CR4.Diode CR4protects the power supply card from reverse-polarity.After CR4is an EMI filter(L2,C8,and C9)and an over-voltage transient suppressor CR5.Power then goes to the+5,and+18/20V dc voltage regulators.C.The+5V dc output is supplied to the control card for the microprocessor memoryand associated logic circuits.The+5V regulator input is isolated from the+18/20V regulator by CR2.Capacitors C6and C7block switching transients.The+5V regulator is a pulse-width-modulator integrated circuit(U1)that drives darlington-connected switching transistors Q1and Q2.Coil L1provides current continuity and energy storage.The fast recovery diode CR1provides thecontinuity path when the switching transistors are off.Capacitors C1and C2store energy for transient load demands.Resistor R6maintains a minimum load on the regulator if normal load is lost.Zener diode CR3protects the load circuits from regulator over-voltage.D.To control timing,the switching regulator has an internal oscillator that isexternally set to20kHz by R4and C3.C4and R5prevent over-dissipation of the switching transistors when power is turned on by providing a"soft start"to increase the voltage slowly.The output voltage feeds back to voltage divider R8and R9and is compared in the regulator internal-error-amplifier.Thereference voltage is generated by the internal reference divider R10,R11,and R12.The regulator keeps the reference and output feedback the same.R11 is adjustable to compensate for variation in the reference voltage.R17is the feedback-gain-control for the amplifier.26-10-10Page335008-138E.Operational amplifiers U2B and U2D provide protection from over-voltage andover-current conditions on the+5V dc output.The outputs of the two circuits are ORd by Q7,Q8,and associated components.If either an over-voltageor over-current(sensed by R7)condition occurs,then Q5,Q6,and associated components cause a high voltage on pin5of U1to disable the output.F.The filtered voltage from the+28V dc input supply is connected to the emitter ofthe series-pass-regulator-transistor Q3.The base of Q3is biased at a voltage determined by error amplifier U2A.The reference voltage for this amplifier is the +5V dc of U1.The+20V dc output is sensed by voltage divider R33,R34,and R35.The output is set by R34.G.The+20V dc output goes through CR12and CR13to reduce the output to+18Vdc.Diode CR14provides
