Ⅰ Teaching goals
1. Knowledge goals
● 90% of the students can understand the words and can guess the
meanings of the following words: put out, cigarette, normal and
suggestion.
●All the students can use the sentence patterns:
Would you mind (not) doing sth.?
Could you please (not) do sth.?
2. Ability goals
● Train the students’reading ability, such as finding out the topic
sentence, scanning and guessing the meanings of the new words.
●More than 90% of the students understand the general idea of the text
and more than 80% of the students understand the details of the text.
3. Moral goals
●Tell the students they should have good habits, and have good
behavior.

● How to help the students understand the text and train the reading
ability.
Ⅲ Teaching methods and teaching aids
●Teaching methods
To achieve teaching aims,finding out the topic sentence,skimming,
scanning, pair work and group work will be adopted.
●Teaching aids
I’ll apply the multi-media, a courseware and some small objects
to make the input visible, interesting,comprehensible and to make
the students interested in the class.

Step 1 Pre-reading
1. Lead into the new lesson from daily greetings, like Good morning.
2. Use some pictures to teach some of the new words.
Step 2 While-reading
1. Fast-reading
Task 1 Find out the topic sentence of each paragraph.
2. Careful-reading
Task 2 Read Paragraph 1 to find:
What does “etiquette” mean?
Task 3 Read Paragraph 2 to complete the chart.
Etiquette is different in different cultures or situations.
Task 4 Read Paragraph 3 to give suggestions politely.
Task 5 Read Paragraph 4 to find out:
Is there the same etiquette in the world?
What behavior is mentioned in the last paragraph?
Task 6 Read the whole passage again to fill the blanks.
