ⅠTeaching content:
This material is selected from EI Dorado. It is written by Robert Louis Stevenson. This heading is Spanish, meaning "el dorado", refers to the human ideal paradise, revealing only through continuous efforts can we find the secrets of the happy life, only to insist on ideal struggle can we succeed.[1]

1)Making students grasp the new words and phrases.
2)Making students understand the content correctly.

translation strategies.

Step 1 Lead-in
The teacher introduces the writer of the passage Robert Louis Stevenson, asks students“Have you ever heard of Robert Louis Stevenson?”Then lead in his works EL Dorado.
Step 2 pre-reading
Let students skim the passage and find the new words and phrases. Firstly let students guess the meaning according to the passage, then teach them words and phrased in detail.
Step 3 while- reading
(1) Let students read the passage carefully, ask students to find the main idea. They can discuss their idea in group. (co-operative learning)
(2) The teacher asks some groups to talk about their understanding of the main idea.
(3)Choose two long sentences and make students try to translate by themselves first then disguss with their partners (For example, the first sentence and the last sentence ). Both of them are subordinate clause. The teacher can review the grammar point subordinate clause so as to teach the translation strateies of the long sentences in context. (The Grammar- translation Method)
Step 4 post-reading
Let students discuss the theme and ask them to express their own ideas. The teacher asks:
What do you think of the sentence “Happy is a question of what we want and not of what we have”.(From this step, students can set up the correct outlook on life). Students firstly talk about the topic in the group then the teacher asks some students to share to the whold students. (Communicative Teaching Method)
