Dear Sir or Madam:

I am a junior student from Nanjing University, Jiangsu Province, China,

which is a partner institution of EXPERTS. My name is XXX and I major in

instructional

technology which is a very young and promising subject in my country.

Learning abroad is always my dream though I have never tried to make it

real due to my financial difficulty until I encountered with EXPERTS, a

financial support ex-change project, a couple

of weeks ago.

As a matter of fact, my ideal career is to become an outstanding designer.

I enjoy life full of innovations and challenges and have great passion in

creating something new and something

amazing. Since I was a little child, I have promised to be an

inventor. Considering my major and also my love of education subject, the

exact job I aspire to is an instructional designer. And now I have already had

courses of

“instructional design” and many other theories and techniques neccessary

for a good instructional designer. In the future, I plan to learn more about

education, especially education

difference in different cultures, and hope that I can get closer to the

nature of education and construct my own education philosophy. Later I want to

be an

instructional designer in the company or something else. Wherever I may

work at, a schools, a colleges or even a technological company, my endeavour

should aim to promote the reform of

people’s learning especially in school environment.

And in this regard, the exchange programme will be very important to me.

In the seven candidate universities, I choose Uppsala not only because of my

teacher’s suggestion but also my own

preference. In my country, there’re many problems in high education. Such as the contradiction between the rational education

concept and disappointing fact of traditional education implemention, the

balance of teaching and reseach in a

university, the contradiction of the career techniques and general

education and so on. I wonder whether there’re the same problems in

Uppsala and how uppsala deals with those problems which are making me puzzled.

As a famous school in the world, Uppsala

university has a longer history compared with my school, she pursues

research and education of the highest quality and aims at contributing to

making our world a better place. So I am very

interested in the education culture there and eager to experience it

fully, in which sense I can have a better understanding of education science.

Besides, I will also pay attention to how

Uppsala encourage the students’ innovation ability and critical

thinking, how the teachers there design their instructions, how the students

there learn, and the structure of curriculum system.

So, referring to the courses Uppsala offers for ex-change students, I

plan to learn the following curriculums: Firstly, Education and Reform

Strategies in Sweden

2PE521. It includes the present educational system in Sweden, the modern

history and the development of the Swedish educational system and so on.

Secondly,

Introduction to Comparative Education2PE525. It includes the history and

the methods of comparative education, and the principles behind analyses of

educational systems in different

countries. Thirdly, I will also select some individual projects

according to my time arrangements. During the ex-change time, I plan to figure

out

the curriculum structure in Uppsala University and do research on the

successful measurements or different concepts that make Uppsala University a

famous one compared to my school. And I

would also keep in touch with my tutor in Nanjing

University, and then contribute more to the research of my tutor

especially in the field of comparative education, for example, the difference

of learning experience in different countries

that Pro. Linhai Lv is carrying out. And of course, my strong motivation to go to Sweden also includes that I

want to experience the different culture there, sharpening my personal skills,

feeling the

beauty of Sweden and finding new friends and teachers there. By the way, I

also want to visit the IKEA’s headquarters there, whose design concept is

very attractive to me. After I finish my

study and come back, I shall publish one paper at least about my

research there. The unforgettable international experience would surely make

me more mature and more capable to deal with

different ideas and to face with any difficulties. In fact, I have

already had my own education concept. Its core is about wisdom, and the wisdom
