Farewell to Arms.In a world plagued by violence and conflict, the presence of weapons has become all too familiar. They have been used to protect, to conquer, and to instill fear. But what if we could bid farewell to these instruments of destruction? What if we could imagine a world without weapons?Weapons, in their essence, are designed to harm and kill. They are the embodiment of human aggression and the manifestation of our darkest instincts. From the primitive stone tools to the advanced firearms of today, weapons have evolved alongside us, becoming more efficient and deadly. However, their existence has done little to bring about true peace and security.Imagine a world where conflicts are resolved through dialogue and understanding, rather than through the barrelof a gun. In this world, nations would no longer spend exorbitant amounts of money on military defense, butinstead invest in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The resources wasted on weapons could be redirected towards improving the lives of people and fostering global cooperation.Without weapons, the power dynamics between individuals and nations would shift. The fear and intimidation that weapons bring would be replaced by empathy and diplomacy. Disputes would be settled through negotiation and compromise, rather than through violence and bloodshed. The world would become a safer and more harmonious place. However, the eradication of weapons is not a simple task. It requires a collective effort and a change in mindset. It necessitates addressing the root causes of violence and conflict, such as inequality, poverty, and injustice. It requires leaders who prioritize peace over power and who are willing to invest in peaceful solutionsrather than military might. In conclusion, bidding farewell to weapons is not justa dream, but a necessity for the survival and progress of humanity. It is time for us to envision a world where weapons are no longer needed, where peace and understanding prevail. Let us strive towards this goal, for a future free from the shackles of violence and war.
A Farewell to Arms永别了武器英语读后感400字Novels can basically be divided into two parts, one is written on the battlefield, and the other is written by Henry and Catherine. As for the war scenes, because there are many geographical nouns in the novel, plus geopolitical unfamiliar, it is not for the time being. In spite of this, a novel or to allow readers to feel the cruelty of war is boring strike the eye and rouse the mind. For example, when Henry was injured and returned to the rear, Hemingway described a simple scene of a soldier's dripping when he died, such as the killing of a compatriot at the time of a large retreat. A driver of Henry, who felt he had not killed an enemy on the battlefield, collapsed a British man to boast of the day; the Italy gendarmerie shot the loss of the Ministry. The officers of the team were almost arbitrary, and they were all Italian. In those years, we always had all the things we didn't want to happen to him. The two groups, even more ambitions, went into a lot of people. They did not know what the war was. They hatedhim but obedient to him. They all defaults to live well after the war, but most of them defaults that the war was going to take his life. In such a situation of being submitting to killing, they fought hard.In the work of farewell to arms, Hemingway spoke frankly and openly about his stand against the war. He is not like others trying to create a strong war scene, he only respect the facts, and the victims of every war; in life we have to have the spirit of Hemingway, in fact, to prove the mistake, do not see the people, no own opinion, and finally only backwardness and absurdity.Destiny is in your own hands, do not blindly bleed, do not sacrifice meaninglessly, recognize yourself, life will go far, and it will be worth living. Keep clear mind every day and develop towards the direction of life.

A Farewell to Armsby Ernest Hemingway Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961), the author of A Farewell to Arms, was born in Oak Park, America. He left from home to be a newspaper writer in Kansas City when he was a young man. In 1918, he joined the Italian Red Cross and became an ambulance driver. At that time, he fell in love with a Red Cross nurse named Agnes von Kurowsky. And then, he created the most celebrated novel---A Farewell to Arms. He also has a lot of popular novels, such as The Sun Also Rises and The Old Man and the Sea.The lead character is henry, an American ambulance driver, serving in the Italian army during World War I. He meets a nurse named Catherine Barkley at a British hospital. Catherine feels so sad for the death of her fiancé, at the same time, henry feels so lonely. So they decide to play a dangerous game of love. After that, henry returns to the front and get a hurt. He is brought to a hospital in Milan to recover. Under the care of Catherine, Henry feels so good. They find that they fell in love with each other. But Henry should return to the front when Catherine is pregnant. Henry tells Catherine that he will come back and they will lead ahappy life. Henry goes through a lot of difficulties in order to return to Catherine. He is almost killed. Eventually, he returns to Catherine. They live a happy time at that time. However, early one morning, Catherine goes into labor. Unfortunately, Catherine and their baby died. In the end, henry walks back to his hotel in the rain. From this novel, we can learn the relationship between love and pain. At first, they just find something to comfort themselves. After going through some difficulties, they find that they truly love each other. When they that they can lead a happy life, they meet the greatest of misfortunes---part for ever. They love, even when genuine, can never be more than temporary in this world. I really hate the end of novel. The end is as same as another novel named the Muslim’s Funeral. It’s too cruel to reader. But this novel has some symbols in the early plots, such as the rain. Catherine feels scary when it rains. She also says that it has a tendency to ruin things for lovers. These words are fulfilled. This’s a sad story. But, I hope that every Jack has his Jill in the real world.。
The Value under the Iceberg--reflection on A Farewell to ArmsWhen I was in high school, I have read The Old Man and The Sea. Though I have heard this book is classic and is worth reading, I was not able to find its real value, because I could not understand what the author wanted to say. I have known, from that time, that it is hard to figure out the value under the iceberg. This term when I know we should read Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms, I am a little worried. As far as I know, it is a love tragedy, which discloses the hatred to war. As for the value of this work, I am totally confused. But I still insist on reading it until I finish it. Thanks to my insistence, I have found something valuable. In my opinion, Hemingway is good at line drawing. He likes describing something with simple words and deleting something he thinks useless. Take the first paragraph as an example, the simple description introduces clearly the background and makes readers feel the dreariness for the war. In his book, there is nearly no description about psychology and appearance. So I should guess and figure out the mood of characters. He has referred to many wines like champagne, whisky and vodka and so on. Though I don’t understand wine, I can realize that kind of indulgence —rational indulgence. I know the hero is real and sincere. After the hero’s friend is killed by people on their own side, he realizes he is fighting for a nonexistent goal. The peace can’t be gained by the war. So he runs away and decides to chase his love. He and Catherine live happily together. But I still think it is not true when the whole world is in war. As expected, his dream breaks and his wife dies. Compared with the bright beginning, the end is heavy. He can’t laugh as light as the beginning. The war brings him so much sadness that he can’t bear it.The war ends at last, but the sadness it brings to people will not end. “A Farewell to Arms”is all people’s hope. Finally, I know the value of iceberg.。

The novel is filled with vivid descriptions of the war-torn landscape and the horrors of battle.Farewell to Arms is a powerful exploration of the human spirit and the impact of war on individuals. After reading A Farewell to Arms-------Ernest Miller Hemingway“A Farewell to Arms” is a famous novel written by Ernest Miller Hemingway who was an American novelist. It is a semi-autobiographical novel concerning events during the Italian campaigns during the First World War. It tells of a groovy kind of love between an ambulance driver and an English nurse in times of war. Hemingway experienced Spanish Civil War and two world wars which provided rich writing material for his works. In Hemingway’s times the United States was going through a crisis period, though its industry was developing rapidly and material was in profusion, there existed disquieting elements, which led to The Great Recession. This full of war, violence, murder, evil, fear, despair and death world had a decisive impact on Hemingway , and it left incurable trauma both physically and mentally.A Farewell to Arms is told through the point of view of Lieutenant Frederic Henry, an American serving as an ambulance driver in the Italian army during World War I. Henry is drafted into the army and is sent to the battlefield of the Italian front to hold the post of lieutenant. Because of the introduction of his good friend Rinaldi, he knows Catherine and falls in love with her. But so on after, Henry has to go to the front, he is wounded at the front by a trench mortar shell when he is eating with his peers, his leg is badly injured and sent to the field hospital then shifted to a newly-established American hospital in Milan where he met with Catherine again, she tends to him in the hospital during his recuperation, and their relationship develops. They love each other so much that they look for as many opportunities as possible to stay together And Henry is nominated awarded a silver medal because of his injury. During this period Henry is pregnant. After Henry’s wound recovers, he has to return to the front, he will miss Catherine as long as he is not so busy. However, Henry narrowly escapes death at the hands of fanatical Italian soldiers, who are executing officers separated from their troops during the Italians' disastrous retreat following the Battle of Caporetto. All that he thinks is that he must meet with Catherine. However, Catherine has gone to Stresa, after many setbacks they have a reunion. After a sojournin an Italian resort, the couple flees to Switzerland on the eve of Henry's arrest for deserting. They lead a peaceful life in Switzerland. They walk, read, and discuss what should do after the war , they are both waiting anxiously for the child's birth. Unfortunately their child is born dead, and Catherine dies shortly after due to hemorrhages. The fate is so merciless!A Farewell to Arms is an excellent novel, which is more than a novel about war, it pays more attention to the love .When reading the book, we can notice how every important event of the war is overshadowed by the strong love story behind. Hemingway’s thought that the war itself is a kind of absurd behavior, ridiculously, many teenage regard it as a glorious thing. Different from those confused young people, Hemingway had a deep and clear understanding about the evil war. Thinking about the themes of this story, though there are several themes in this novel, the major theme is the importance of love and loss in a male-female relationship. In this novel, Hemingway contrasted the cruelty of the war with the personal happiness , lay much emphases on the goodness of love so as to show the brutality of war when love is destroyed. As far as I am concerned, the war is the most evil thing in the world, which not only ruins people’s homes, but vandalizes people’s hearts. Without war, I believe that Henry and Catherine could have led a happy life, Catherine and their child would not die. The title of this novel is A Farewell to Arms, which has two aspects of meaning, in the first sense, it means that say good bye to the war, in the second sense ,say goodbye to the hug, the insinuation is obvious. Through Catherine, we can see that the author still has no idea to forget his first true lover. The last part of this novel makes a strong impression on me. “You can’t come in now,” one of the nurses said. “Yes I can,” I said. “You can’t come in yet.” “You get out,” I said. “The other one, too.” But after I had got them out and shut the door and turned off the light it wasn’t any good. It was like saying good-by to a statue. After a while I went out and left the hospital and walked back to the hotel in the rain. These words seem to be simple, but very exquisite. We can read Henry’s behavi or and language after Catherine dies between lines, where reveals irresistible dismal atmosphere, we can feel the protagonist’s strong feeling of dissatisfaction. In terms of the writing style, we may probably hear about Hemingway’s “Iceberg Principle” ,Th e situations in A Farewell to Arms are chaotic, by presenting a very ordered surface for reader ,the reader is able to examine the chaos and complexity with a fairly clear head. In the beginning of the article, the author uses the techniqueof lyrics, using short and concise words to describe some scenery which suggest the tragic end. Hemingway's distinctive writing style is characterized by economy and understatement , which had a significant influence on the development of twentieth-century fiction writing. It also talks about the Relationship between Love and Pain Against the backdrop of war, Hemingway offers a deep, mournful meditation on the nature of love. Henry’s understanding of how meaningful his love for Catherine is outweighs any consideration for the emptiness ofabstract ideals such as honor, enabling him to flee the war and seek her out. Reunited, they plan an idyllic life together that promises to act as a salve for the damage that the war has inflicted. Far away from the decimated Italian coun tryside, each intends to be the other’s refuge. If they are to achieve physical, emotional, and psychological healing, they have found the perfect place in the safe remove of the Swiss mountains. The tragedy of the novel rests in the fact that their love, even when genuine, can never be more than temporary in this world.。
Name:A Farewell to ArmsAuthor:Ernest Miller HemingwayAmerican novelist and Nobel Prize winnerPublication date:1929Synopsis:During the first world war, a young American named Frederick Henry volunteered to pilot the war in northern Italy. He met Catherine Barkley for the first time in Italy.Once Henry was wounded and immediately taken to hospital.Due to a shortage of nurses and poor medical care, there's no more nurse here to treat Henry.Fortunately Catherine arrived in Milan and the two met again. This time, Henry found himself deeply in love with Miss Barkley.During his medical treatment in Milan, Henry confessed to Catherine and had a good time. Then the two of them decided to be together.Catherine has been taking good care of Henry.Meanwhile, Catherine became pregnant.Henry returned to the field after his recovery, and found that the morale of the Italian army had plummeted. Every soldier felt very disappointed and afraid. The Germans kept attacking and the Italians kept losing. Then the Germans finally defeated the Italians, and the Italians began to run away. The soldiers were very unhappy. They were very resistant to the war.And in front of a bridge, the Italians began arrestingofficers for desertion, without explanation, and firing them all.Unfortunately, Henry was among them.By the time he could interrogate the others, Henry jumped into the river and escaped the execution. He finally realized that his duty as a soldier had been washed away with the river, and that he had no need to stay in this land .At this time, he only has one purpose, that is to find Catherine, and then the two escape from the war. When Henry returned to Milan, he found Katherine in a holiday town on the border. When Henry found Catherine, the two finally got together happily. But the happy life did not last long.Italian police tracked Henry down, forcing them to flee to Switzerland.Henry was lucky enough to escape from Switzerland, and he vowed never to return.Henry and Catherine spent a happy time in Switzerland. He waits for his child to be born soon, and he can have a whole family. But in the end, Catherine died in childbirth, leaving Henry alone.Henry lost all his dreams. His heart died like a lost war.At the end of the war, the war failed and the people suffered. All hope all love has gone with the river.Experience:No matter when the war will bring people endless pain. The success or failure of the war will do harm to soldiers and ordinary people.During the turbulent times of the twentieth century, no one had the right to opt out of war.Countries always fight wars for different interests.Whether in China or in other countries, in ancient times or in modern times, war is unavoidable. When war breaks out, everyone is not immune. In my opinion, Hemingway's book is a farewell to two things: one is war, the other is love.Hemingway used his experiences to express his theme of being tired of war and appreciative of emotion.Hemingway also fought so many wars that he was still plagued by them in his later years. He often couldn't sleep and was covered with war scars. That's why he's tired of war.The pain of war is too great.Hemingway did not directly write war is so bloody violence, but through Henry and Catherine love tragedy to show the brutality of war.If there had been no war, boy Henry would not have gone to war. There would not have been a series of escapes, nor would there have been the absence of his beloved girlfriend Catherine, but in the end the love between Henry and Catherine ended with the death of Catherine in childbirth.Their happy and sweet love is due to the ruthless and cruel war and finally on the road.In Hemingway's mind, war is the root cause of people's hardship and destruction of happy life. He is full of disgust for war, and he hates the pain and pity brought by war.In the rapidly developing society of globalization, there are more and more connections among countries in the world.Although the present society seems to be very peaceful, there are still many contradictions that cannot be avoided.Hegemonism and nationalism, for example, are factors that threaten world peace.Peace is the goal that everyone pursues, and people everywhere are working towards it.The world peace organization and the Red Cross were established to maintain world peace.Only with world peace can we have better development. We should say no to war, to those who try to start it.All actions that challenge peace are against the world.

After reading about weapons, I have come to realize the immense impact they have had on human history. From the earliest stone tools to the most advanced modern firearms, weapons have played a crucial role in shaping the course of human civilization. They have been used for hunting, self-defense, and warfare, and have been a constant presence in human society for thousands of years. One of the most striking aspects of weapons is their ability to both protect and destroy. On one hand, they have been essential for survival, allowing humans to hunt for food and defend themselves from predators. On the other hand, they have been used to wage war and inflict harm on others. This duality of weapons raises important ethical questions about their use and regulation. The development of weapons has also had a profound impact on the evolution of human society. The invention of metal weapons, for example, allowed for the rise of complex civilizations and the establishment of powerful empires. The invention of gunpowder and firearms revolutionized warfare and changed the balance of power between nations. The constant arms race throughout history has led to the development of increasingly sophisticated and deadly weapons, with the potential to cause widespread destruction. In modern times, the proliferation of weapons has become a major global concern. The availability of firearms and other weapons has led to high rates of violence and crime in many parts of the world. The spread of nuclear weapons poses a grave threat to global security, and the potential for a catastrophic conflict looms large.Furthermore, the use of weapons in conflicts around the world has resulted in immense human suffering and loss of life. The devastating impact of war on civilian populations is a stark reminder of the destructive power of weapons.Reading about weapons has also made me reflect on the role of technology in shaping human behavior. The development of new weapons has often led to changes in tactics, strategies, and the conduct of warfare. The use of drones and other advanced military technology has raised new ethical and legal questions about the nature of warfare and the protection of civilian lives. In conclusion, reading about weapons has given me a deeper understanding of their complex and multifaceted role in human history. They have been both a force for good and a source of great harm, and their impact on society cannot be understated. As we continue to grapple with the challenges posed by the proliferation of weapons, it is essential that we reflect on their ethical and moral implications, and work towards a more peaceful and secure world for future generations.。
Peace First---A Farewell to Arms We love peace and don't like war. We love a world full of flowers, not a world full of smoke and crying. But in this world, there are often wars. Local wars have been going on, such as the war between Ukraine and Russia. In China, it's so peaceful that I have no concept of war. I can't even imagine what the war would look like or what the consequences would be.A few days ago, I read a book titled A Farewell to Arms. It gave me a whole new perspective on war.The author of this novel is Ernest Miller Hemingway. He is a famous American writer, the most important representative of the "Lost Generation" in America in the 1920s. He had a wide range of interests, which had an important influence on his writing and the formation of his character. He served in two world wars. In World War I, he fought in Italy and lived in Paris as a journalist for a long time after the war. During these days, he wrote many literary works. During the Second World War, he went to Spain and China to report on the war and actively participated in the anti-fascist military operations. Eventually, he committed suicide due to illnesses and mental depression. He was a legendary author with many masterpieces in his all life. Ernest Miller Hemingway repeatedly thought about his experience of the First World War and had a sharper and more thorough understanding of things, so he often added his feelings andexperiences to his artwork. This novel is based on his own experience of the First World War.With war and love as the main lines, this novel reflects the evils of war and the disasters the war brings to people from the places closest to our lives. It is deeper. During the war, it is hard to guarantee everyone's safety, let alone happiness. It was very dramatic that Frederic Henry and Catherine Barkley met. This is probably about falling in love with the right person at the wrong time. Frederic Henry was an American lieutenant, and Catherine Barkley was an English nurse. Their occupations were specific to the war, and this seems to have signaled their end long ago. At their first meeting, she was still mourning the death of her fiancé, who was killed in the war, but Catherine encourages Henry's progress. Another meeting is when Henry was seriously wounded, and was taken to the hospital where Catherine. She constantly tended to Henry, and their relationship deepens. They fell in love and Catherine became pregnant. Henry was sent back to the front. Henry escaped from the army and was executed for desertion in Italy. Like the title A Farewell to Arms, Henry said goodbye to his presence as a weapon in the war. He was reunited with Catherine again and went to Switzerland. They spent a happy time together. But on the day of Catherine's delivery, the baby died and Catherine died too, just leaving Henry alone. This is actually an expected ending. There are many symbols. Rain isone of the symbols. It is a powerful symbol of the inevitable disappearance of happiness in life. The first example, while the rain fell on the roof, Catherine said it scared her, and said it had a meaning of destroying lovers. Catherine's fear was just like a predict, because bad luck eventually landed on these lovers. The second example, after Catherine's death, Henry left the hospital and walked home in the rain. The rain here proves Catherine's fear. Catherine died in the rain and Henry went to the darkness. By making a pair of lovers the main characters, this novel connects war with their lives, making the readers to understand and empathize more simply. War is brutal, and it means endless casualties. Under war, human nature specially stands out. Some people abandon their friends in order to survive, while others choose to fight side by side. War is just like a mirror that allows one to better understand the preciousness of peace.War is bad, and the people who start it are even worse. In the past, in the face of repeated wars of aggression, we didn’t give in. China still had the backbone and courage to resist its enemies. The Chinese nation united against the enemies. But now, our country is strong, no one can easily bully us. At all times, our country has always been a responsible image in the world. We help the weak and small countries and live in peace with other countries. Even though the dark history is behind us, as Chinese we should remember this history and make it as motivation to move forward. The war can end, but the memory will not. This dark memory willloom over people’s mind in a long time. So, peace first.。
永别了武器英文读后感永别了武器英文读后感永别了武器英文读后感(一)A film adaptation of the same name was made in 1932, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. It was written by Oliver H.P. Garrett and Benjamin Glazer, from the Hemingway novel, and was directed by Frank Borzage. The movie stars Helen Hayes, Gary Cooper and Adolphe Menjou. The film was remade with the same title in 1957, starring Jennifer Jones, Rock Hudson and Vittorio De Sica and was directed by Charles Vidor and John Huston. De Sica was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in this version. The 1996 movie In Love and War, directed by Richard Attenborough, is a more biographical work, based on the same background as A Farewell to Arms. The novel, a love story, draws heavily on Hemingway's experiences as a young soldier in Italy. It tells the story of Lieutenant Frederic Henry, a young American ambulance driver serving in the Italian army during World War I. Henry falls in love with the British nurse Catherine Barkley. After he is wounded at the front by a trench mortar shell, she tends to him in the hospital during his recuperation, and their relationship develops. His recuperation and romance with the now pregnant Catherine ends abruptly when Henry must return to the front. Henry narrowly escapes death at the hands of fanatical Italian soldiers, who are executing officers separated from their troops during the Italians' disastrous retreat following the Battle of Caporetto. He finds Catherine, and after a sojourn in an Italian resort, the couple flees to Switzerland on the eve of Henry's arrest for deserting. InSwitzerland, their child is born dead, and Catherine dies shortly after due to hemorrhages. A Farewell to Arms is an excellent example of the simple, terse prose style that made Hemingway famous.永别了武器英文读后感(二)Compared to other 9th or 10th grade books, the English used in this book is not too difficult, but many of the historical and cultural references will require additional research if you want to fully understand them.A Farewell to Arms focuses on a relationship between an American officer fighting for the Italian army and a British nurse during World War I. It therefore covers two of the most common topics in Western (and perhaps all of) literature: love and war. The book provides a first-person account of the Great War, which is a critical event in Western history, and it discusses some of the perceived cultural differences between Americans, Italians, Britons, Austrians, and Germans. Moreover, for those of you especially interested in writing, this book is famous for its direct, impassive writing style.Hemingway's straightforward writing style usually keeps the grammar simple. However, this also means that the book sometimes describes important events in very few words, so it is easy to miss something important. Moreover, the book makes many references without any explanation—for example, references to Europe, European languages, and war vocabulary—which may make it difficult to understand without looking these up on your own.。
