Step 1. Lead-in
Show some pictures to the students, then ask some questions about the topic to arouse the students’ interest in learning today’s class.

Step 2. Pre-listening and vocabulary
1.Predict the content of the passage by looking at the title and pictures.
2.New words learning
Teacher : Boys and girls, thank you for all your ideas. And now I’d like to introduce a new friend to you, he /she’s ... Do you want to know more about her/him? Please open your book at Page 35. Before listening, please look at the new words on Part 1. Now, look up the words in the dictionary and get there meanings.

Step 3. while-listening
1.Play the tape for students to listen and decide whether their guessing is right or not.
2.Listen again, try to fill in the blanks in the sentences below.
3.Let students share their information in pairs.
4.Play the tape a third time to check answers.
5.Show the listening text and read after the radio.
Teacher:
First listening: now let’s listen to the radio, and check whether your prediction is right or not. Ok, time’s up. Have you found out the main idea of the passage ? Any volunteer?
S:------- Yes, very good, the passage is about ....So your prediction is quite right. That means prediction is so important that you must use this skill both in listening and reading comprehension.
Second time: Now I’ll play it again. Before listening, please go through the questions on you book at Page 35. Ok, let’s listen again. You could write down some key words during listening.
Third time: Let’s check the answers. Question1, who can help me answer it ? Yes, good. Y ou have got the right answer. Question 2 , Lily ,could you ?... Does anyone who don’t agree with her? Oh,John,what’s your opinion? Since there’re two different ideas, let’s listen to this part again to find out the answers. Ok, now, Lily ,have you changed your mind after listening? Yes.... Fourth time: we have finished all the questions. I’ll play the tape for the last time and please read the passage with it. Try to read as loud as you can.
Step 4. Speaking
1.Lead in the topic.
2.Brainstorm: show the words and sentence patterns may be used in speaking.
3.Free talk, work in groups.
