Lu Xun, a national hero--after reading “Better Known as Mark Twain Mark Twain is a American writer, well-known for his irony and humorous writing style . In China ,there is a writer similar to Mark Twain. He is Lu Xun ,who is recognized as the father of Chinese modern novel and ,more importantly ,the spirit of Chinese nation.Lu Xun, with his pen ,his invincible weapon, fought with enemies for the whole nation ,and was engaged in revealing the ugly side of human nature and arousing patriotic consciousness of people. Because his irony articles pointed out the corruption and inaction of the government ,the politicians tried every means to arrest him. To escape from their watch, Lu Xun changed his writing name frequently. Lu Xun is one of his writing names1.Because of continuous hard work and few rest ,Lu Xun died at the age of 55,in Shanghai ,in October,1936. Tens of thousands of people came to his funeral in memory of this national hero. And people put a banner on his coffin, which read “the spirit of Chinese nation” .Every hero ‘s life is a legend. So is Lu Xun’s.Lu Xun, whose real name is Zhou Shuren, was born in Shaoxing County in Zhejiang Province. His family used to be wealthy and of good repute. However ,bad luck seemed to clutch to his family. After his1Lu Xun has 181writing names.family went broke, his father died of a terrible disease. Heavy burden fell on this little children out of the blue. Before going to school in the morning,he had to take care of his sick mother. And one day, he was late for class. The teacher was very angry and punished him badly. That day, Lu Xun carved “早”,which means ”be early”, on his desk. And today we can still see the character on that desk. Knowing his story, many primary school students even carve “早”on their desks! When Lu Xun was 21, he went to Japan for further study. He made his most important decision during this period. At first, he chose to study medicine. His father’s death might account for his choice. But when he saw a movie, he changed his mind totally. In that movie, when Japanese was killing Chinese , other Chinese people seemed to expect the bloody scene, when their compatriots was about to be killed! “they are like ducks which stretch out their necks and wait for their own death” ,written by Lu Xun. “To save our country and people, save the thought is the first mission.” He wrote in an article. From then on, he stopped his medical study and started writing , with the hope that literature can eliminate the ugly nature of Chinese .He wrote a number of literary classics, including “A Madman's Diary”, the first Chinese modern novel, “The True Story of Ah Q”, the first mature Chinese modern novel,” Kong Yiji”and “Medicine”, which exposed the ugly side of human nature and emancipated people's minds. His works also influenced our generation greatly. When we were little children, we usually wrote an article like this” though he is thin and short, his image is strong in my heart.” We never knew why we wrote something like that. Now let me tell you the reason. It is because Lu Xun once wrote an article, in which he wrote “when he stepped away ,his thin receding figure grows stronger and stronger.”As a girl also from Shaoxing County in Zhejiang Province, I admire Lu Xun greatly. My parents told me stories about Lu Xun. My teachers taught me Lu Xuns. And even my classmates often talked about Lu Xun. He exists in every corner of my life. He is not only a famous writer. He is not only a symbol of my hometown. He is not a man who only lived in the history. But he is a remarkable star which emits light and heat in our history and modern time. He is a mirror which reminds us to reflect our social problems. He is an external spirit which stimulates us Chinese to fight for a bright future. But recent years, Lu Xun’s works are being eliminated from our textbooks. Why? It is because In his most works ,he criticized those corrupted officials ,numb lookers-on, ignorant “experts”, academic hooligans, and the like. Those people who existed in old times have come to life. They have multiplied and gradually got the power! They are afraid that people will become intellectual and sensible after reading Lu Xuns. That would be a disaster! They are wiping out the track of LuXun, concealing the truth and making fool of every single person! If there is no villain like Lu Xun, the world will be a better one! Let’s welcome those funny clowns and dumb actors to amuse us! let’s forget unfairness ,corruption and agonies, and become numb and stupid in constant laughter ! Let our country become a hopeless land!。
