided me with the qualifications needed to fill one of the positions.
I am a second-year student in the automotive service program at Drake College and expect to receive my Bachelor of Science degree in May 20--. My overall academic average is 3.08 on a 4.0 scale.
I have worked nine months as a co-op auto mechanic, and I owned a lawn-care service for one year. The co-op position has given me hands-on experience working with automobiles, and both positions have taught me the value of teamwork. I am hardworking, responsible, and quick to learn, and I will do an effective job for you.
If you desire further information concerning my background and qualifications, the Drake Placement Bureau can supply you with my college transcripts. Just call (231) 982-2319, extension 2607, and request them.
I will be happy to come in for an interview at some mutually convenient time. My number is (231) 892-9531, or you can reach me at the above address.
Sincerely,
