The text probably comes from .A. a guide bookB. a popular magazineC. a book reviewD. an official documentBUsing too much water or throwing rubbish into our rivers are clear ways that humans can put our water supply in danger, but we also affect our water supply in less obvious ways. You may wonder how paving(铺砌) a road can lead to less useable fresh water. A major part of the water we use every day is groundwater. Groundwater does not come from lakes or rivers .It comes from underground. The more roads and parking lots we pave, the less water can flow into the ground to become groundwater.Human activity is not responsible for all water shortages(短缺). Driver climates are of course more likely to have droughts(干旱) than areas with more rainfall, but in any case, good management can help to make sure there is enough water to meet our basic needs.Thinking about the way we use water every day can make a big difference, too. In the United States, a family of four can use 1.5tons of water a day! This shows how much we depend on water to live, but there’s a lot we can do to lower the number. You can take steps to save water in your home. To start with, use the same glass for your drinking water all day. Wash it only once a day. Run your dishwasher (洗碗机)only when it is full. Help your parents fix any leaks in your home. You can even help to keep our water supply clean by recycling batteries instead of throwing them away.60. Which of the following is most likely to lead to less groundwater?A. Using river water.B. Throwing batteries away.C. Paving parking lots.D. Throwing rubbish into lakes.61. What can be inferred from the text?A. All water shortages are due to human behavior.B. It takes a lot of effort to meet our water needs.C. There is much we can do to reduce family size.D. The average family in America makes proper use of water. 62. The last paragraph is intended to .A. show us how to fix leaks at homeB. tell us how to run a dishwasherC. prove what drinking glass is best for usD. suggest what we do to save water at home63. The text is mainly about .A. why paving roads reduces our waterB. how much we depend on water to liveC. why droughts occur more in dry climatesD. how human activity affects our water supplyCWhen 19-year-old Sophia Giorgi said she was thinking of volunteering to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation (基金会), nobody understood what she was talking about. But Sophia knew just how important Make-A-Wish could be because this special organization had helped to make a dream come true for one her be st friends .We were interested in finding out more, so we went along to meet Sophia and listen to what she had to say.Sophia told us that Make-A-Wish is a worldwide organization that started in the United States in 1980. ”It’s a charity(慈善机构)that helps children who have got very serious illnesses. Make-A-Wish helps children feel happy even though they are sick, by making their wishes and dreams come true,” Sophia explained. We asked Sophia how Make-A-Wish had first started. She said it had all begun with a very sick young boy called Chris, who had been dreaming for a long time of becoming a policeman. Sophia said lots of people had wanted to find a way to make Chris’s dream come true ----so, with everybody’s help, Chris, only seven years old at the time, had been a “policeman” for a day.” When people saw how delighted Chris was when his dream came true, they decided to try and help other sick children too, and that was the beginning of Make-A-Wish,” explained Sophia.Sophia also told us the Foundation tries to give children and their families a special, happy time.A Make-A-Wish volunteer visits the families and asks the children what they would wish for if they could have anything in the world. Sophia said the volunteers were important because they were the ones who helped to make the wishes come true. They do this either by providing things that are necessary, or by raising money or helping out in whatever way they can.64. Sophia found out about Make-A-Wish because her best friend had_______.A. benefited from itB. volunteered to help itC. dreamed about itD. told the author about it65. According to Sophia, Make-A-Wish ______.A. is an international charityB. was understood by nobody at firstC. raises money for very poor familiesD. started by drawing the interest of the public66. What is said about Chris in Paragraph3?A. He has been a policeman since he was seven.B. He gave people the idea of starting Make-A-WishC. He wanted people to help make his dream come true.D. He was the first child Make-A-Wish helped after it had been set up.67. Which of the following is true about Make-A-Wish volunteers?A. They are important for making wishes come true.B. They try to help children get over their illnesses.C. They visit sick children to make them feel special.D. They provide what is necessary to make Make-A-Wish popular.D“People are ruder today because they are rushed and more ‘time poor’ than ever before,” saysPatsy Rowe, “ Manners have fallen off the radar(雷达).” Due to our strong attraction to electronic equipment it is a wonder more people don’t wake up each morning and greet the singing birds with a complaint(抱怨)about the noise. Here are some examples of rudeness. Some people prefer to do almost everything over the internet. To them, dealing with an actual human is like an evolutionary step backward. It feels very slow because humans don’t work at 4G speeds. When you have dinner with friends, you will often notice someone paying more attention to his mobile phone. We have programmed ourselves to think that every new message bringslife-changing news, so taking calls and checking our texts are more important than talking to the people we are with. What is worse, some people even tend to send anonymous(匿名的)rude messages by email. However, rudeness is never acceptable. A major part of the water we use every day is groundwater. Groundwater does not come from lakes or rivers. It comes from underground. The more roads and parking lots we pave, the less water can flow into the ground to become groundwater .Human activity is not responsible for all water shortages(短缺). Driver climates are of course more likely to have droughts(干旱) than areas with more rainfall ,but in any case, good management can help to make sure there is enough water to meet our basic needs .Thinking about the way we use water every day can make a big difference ,too In the United States, a family of four can use 1.5tons of water a day ! This shows how much we depend on water to live ,but there‟s a lot we can do to lower the number .You can take steps to save water in your home .To start with, use the same glass for your drinking water all day. In other words, whether you‟re seeking life-long satisfaction or a few moments of good cheer, you‟ve got to move forward. We‟ve interviewed the experts and found five steps to take toward a sunny mood(心情).Over a 30-year period, University of Illinois researchers asked nearly 120,000 people how income, education, political participation, volunteer activities and close relationships affected their happiness. Reported Newsweek‟s Sharon Begley on the findings, “The highest levels of happiness are found with the most stable and satisfying relationships.”Singing aloud, talking to a stranger, raising your hand: all may increase a feeling of happiness, according to a study from Wake Forest University. Participants(参与者)followed the development of their moods for two weeks and reported feeling happier when they were more outgoing and less happy when reserved or withdrawn. The editors of gave $5 or $20 to 46 strangers by chance. Half the group was told to spend the money on themselves, while the other half was told to spend it on others. Those who‟d shared the wealth felt much happier at the end of the day than those who‟d spent it on themselves. There was no difference in happiness between those who spent $5 or $20, suggesting that it‟s not how much money you spend, but how you spend it, that inspires the spirit.Studies from the Positive Psychology Center showed that discouraged people who wrote down three good things that happened to them each day for six months reported an improved attitude.Drinking water really can help keep you cheerful. Because I don’t trust the descriptions in the guide books or what the travel agency tells me. To begin with, I look up possible destinations and compare them carefully to see which one best suits my needs. Then, I check the cost of travellingto that particular place. If I am going by plane, then I have to compare the prices of the different airlines in order to get cheapest tickets. If I am travelling by train, then I have to look into train passes or special train ticket office. I seldom travel by buses, because of thehigh rate of traffic accidents on the high way. I also need to check hotels. Usually I choose to stay cheap hotels. Finally I try to plan how much I need spend on meals and sightse eing. If I plan carefully, I can usually have a good time for the lowest cost.15-20题W: Hello, Peppy’s Pizza. When you hear a question, read the four possible answers on your paper, and decide which one would be the best answer to the question you have heard.[来源:给力英语网]Questions 11-13 are based on the following passage.I am Lynn. My previous job was as principal of a language school, where I received awardsfor training teachers to teach more effectively. A year ago, I started an international company. I spent months conducting programs in the US and Russia. During this time, some Russian immigrants came to stay at my house. Fortunately, these visitors helped a lot at home andmade life easier. At the same time, I wrote several books to be published by my company and coedited a book for a major publisher.I am grateful I have a photographic memory, so I can remember everything I see. Otherwise, I might not be that productive. In addition to my work, I have a family at home. Some of my children have had serious health problems from birth, but I try to handle those problems well and efficiently. With tremendous help from my parents, the kids are fed, and clothed, and educated. I am busy from the time I get up until the time I go to bed. My time has to be carefully planned. I do not like to be interrupted because I want to accomplish my goals.Questions:11. What was the speaker’s previous job?12. What helps to make the speaker productive according to the passage?13. What does the passage mainly tell us?Questions 14-16 are based on the following passage.Job interviews can generally be divided into three types. The first is what I would call the traditional interview. This is usually just a series of standard questions about qualifications, work experience and expectations. So what you have here is basically a list of quite direct questions, like ‘What duties did you have in your previous job?’Thisis still the model for a lot of interviews today. In my view it’s not the best to select staff. Then there is the case interview. Here the interviewer presents a problem and a series of questions to find out how the candidate would approach the problem. It might go something like this, ‘A company wants to hire more graduates without spending more than its current budget. What would you advise them to do?’This can be particularly challenging, for you need to analyze the problem and solve it.The third type is known as the behavioral interview. The questions are usually designed to find out about how the candidates handle tricky situations in the past. A typical question might be ‘Can you give me an example of a situation where you had to follow orders that you didn’t agree with?’ This opens up a lot of information and the interviewer gets to see more of the candidate.Questions:14. What kind of questions are usually asked in the traditional interview?15. What does the case interview focus on about the candidate?16. What does the speaker mainly talk about?Section CDirections: In section C, you will hear two longer conversations. The conversations will be read twice. After you hear each conversation, you are required to fill in the numbered blanks with the information you have heard. Write your answers on your answer sheet.1.W: Hi, Bruce, it's Naomi.M: Hi, Naomi.W: I'm calling about the conference in Shanghai on November 8th. We have to make some changes.M: OK, go ahead.W: I don't think the peace guardian will be big enough. We need a center that can seat at least 600.M: That many? Any suggestions?W: The Palace Center will be free that day, but it will mean increasing the registration fee by 50$. From800$ to 850$.M: That won't be a problem. Anything else?W: Milan University says they are sending Cara Marasco instead of Professor Bertoni. But the talk would be the same, Opportunities and Risks in the African Market.M: Fine. Make those changes and all inform everyone at my end.2.W: David, we all know you took up skateboarding at ten. But did your parents support you?M: Yeah, my parents even let me skate in the house.W: Did they?M: Yeah, they were pretty cool.W: How about your school work?M: That was fine. I was able to get my school work done with good grades. My only problem was that I had so much physical energy that Icould not sit still in class. Then some teachers started taking my skateboard away.W: That couldn't stop you from staking?M: No way. The cool thing was that my parents managed to find me a different school. The headmaster there was wonderful. He let us plan our own P.E. classes. So guess what class I created.W: Skateboarding.M: You got it. That was my P.E. class. By that time I was turning professional and starting to show off some techniques at competitions.W: Is that when your new style became famous?M: Yeah. Other skaters had this smooth flowing style, but I was kind of like a robot always coming up with new tricks. 1-5BCBCD 6-10 BADCA 11-16ADCBDA 17. History 18. HD3309 19. Photography 20. Confidence, as we all know, is a very important element in learning to speak English. How can you sound more confident when you speak English?First, speak often. The more often you speak, the easier it becomes. Try to think of people you can talk to in English or places where English is spoken a lot. You need to put yourself in a position where you need to speak. Second, relax and think about th e message. It’s easy to get nervous ifyou only focus on the grammar rules when you're speaking. The key to relaxing when you are speaking is to talk about something that you find interesting. Third, practice what you want to say. If you are nervous, try to practice what you want to say to yourself a few times. It can make you more confident.Okay, that's all for today.
(1)Who are the two speakers? (2)What is the possible relationship between them? (3)When did they have the conversation? (4)Where did the conversation take place? (5)Why do they have the conversation? (6)What did they plan to do?2). (1)What is the topic of the passage? (2)Who is the speaker? (3)What facts did the speaker offer?(4)What facts did the speaker fail to offer?3).
Americans have a popular saying“Time is money。
(A)Husband and wife. (B)Waiter and customer.
I just can’t believe you are a police officer,Kay. I remember in high school, you always wanted to be a lawyer.
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen . Welcome to Universal Studio. I’d like to guide you all the way in the amazing park and share the wonderful moments with you.
如果对话中出现special price,那么对话很可能发生在商店; treatment, therapy 等词可以透露出医患关系,以下是有关机场或者旅馆的关键词: Check in 入住登记check out 结账porter 搬luggage 行李book a room 预定房间double room 双人房passenger 乘客economy class 经济舱business class 公务舱runway 跑道passport 护照flight 航班stewardess 乘务员3).
例如: 减价:20% off,special offer,special price,25% discount,sale 原价:regular price,normal price 增长:10% increase in…1/3 climb in……
运用速记符号例如:↑up↓down←left→right=equal2).
What are the two speakers talking about?/What are they talking about?/What are they arguing about?
