先进制造技术(AMT):是指在制造过程和制造系统中融合电子、信息和管理技术,以及新工艺、新材料等现代科学技术,使材料转换成产品的过程更有效、成本更低、更及时满足市场需求的先进的工程技术的总称。
广义制造:不仅包括具体的工艺过程,还包括市场分析、产品设计、质量控制、生产过程管理、营销、售后服务直至产品报废处理等在内的整个产品寿命周期的全过程。
狭义制造:是指生产车间内与物流有关的加工和装配过程。
制造系统:是指由制造过程及其设计的硬件、软件和人员组成的一个具有特定功能的有机整体。
制造业:是指以制造技术为主导技术进行产品制造的行业。
制造业的核心要素是质量、成本和生产率。
制造技术是制造业所使用的一切生产技术的总称,是将原材料和其他生产要素经济合理地转化为可直接使用的具有较高附加值的成品/半成品和技术服务的技术群。
制造技术的五个发展时期:工场式生产时期、工业化规模生产时期、刚性自动化发展时期、柔性自动化发展时期、综合自动化发展时期。
先进制造技术的发展趋势:数字化是发展的核心、精密化是关键、极端化是焦点、自动化是条件、集成化是方法、网络化是道路、智能化是前景、绿色化是必然先进制造技术:是在传统制造技术基础上不断吸收机械、电子、信息、材料、能源和现代管理技术等方面的成果,综合应用于产品设计、加工、检测、管理、销售、使用、服务乃至回收的制造全过程,以实现优质、高效、低耗、清洁、灵活生产,提高对动态多变市场的适应能力和竞争力的制造技术的总称。

Overview of advanced manufacturing technology Abstract:In this paper a research on the application of advanced manufacturing technology, including Reverse Engineering (RE), Rapid Prototyping (RP), an Virtual Reality (VR) techniques and so on, in modern product design is developed. Firstly this article tries to analysis the formation and its characters of advanced manufacturing technique nowadays. Then it turns to research on the relations between advanced manufacturing technology and modern product design in subsequent paragraph. Finally it emphasizes on the application of the new technique in modern product design process, such as creation methods, manufacturing process and sales market ways and the relevant areas. In the end we conclude that it’s possible to shorten product development cycle and realize the design innovation with advanced manufacturing technique.Key word:Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Design Methods, Manufacturing Process.With the rapid development and popularization of computer technology, industrial design has come into a new information era. The application of the high and advanced technology has changed the technique means, The process and methods of industrial design greatly, which bring it into an absolutely new period. As a result, designer has to renew his concept and thinking method to adapt to the situation. They must try to combine the advanced technology with excellence design idea to humanize the technique and make them served for people.Our research studies the concept of Advanced Manufacturing Technique and itsapplication in modern product design. The AMT incorporates kinds of techniques of computer, mechanism and so on to character with network , information ,intelligence and integration .The contribution of this study is to extend the research in the application of product design ways. Firstly RE (Reverse Engineering) technique, the front technology of industrial design, can save a great deal of time to develop a new product and increase the efficiency. And the RP (Rapid Prototyping) technology contributes greatly to the rapid developing of product by providing powerful support for improve the design quality of developing product, decrease the cost and shorten the cycle time. Furthermore, VR (Virtual Reality) technology supports to promote designer’s intuition, imagination and creation to a high level, by interacting in the virtual environment. In addition, designer can express the design concept in natural ways by managing the product with 3-dimentional control.There isn’t a recognized definition for Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) until nowadays. But after analyzing its characters we can consider it as following: AMT is the achievements in manufacturing which absorb information technique and modern technique continually. And it’s applied a great deal in the whole manufacturing process of product, machining, test, management, distribution, use, serve and recycling and so on. It aims to enhance the accommodate ability and competed ability in the dynamic changeable market to realize higher quality, better efficient, and lower cost, and flexible production. Firstly AMT is a practicable new technology applied in industry. It differentiates from the traditional manufacture technology, which just the machining craftworks of raw materials turned into finishedproduct, in its enormous applied in machining and assembling process. AMT also integrates design technique, automatism technique and system management technique into all the process of manufacturing. Secondly traditional manufacturing technique is a relatively independently subject with evidently limitation between each other. But AMT combines mechanism, electronic, information, material and management technology into a new intersect subject featured with systematic and integration by the penetrating and inosculating of different specialties and subjects.Rapid prototyping (RP), developing in the late 1980s and influencing the manufacturing hardly just as numerical control technology, is regarded as a big breakthrough in the area of manufacturing in recent years. It integrates the newest technique of computer, numerical control, laser and new materials into the advanced research and developing technique of shaping product, which based on the idea of discrete-accumulate prototyping. According to the forming method of prototyping, the new technique can be classified into the following: SLA, SLS, LOM, FDM and 3DP.Virtual Reality (RE) technology aims to Produce a visually realistically environment with the sense of sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch. It is character with Immersion-Interaction-Imagination. People, who stay in such environment, can use all kinds of special sensors to interact the solids to realize co-control and co-review each other. Designers c an’t attain the deep sense and feel the numerical product model’s properties from the 2-dimensional screen. So model example has to be made to test the manufacturing, assembling, using, and maintenance and recycle attributes and so on. Then it will sure delay the product coming into the market andincrease the developing cost of product. And the new Virtual Reality (RE) technology which integrates virtual reality and product design is doing well in this area.Reveres Engineering (RE) is a process beginning in exiting system and picking up the design database of it reversely by analyzing the function and structure of the product. It’s also named as ”reverse design”for its athwart process relative to the positive process. Designers need to use Reverse Engineering when want to understand and imitate some other exit and strange product or system. Because designers always just get the real model of Product but not kinds of database of 3-model during the developing and manufacturing process . So they have to begin with the product model to obtain the 3-d digital model of it, which can be disposed by the other advanced technology like CAD/CAE/CAM and CIMS.Application of Advanced Manufacturing Technology in Modern Product Design 1.Helps to Diversify the Design MethodsDesigner has to take more than a few months or years to plan an idea and render that idea visually. During the process designer always focused on the modifying repeatedly to make the 3-dimentional expression agree with the originality. With the Rapid Prototyping technique designers can transfer their idea into digital 3-dimentional sculpture in computer, which will be manufactured into a real model in Rapid Prototyping manufacturing system when it is satisfied. Then designer can make a decision of the rationality and veracity when test the 3-dimentional real model. If it is not satisfied then the digital model in computer can be modified easily. The modern design method change the tradition of design process, which brings much moredynamic and creation into their design ideas, and also reduce the time of design creation.Furthermore with the application of Virtual Reality technique product design can abandon the traditional 2-d drawing. Designers can modify the model directly with the users of the 3-d real model, which will be also transformed to the engineers in the engineering design department and the manufacturing department. All designers in different departments can carry out the real-time and concurrent design at the same time through computer network.Reveres Engineering always measures the 3-d data of the model using three dimensional measuring machine or scanner in the first step. Next the data will be input the computer and processed with some special software to obtain an accurate three dimensional surface model. Then engineering design and mould design will start based on the surface model. The work can insure the model agree with the desired shape, and increase the working efficiency.2. Improve the Manufacturing ProcessThe design product always c an’t meet with the technology precise of the stander product in the real production with comparatively backward equipment and production technology. And the design products have to stop before the sales market. But now the emerging of the new manufacturing method, which character with“you can get what you see”, has boosted the creative thinking of designers.Product lifecycle is shorter than before with the fierce competition in market, which need the designers have to plan new product quickly based on market needs.And the planned sample must be manufactured as soon as possible to be carried out the shape test, Properties test and modified with users’ opinions and proposes. After that, the finalize product can be put into the market. And RP technique can realize the process preferably.Firstly the prototyping, which tested by designers and users who can modify it quickly and easily after finding out the defects, can be produced in lower cost and shortest time using the RP technique. Future more designers can experience the comfort and aesthetics of the finished product in time. But the traditional prototyping methods are far away the virtues of RP for its long time and difficult working by using the material of ABS and limited with equipment and craftwork. On the opposite RP technique increase the rate and decreases the cost, which also shortens the market time, increase the production efficiency, improves product quality and optimizes product design. Therefore industrial design has been injected fresh energy that never seen before and a quantitative jump is following.3. Change the Sales Market WayThe application of Virtual Reality (RE) technology in product design calls the emerging of Virtual Product. The process from an idea to a real product includes concept design, details design, produce manufacturing and advertising and market sales. And VR is a numeral product with all the characters of the real product, which can be used actually by designers and users. Design companies can’t wait for the users’ordering but market their products themselves to go on with the fierce competition. So they combine the computer network technique and flash advertisingof the virtual product made with virtual reality technology. Users can surf the products from the internet and interact in the function, structure, appearance and color and so on to put forward the suggestions and proposals by E-mail which can bo referenced by the designers to modify and improve the product. Therefore company can enhance its competition to obtain more market share.ConclusionIn this paper, based on the advanced manufacturing technology, we have proposed some new ways of product innovation. Therefore, providing designers with advance manufacturing technology allow them to focus on the design process and on the innovation of the function, structure and shapes generated.
