Gatsby, the hero of the book, is the representative of the people who have the American dream. His life is like the firework, a beautiful dream. To be honest, I can’t find where Gatsby is “great”. He is just a love loser and has no real friend.
At first he fell in love with a girl who worshiped money. Then he strived to make money and achieve his dream—he wanted to live with Daisy and became a richer man. Although he knew that Daisy, the woman who had married with another person, might not love him so much, he still could not help to love her and appeal to her by luxury houses and sports cars.
Gatsby had no real friends except Nick because the friendship with others which was based on money and interest was false. I still remember that Gatsby used cartloads of oranges to squeezing juice. His Rolls-Royce cars were used to send guests. When he was rich, he had many friends. When he was infamy, those people chose to leave him. On Gatsby’s funeral represented only Nick and a fat man who ever stayed in his library. During his whole life, he had been poor, and he had been rich. At last, on the way to dream, Gatsby became a loser, losing his real value of life.
I like Gatsby because of his bravery and persistence. He encourages me to strive for a better future. His tragic end tells people that sometimes they should learn to give up something and find the right goals of life.。
