1. 学生看单元标题与主题图,教师结合开篇页问题启发学生思考并讨论以下问题。
How do people from different countries communicate with each other at an international
conference?
What do you know about the conference hall in the picture? What do you suppose the people
are doing behind the glass on the upper levels?
Do you know how many working languages there are at this kind of conference?
2.学生欣赏引言。教师先提问:“What does the quote suggest or imply?〞,然后让学生讨论。 教师不必要求学生能准确翻译句子的意思,如果学生能较好地理解句子的含义,教师追问:“What are the benefits of knowing more languages? 〞。教师补充Nelson Mandela的名言:
