Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, faculty and staff, parents, and fellow graduates,Good afternoon! It is truly an honor to stand before you today as the student representative of our graduating class. I would like to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported us throughout this incredible journey. Without your unwavering support and guidance, we would not be standing here today.Over the past years, we have encountered numerous challenges, overcome obstacles, and embraced opportunities for growth. Our time at this institution has shaped us into the individuals we are today – resilient, determined, and well-prepared to face the future.First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge our dedicated faculty and staff. Their passion for teaching and unwavering commitment to our education have played an integral role in our success. The guidance and knowledge they have imparted on us will forever be cherished. They have not only taught us academic lessons but have also instilled in us important life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their unwavering support and belief in our abilities.Additionally, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to our families. You have been the pillars of support, providing us with love, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout our academic journey. Whether it be late nights helping us with our studies orattending every soccer game or ballet recital, your unwavering dedication has shaped our character and instilled in us the values of hard work and perseverance. Your presence here today is a testament to the pride and joy we have brought to your lives, and we are eternally grateful for your unwavering support. As we embark on the next chapter of our lives, let us not forget the friendships we have made during our time here. The bonds we have formed with our classmates will undoubtedly be cherished for a lifetime. These friendships have been a source of strength, laughter, and support throughout our academic journey. In times of stress and uncertainty, our classmates have lifted us up, pushed us to excel, and celebrated our achievements. Let us cherish these relationships and continue to support and uplift each other in the years to come.Graduation represents a milestone, a stepping stone towards the future we have all dreamed about and worked relentlessly for. However, it is essential to remember that graduation is not the end goal but rather the beginning of a new chapter. Today, we stand at the threshold of endless possibilities, ready to make our mark on the world. As we step into this unknown future, it is crucial that we approach it with courage, resilience, and an unwavering belief in ourselves. The journey ahead may not always be smooth sailing, but it is through adversity that we grow and discover our true potential. Let us embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and approach them with an indomitable spirit. Remember, it is during the darkest times that stars shine brightest. As we move forward, let us also not forget the importance of giving back. Our education and experiences have equipped us with a unique set of skills and knowledge. It is our responsibility to use these abilities to make a positive impact on the world around us. Let us strive to be compassionate, empathetic, and active members of society, always seeking opportunities to contribute to the greater good.In conclusion, today is a day of celebration, reflection, and gratitude. We have reached the end of one journey and the beginning of another. As we leave this institution, let us carry with us the memories, lessons, and friendships we have gained. Let us embrace the future with open minds and open hearts, confident in our abilities to conquer any challenges that come our way.Congratulations to the class of [year]! May the road ahead be filled with success, fulfillment, and happiness. Thank you.As we gather here today, we not only celebrate our individual achievements but also acknowledge the collective accomplishments of our class. Each one of us has faced unique challenges and overcome obstacles that have shaped us into the individuals we are today. Together, we have formed a community that is bound by shared experiences and a common goal of personal and academic growth. Our time at this institution has been marked by growth and transformation. We have been pushed outside of our comfort zones, encouraged to question and challenge our beliefs, and provided with opportunities to explore our interests and passions. We have experienced countless moments of triumph and failure, andthrough it all, we have emerged stronger and more resilient. When we first started this journey, many of us may have had doubts about our capabilities and whether we could successfully navigate the demands of college life. However, we have persevered and proved to ourselves that we are capable of achieving greatness. We have learned the importance of hard work, dedication, and self-belief.Our education has not been limited to textbooks and lectures. We have been fortunate enough to learn from professors who have a genuine passion for their subjects, classmates who have diverse perspectives and experiences, and extracurricular activities that have allowed us to explore our interests beyond the classroom. These experiences have broadened our horizons, cultivated our critical thinking skills, and taught us the value of collaboration and teamwork. With the knowledge and skills we have acquired, we are now ready to enter the next phase of our lives, whether it be further education, entering the workforce, or pursuing other endeavors. The world we are about to step into is ever-changing, with new challenges and opportunities constantly emerging. However, because of the education and experiences we have gained, I have no doubt that we are well-prepared to face whatever lies ahead. As we embark on this new chapter, it is important to stay true to ourselves and our passions. Let us not be swayed by societal expectations or the pursuit of success at the expense of our happiness. The world needs individuals who are not onlysuccessful but also compassionate, empathetic, and committed to making a positive impact. In addition to pursuing our own goals and dreams, let us also remember to uplift those around us. We have been fortunate enough to receive an education, but not everyone has had the same opportunities. Let us use our privilege to advocate for those who are marginalized and work towards creating a more just and equitable society. As we say our goodbyes and move forward on our individual journeys, let us not forget the importance of community and connection. Stay in touch with your classmates, support one another in times of need, and continue to foster the bonds that were formed here. Remember that we are part of something greater than ourselves. In conclusion, today marks an important milestone in our lives. We have achieved a great feat, and we should be proud of our accomplishments. However, let us not rest on our laurels. As we leave this institution, let us carry with us the values that have shaped us, the skills that have empowered us, and the memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.Congratulations once again to the class of [year]. May the future hold limitless opportunities and success for each and every one of you. Thank you.。

大学毕业典礼演讲英文5篇大学毕业典礼演讲英文(篇1)Opportunities and ChallengesFirst, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,”Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.”Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the 20XX Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I’m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?”For us, I mean the Chinese youth, 20XX Olympic Games is a tremendous gift. Because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to us .The society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ”Hey! Come here and take the helm! ”How charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. This morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the Olympic Games waving its hand. After chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the Olympic Games. And mine is to be a “comforter” ----that is someone who will give comfort to others. At the end of my speech, I hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. Let us seize opportunities and give a big smile to challenges.大学毕业典礼演讲英文(篇2)My dear Mr. and Misses, my fellows schoolmates.Good morning! As you know and see, it is a sunny bump harvest season. In the city, in our school campus, everywhere is surrounded with roses which we together planted 4 years ago. Today may these roses and our friendship as well be together and comfort our excited hearts! It was four years ago that everyone of us came from every part of China and formed a new collective. As we are young, it’s very easy for us tocommunicate. It was in the past four years that we were ambitious. It was in the past four years that we worried. It was in the past four years that we were content. It was in the past four years that we were vexed. It was in the past four years that we were friendly and lonely ... and it was in the past fours that we studied, lived and respected each other with genuine and with our ambitions. Nothing in the world is more significant than we miss all of these. We miss you─teachers who are tireless in teaching; we will keep your gestures and your white hairs in our hearts deeply; we will miss the quietness with the lights at night in the classroom; we will miss the race and exercise on the playground; we will miss even the crowds in the dining hall and the quarrel on the beds; we will still miss every green piece and every piece of waste paper flying like flakes in the air ... However, today we will leave nothing but the first rose with our Alma Mater and our teachers which is entrusted with our love and respect.4 years seems very long but 4 years seems very short. From now on, we all will go into the society. The society is broad and wide for us. We will shoulder heavy responsibilities; we will work diligently; and we will expect to be informed of good news from one another. Now, I beg you all to cherish the occasion; to remember the names, the status, appearance and the character of the person around you. Now let’s be hand in hand together; let’s present the rose to each other. May the rose carry our appreciation and blessing! We are very closely linked no matter what the world may be. May the fresh rose in our hands keep its fragrants!Thank you all again!大学毕业典礼演讲英文(篇3)president clinton:thank you. thank you, president chen, chairmen ren, vice president chi, vice minister wei. we are delighted to be here today with a very large american delegation, including the first lady and our daughter, who is a student at stanford, one of the schools with which beijing university has a relationship. we have six members of the united states congress; the secretary of state; secretary of commerce; the secretary of agriculture; the chairman of our council of economic advisors; senator sasser, our ambassador; the national security advisor and my chief of staff, among others. i say that to illustrate the importance that the united states places on our relationship with china.i would like to begin by congratulating all of you, the students, the faculty, the administrators, on celebrating the centennial year of your university. gongxi, beida. (applause.)as im sure all of you know, this campus was once home to yenching university which was founded by american missionaries. many of its wonderful buildings were designed by an american architect. thousands of americans students and professors have come here to study and teach. we feel a special kinship with you.i am, however, grateful that this day is different in one important respect from another important occasion 79 years ago. in june of 1919, the first president of yenching university, john leighton stuart, was set to deliver the very first commencement address on these very grounds. at the appointed hour, he appeared, but no students appeared. they were allout leading the may 4th movement for chinas political and cultural renewal. when i read this, i hoped that when i walked into the auditorium today, someone would be sitting here. and i thank you for being here, very much. (applause.)over the last 100 years, this university has grown to more than 20,000 students. your graduates are spread throughout china and around the world. you have built the largest university library in all of asia. last year, 20 percent of your graduates went abroad to study, including half of your math and science majors. and in this anniversary year, more than a million people in china, asia, and beyond have logged on to your web site. at the dawn of a new century, this university is leading china into the future.i come here today to talk to you, the next generation of chinas leaders, about the critical importance to your future of building a strong partnership between china and the united states.the american people deeply admire china for its thousands of years of contributions to culture and religion, to philosophy and the arts, to science and technology. we remember well our strong partnership in world war ii. now we see china at a moment in history when your glorious past is matched by your present sweeping transformation and the even greater promise of your future.just three decades ago, china was virtually shut off from the world. now, china is a member of more than 1,000 international organizations -- enterprises that affect everything from air travel to agricultural development. you have opened your nation to trade and investment on a large scale. today, 40,000 young chinese study in the united states, withhundreds of thousands more learning in asia, africa, europe, and latin america.your social and economic transformation has been even more remarkable, moving from a closed command economic system to a driving, increasingly market-based and driven economy, generating two decades of unprecedented growth, giving people greater freedom to travel within and outside china, to vote in village elections, to own a home, choose a job, attend a better school. as a result you have lifted literally hundreds of millions of people from poverty. per capita income has more than doubled in the last decade. most chinese people are leading lives they could not have imagined just 20 years ago.of course, these changes have also brought disruptions in settled patterns of life and work, and have imposed enormous strains on your environment. once every urban chinese was guaranteed employment in a state enterprise. now you must compete in a job market. once a chinese worker had only to meet the demands of a central planner in beijing. now the global economy means all must match the quality and creativity of the rest of the world. for those who lack the right training and skills and support, this new world can be daunting.大学毕业典礼演讲英文(篇4)Dear faculty members, distinguished guests, families, friends and most importantly, today’s graduates:Good morning!Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak to you here on behalf of the graduates. This is a memorable day both in our personal lives and in the life of this school.Four years ago, we entered Sanjing university. Some of us may have doubted that if we had made the right decision, but now, because of the friends we made , because of the sadness and happiness we shared, because of the teachers who gave us guidance, because of all the time in Sanjiang we spent and all activities we participated in, we could not tear ourselves away from the dear campus. It’s difficult to contemplate that perhaps some of us may never see each other again. But we have so rich memeries and experiences that we will never foget each other.Today we enter the real world to face the challenge .With the knowledge and friends we gained from our university, with the endurance, perseverance, industry we possess, every obstacle that we may encounter in our lives will be overcome. I believe that everyone will make every effort to strive for our life. And remember, an ideal job is not found lying in the street; it takes time and effort to find. But in the end, it will be there for you. So don’t settle for second best and keep looking.Importantly, We are here today to give our thanks to the unconditional support of each of you, your words of encouragement in good times and your words of consolation in difficult moments. We thank you for your enormous patience with us, for always giving a little more than we asked for and for instilling in us the values and principles that govern our lives now and helping us to become the people we are. The degree that we will receive today also belongs to you.Last, I would like to congratulate each of you for having reached this goal. We did it, and now we are ready to graduate!大学毕业典礼演讲英文(篇5)You must believe in yourself and in your work. When our first Batman movie broke all those box-office records, I received a phone call from that United Artists exec who, years before, had told me I was out of my mind. Now he said, “Michael, Im just calling to congratulate you on the success of Batman. I always said you were a visionary.” You see the point here — dont believe them when they tell you how bad you are or how terrible your ideas are, but also, dont believe them when they tell you how wonderful you are and how great your ideas are. Just believe in yourself and youll do just fine. And, oh yes, dont then forget to market yourself and your ideas. Use both sides of your brain. You must have a high threshold for frustration. Take it from the guy who was turned down by every studio in Hollywood. You must knock on doors until your knuckles bleed. Doors will slam in your face. You must pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and knock again. Its the only way to achieve your goals in life.。

After five years of hard work, the students here have successfully completed their primary school study. They are about to bid farewell to their golden childhood and enter a new journey. First of all, on behalf of all the teachers in the primary school, let me express my heartfelt congratulations to you.At this moment, looking at your innocent and happy smiling faces, my eyes seem to emerge every bit of your school. Five years, we walk hand in hand, the small classroom, sprinkled our laughter, wrote down the figure of our struggle, engraved our heroic oath. We get along day and night. We are teachers and students in class and friends after class. We have established a deep relationship between teachers and students. Looking back on the past five years, it seems that it happened yesterday, and every teacher will never forget: the first time you walked into the beautiful and tidy dormitory, lying on the comfortable cot, that excited look; When you first put on the red scarf under the bright national flag, you look solemn; After your own extracurricular learning, you can show your artistic talents on the stage; You use your diligence to repay the teachers fruitful results: in all kinds of competitions held throughout the country, you have achieved good results many times and won many praises for the school! In the past five years, in the fertile soil of Nanshanbilingual school primary school, with the care of school leaders and the careful cultivation of teachers, and with the active cooperation and strong support of parents, you have grown into a vigorous youth.School is not only the cradle of your growth, you are here to fly the ideal, sowing hope. A classmate, a friendship. The primary school graduation let me forget.毕业典礼演讲稿英语作文(精选篇3)you all are leaving your alma mater now. i have no gift to present you all except a piece of advice.what i would like to advise is that "don’t give up your study." most of the courses you have taken are partly for your certificate. you had no choice but to take them. from now on, you may study on your own. i would advise you to work hard at some special field when you are still young and vigorous. your youth will be gone that will never come back to you again. when you are old, and when your energy are getting poorer, you will not be able to as you wish to. even though you have to study in order to make a living, studies will never live up to you. making a living without studying, you will be shifted out in three or five years. at this time when you hope to make it up, you will say it is too late. perhaps you will say, "after graduation and going into the society, we will meet with an urgentproblem, that is, to make a living. for this we have no time to study. even though we hope to study, we have no library nor labs, how can we study further?"i would like to say that all those who wait to have a library will not study further even though they have one and all these who wait to have a lab will not do experiments even though they have one.when you have a firm resolution and determination to solve a problem, you will naturally economize on food and clothing.as for time, i should say it’s not a problem. you may know that every day he could do only an hour work, not much more than that because darwin was ill for all his life. you must have read hisachievements. every day you spend an hour in reading 10 useful pages, then you will read more than 3650 pages every year. in 30 years you will have read 110,000 pages.my fellow students, reading 110,000 pages will make you a scholar. but it will take you an hour to read three kinds of small-sized newspapers and it will take you an hour and a half to play fourrounds of mahjian pieces. reading small-sized newspapers or playing mahjian pieces, or working hard to be a scholar? it’s up to you all. henrik ibsen said, "it is your greatest duty to make yourself out."studying is then as tool as casting. giving up studying will destroy yourself.i have to say goodbye to you all. your alma mater will open her eyes to see what you will be in 10 years. goodbye!毕业典礼演讲稿英语作文(精选篇4)In the past decade alone, we’ve seen historic hurricanes devastate islands across the Caribbean. We’ve seen ‘1,000-year floods’ hit the Midwestern and Southern United States multiple times in a decade. And we’ve seen record-breaking wildfires ravage California and record-breaking typhoons kill thousands in the Philippines. This is a true crisis. And if we fail to rise to the occasion, your generation, your children, and grandchildren will pay a terrible price. So scientists know there can be no delay in taking action – and many government and political leaders around the world are starting to understand that.Yet here in the United States, our federal government is seeking to become the only country in the world to withdrawfromthe Paris Climate Agreement – the only one. Not even North Korea is doing that. Those in Washington who deny the science of climate change are no more based in reality than those who believe the moon landing was faked. And while the moon landing conspiracy theorists are relegated to the paranoid corners of talk radio, climate skeptics occupy the highest positions of power in the United States government. Now, in the administration’s defense, climate change, they say, is only a theory – yeah, like gravity is only a theory.People can ignore gravity at their own risk, at least until they hit the ground. But when they ignore the climate crisis, they are not only putting themselves at risk, they are putting all humanity at risk. The years are in a hurry, and the flowers are blooming and falling. In a twinkling of an eye, the words of six years of primary school students have passed like clouds. However, my heart is still very attached to my alma mater. After six years of primary school life, I can usher in a strange school gate. Here, many memories are clearly reflected in my mind. From the first day of the first grade, I came to this mysterious and strange campus. Day by day in the past, the blink of an eye to the second grade. Once, my friends and I were chasing each other on the playground. We were very happy. Without waiting to be happy, a sudden pain happened to me. There was a classmate who stretched out his foot, but at that time I was still completely immersed in the game. One of them didnt pay attention and was knocked down. But because of my confusion, half of my face fell out of blood, just like the face was destroyed. At that time, the players were stunned and dull for two seconds before they realized that I was wrestling. Some of my friends wipe my face with paper towel while walking, while others hold me, showing great concern and anxiety in their eyes. At that time, my tears have been spinning in my eyes, moving tears have been flowing down.I still remember that when I held the sports meeting, I chose two events, both of which were running, but I was just making trouble. I ran the 100 meter race first, and I came last. I was very discouraged, but the teacher came to comfort me and encouraged me all the time. One day later, it was my 200 meter run, and I was the last runner. The teacher not only didnt say that I was useless, but also encouraged me all the time, saying that you will get good results in the next race. I also want toget good grades very much. Im born without motor cells. No matter how I practice, I cant even get up. In sports, I may be a Dou that I cant help.Goodbye, dear alma mater, the past events in your arms are still fresh in my mind. They are the shining pearls in our memory warehouse; In your arms, we become sensible from ignorance; In your arms, we grow from childish to mature; In your arms, we have changed from timidity to bravery. Dear students, please remember that we are together bit by bit, day and night, let our friendship last forever.毕业典礼演讲稿英语作文(精选篇6)Instead of challenging Americans to believe in our ability to master the universe, as President Kennedy did, the current administration is pandering to the skeptics who, in the 1960s, looked at the space program and only saw short-term costs and long-term benefits.President Kennedy’s era earned the nickname, ‘The Greatest Generation’– not only because they persevered through the Great Depression and won the Second World War. They earned it because of determination to rise, to pioneer, to innovate, and to fulfill the promise of American freedom. They dreamed in moonshots. They reached for the stars. And they began to redeem – through the Civil Rights Movement – the failures of the past. They set the standard for leadership and service to our nation’s ideals. Now, your generation has the opportunity to join them in the history books. The challenge that lies before you – stopping climate change –is unlike any other ever faced by humankind. The stakes could not be higher. If left unchecked, the climate change crisis threatens to destroy oceanic life that feeds so many people on this planet. It threatens to breed war by spreading drought and hunger. It threatens to sink coastal communities, devastate farms and businesses, and spread disease.。
1Dear leaders, teachers, dear students.Good morning, everyone!I am Ma Haidong of the 2 class of martial arts science. It is a great honor to stand here, representing the 20XX graduates of the Institute of animal science and technology, to say goodbye to our alma mater, to teach our teachers tirelessly, to say goodbye to the classmates at sunset, and to say goodbye to this unforgettable time. First of all, let me, on behalf of all the graduates, express our heartfelt thanks and respect to all the leaders and teachers who have worked hard.Four years, more than 1400 days and nights, it sounds so long, and when we face today, we feel that it is so short. Some people say that time is a book that is too hasty. Now when it hastily passes, these more than 1400 nights carry too many memories. I cant forget the freshness and confusion when I entered the school. I cant forget the figure of my learning building in the teaching building. I cant forget the laughter and laughter of your bedroom, and I cant forget you and me on the sports field. The scene of the scene is like a gorgeous clippings, a movie that is coming to the curtain, playing our happiness and sadness, recording our youth and past, and witnessing our profound feelings. Believe that the university days of acid, sweet, bitter, spicy to everyone left a precious memory; four years of learning to believe that the university will become an inexhaustible driving force for each of our futuredevelopment; believe in sincerity, simplicity, courage and perseverance will be the wealth of our life.Four years ago, we dreamed of dreams and hoped to meet the farmers. Four years later, we will go to everywhere to cherish our love for our alma mater and create our own brand new tomorrow. In the four years of western agriculture, we have experienced the age of the first year of innocence. We have gone through the light dance and flying of the sophomore. We witnessed the rapid development of alma mater and college, and also witnessed the continuous growth of ourselves. We learned to analyze and think, to learn to cooperate and to compete, to learn to inherit and to innovate, and to further learn how to surpass and break through their own limits. Now we are graduating. All these warm memories will be engraved on our hearts. It is the most memorable day of our lives.Today is a happy day, an exciting day, and a thankful day. On this day, we finally put on the sacred bachelors clothing, and successfully ended our four years of college life. After this day, our university life will draw a full end. We will say goodbye to the students who get along with each other, say goodbye to the teacher, bid farewell to the beautiful picturesque campus, and step on a new journey. But we will never abandon the drip in the West Farm, never forget the teachers advice in the confusion and hesitation, never forget the sincere greetings of the students when they are sad and sad, because there are our most brilliant youth, because this beautiful youth is integrated into the selfless love and students of the teachers. Sincere feelings. In the face of alma mater, I would like to say thank you, thank you for alma mater to provide us with learning environment, and build a solid platform for our growth and success.Facing the college, I want to say thank you and thank the leadership of the college. The teachers care and education for us over the past four years is your hard work. Lets make constant efforts in the family of kinetic Sciences, which is a united and vigorous family.Facing the teacher, I want to say thank you, thank you for the hard work of sweat, unselfish dedication, countless days and nights of ploughing, giving us a sober mind, a pair of eyes and a hearty soul, which is the truth that you have given us professional knowledge and taught us to be a man.In the face of my classmates, I want to say thank you, thank you for your mutual care and support in the past four years. I think you will always cherish this feeling just like me. On the occasion of the parting, I would like to speak to the alma mater and the college on behalf of the graduates. We will not forget that we are a proud West farmer, and will not forget that he is a proud moving person. Students are about to travel. Please allow me to represent all __ graduates.I wish our leaders and teachers good health and good work.I wish our fathers and mothers eternal youth and good luck.I wish our Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University and our animal science and Technology Institute every success.I wish our 2022Annual graduates a bright future!Thank you. 2my dear mr. and misses, my fellows schoolmates, good morning! as you know and see, it is a sunny bump harvest season. in the city, in our school campus, everywhere is surrounded with roses which we together planted 4 years ago. today may these roses and our friendship as well be together and comfort our excited hearts!it was four years ago that everyone of us came from every part of china and formed a new collective. as we are young, it’s very easy for us to communicate. it was in the past four years that we were ambitious. it was in the past four years that we worried. it was in the past four years that we were content. it was in the past four years that we were vexed. it was in the past four years that we were friendly and lonely ... and it was in the past fours that we studied, lived and respected each other with genuine and with our ambitions. nothing in the world is more significant than we miss all of these.we miss you─teachers who are tireless in teaching; we will keep your gestures and your white hairs in our hearts deeply; we will miss the quietness with the lights at night in the classroom; we will miss the race and exercise on the playground; we will miss even the crowds in the dining hall and the quarrel on the beds; we will still miss every green piece and every piece of waste paper flying like flakes in the air ... however, today we will leave nothing but the first rose with our alma mater and our teachers which is entrusted with our love and respect.4 years seems very long but 4 years seems very short. from now on, we all will go into the society. the society is broad and wide for us. we will shoulder heavy responsibilities; we will work diligently; and we will expect to be informed of good news from one another. now, i beg you all to cherish the occasion; to remember the names, the status, appearance and the character of the person around you. now let’s be hand in hand together; let’s present the rose to each other. may the rose carry our appreciation and blessing! we are very closely linked no matter what the world may be. may the fresh rose in our hands keep its fragrants!thank you all again! 3Cutting through complexity to find a solution runs through four predictable stages: determine a goal, find the highest-leverage approach, discover the ideal technology for that approach, and in the meantime, make the smartest application of the technology that you already have —whether it’s something sophisticated, like a drug, or something simpler, like a bednet. The AIDS epidemic offers an example. The broad goal, of course, is to end the disease. The highest-leverage approach is prevention. The ideal technology would be a vaccine that gives lifetime immunity with a single dose. So governments, drug companies, and foundations fund vaccineresearch. But their work is likely to take more than a decade, so in the meantime, we have to work with what we have in hand – and the best prevention approach we have now is getting people to avoid risky behavior.Pursuing that goal starts the four-step cycle again. This is the pattern. The crucial thing is to never stop thinking and working – and never do what we did with malaria and tuberculosis in the 20th century – which is to surrender to complexity and quit. The final step – after seeing the problem and finding an approach – is to measure the impact of your work and share your successes and failures so that others learn from your efforts. You have to have the statistics, of course. You have to be able to show that a program is vaccinating millions more children. You have to be able to show a decline in the number of children dying from these diseases. This is essential not just to improve the program, but also to help draw more investment from business and government. But if you want to inspire people to participate, you have to show more than numbers; you have to convey the human impact of the work – so people can feel what saving a life means to the families affected.I remember going to Davos some years back and sitting on a global health panel that was discussing ways to save millions of lives. Millions! Think of the thrill of saving just one persons life – then multiply that by millions. … Yet this was the most boring panel Ive ever been on –ever. So boring even I couldnt bear it.What made that experience especially striking was that I had just come from an event where we were introducing version 13 of some piece ofsoftware, and we had people jumping and shouting with excitement. I love getting people excited about software – but why cant we generate even more excitement for saving lives? You cant get people excited unless you can help them see and feel the impact. And how you do that – is a complex question.Still, Im optimistic. Yes, inequity has been with us forever, but the new tools we have to cut through complexity have not been with us forever. They are new – they can help us make the most of our caring – and thats why the future can be different from the past. The defining and ongoing innovations of this age – biotechnology, the computer, the Internet – give us a chance we’ve never had before to end extreme poverty and end death from preventable disease.Sixty years ago, George Marshall came to this commencement and announced a plan to assist the nations of post-war Europe. He said: "I think one difficulty is that the problem is one of such enormous complexity that the very mass of facts presented to the public by press and radio make it exceedingly difficult for the man in the street to reach a clear appraisement of the situation. It is virtually impossible at this distance to grasp at all the real significance of the situation."Thirty years after Marshall made his address, as my class graduated without me, technology was emerging that would make the world smaller, more open, more visible, less distant. The emergence of low-cost personal computers gave rise to a powerful network that has transformed opportunities for learning and communicating. The magical thing about this network is not just that it collapses distance and makes everyone your neighbor. It also dramatically increases the number of brilliant minds we can have working together on the same problem – and that scales up the rate of innovation to a staggering degree. At the same time, for every person in the world who has access to this technology, five people dont. That means many creative minds are left out of this discussion -- smart people with practical intelligence and relevant experience who dont have the technology to hone their talents or contribute their ideas to the world. We need as many people as possible to have access to this technology, because these advances are triggering a revolution in what human beings can do for one another. They are making it possible not just for national governments, but for universities, corporations, smaller organizations, and even individuals to see problems, see approaches, and measure the impact of their efforts to address the hunger, poverty, and desperation George Marshall spoke of 60 years ago.Members of the Harvard Family: Here in the Yard is one of the great collections of intellectual talent in the world. What for? There is no question that the faculty, the alumni, the students, and the benefactors of Harvard have used their power to improve the lives of people here and around the world. But can we do more? Can Harvard dedicate its intellect to improving the lives of people who will never even hear its name?Let me make a request of the deans and the professors – the intellectual leaders here at Harvard: As you hire new faculty, award tenure, review curriculum, and determine degree requirements, please ask yourselves:Should our best minds be dedicated to solving our biggest problems?Should Harvard encourage its faculty to take on the worlds worst inequities? Should Harvard students learn about the depth of global poverty … the prevalence of world hunger … the scarcity of clean water …the girls kept out of school … the children who die from diseases we can cure?Should the worlds most privileged people learn about the lives of the worlds least privileged? These are not rhetorical questions – you will answer with your policies. My mother, who was filled with pride the day I was admitted here –never stopped pressing me to do more for others. A few days before my wedding, she hosted a bridal event, at which she read aloud a letter about marriage that she had written to Melinda. My mother was very ill with cancer at the time, but she saw one more opportunity to deliver her message, and at the close of the letter she said: "From those to whom much is given, much is expected."When you consider what those of us here in this Yard have been given – in talent, privilege, and opportunity – there is almost no limit to what the world has a right to expect from us.In line with the promise of this age, I want to exhort each of the graduates here to take on an issue – a complex problem, a deep inequity, and become a specialist on it. If you make it the focus of your career, that would be phenomenal. But you dont have to do that to make an impact. For a few hours every week, you can use the growing power of the Internet to get informed, find others with the same interests, see the barriers, and find ways to cut through them.Dont let complexity stop you. Be activists. Take on the big inequities. It will be one of the great experiences of your lives. You graduates are coming of age in an amazing time. As you leave Harvard, you have technology that members of my class never had. You have awareness of global inequity, which we did not have. And with that awareness, you likely also have an informed conscience that will torment you if you abandon these people whose lives you could change with very little effort. You have more than we had; you must start sooner, and carry on longer.Knowing what you know, how could you not?And I hope you will come back here to Harvard 30 years from now and reflect on what you have done with your talent and your energy. I hope you will judge yourselves not on your professional accomplishments alone, but also on how well you have addressed the worlds deepest inequities …on how well you treated people a world away who have nothing in common with you but their humanity.Good luck. 4david brooks writes today that there are large class differences in parenting styles. these different parent styles may explain the continued success of the upper class. hey, this fits in very well into the parenting theme week at 11d. thanks, davey. (and thanks, jeremy, for the early morning e-mail.)david picks up on the work of annette lareau who finds that although working class children are more innocent and enjoy more freedom, they havent been prepared for economic success as well as upper class kids.(i have copied the whole article below the flap. take that, times select)the funny thing about academics is that although they are highly educated, they are poorly paid. they are socio-economic anomalies. they either reside as the poor shlubs in wealthy neighborhoods or as the weirdoes in working class towns. we’ve been the class outsiders for my whole life, and i’ve had the chance to observe both life styles closely.there are huge differences between the parenting styles between the upper and working class families. poor families respond less quickly to learning problems and are less aggressive with the school bureaucracy. they are less likely to verbally interact with their kids. they are less involved in homework activities. middle and upper class parents are more likely to reward independent thinking. all those factors will definitely impact on their kids’ futures.but i hope that brooks and his pet academic aren’t insinuating that parenting styles alone impact on a child’s economic success. way too many other factors there. poor families are also likely to live in towns withpoorer schools. peers will be more troubled. the poor families will be coping with a variety of problems that make it hard to be good parents – financial stress, drug and alcohol problems, lack of health care, depression. and really smart kids can in many instances over come all that and succeed, though even the smart ones still face obstacles. i would love to know if the researchers controlled for all that.these parenting differences also don’t negate our obligation to helping these groups reach their potential.that said, i’m sure that parenting styles are one factor among many that determine a child’s socio-economic future. my kid is already on such a different path from some of his buddies from school. at six years old, their futures are already written on their faces.what i would like to do is to take the best parts of both parenting practices. somehow combine the respect for adults, the freedom, and the innocence of working class homes with the value for education, the aggressive independence, and confidence of the upper class. it’s a tricky line to navigate, but that’s what i’m going for. 5my dear mr. and misses, my fellows schoolmates, good morning! as you know and see, it is a sunny bump harvest season. in the city, in our school campus, everywhere is surrounded with roses which we together planted 4 years ago. today may these roses and our friendship as well be together and comfort our excited hearts!it was four years ago that everyone of us came from every part of china and formed a new collective. as we are young, it’s very easy for us to communicate. it was in the past four years that we were ambitious. it was in the past four years that we worried. it was in the past four years that we were content. it was in the past four years that we were vexed. it was in the past four years that we were friendly and lonely ... and it was in the past fours that we studied, lived and respected each other with genuine and with our ambitions. nothing in the world is more significant than we miss all of these.。
Graduation Ceremony SpeechDear graduates, distinguished guests, faculty members, parents, and friends, today is a day of celebration and reflection as we gather here for the graduation ceremony. This is a momentous occasion that marks the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. As we stand on the threshold of a new chapter in our lives, let us take this opportunity to look back on our journey with gratitude and look forward with hope and enthusiasm.Reflection on the PastFirst and foremost, I would like to congratulate each and every one of you on reaching this significant milestone. The years of late-night study sessions, challenging exams, and endless assignments have finally paid off. We have grown not only academically but also personally, developing resilience, critical thinking skills, and a thirst for knowledge.During our time at this institution, we have formed lifelong friendships, nurtured talents, and discovered new passions. We have been guided by dedicated professors who have imparted wisdom, inspired creativity, and instilled in us a sense of purpose. We have faced setbacks and obstacles, but we have overcome them with determination and perseverance.Looking to the FutureAs we prepare to embark on the next phase of our lives, let us remember the lessons we have learned and the values we hold dear. Let us use the knowledge and skills we have acquired to make a positive impact on the world around us. Let us strive for excellence, uphold integrity, and embrace diversity. The road ahead may be daunting, filled with uncertainties and challenges. But let us not be discouraged by the obstacles that lie ahead. Let us embrace the unknown with courage and optimism, knowing that we are equipped with the tools to succeed. Let us dream big, set ambitious goals, and work tirelessly to achieve them.Gratitude and AcknowledgementOn this special day, we must also express our gratitude to all those who have supported us along the way. To our parents, who have sacrificed so much to provide us with the best education possible, we owe a debt of gratitude that can never be fully repaid. To our professors, who have challenged and inspired us, we express our deepest appreciation for their dedication and guidance. We must also acknowledge the efforts of our classmates, who have shared in our joys and sorrows, and have stood by us through thick and thin. Together, we have formed a tight-knit community that will always hold a special place in our hearts.ConclusionIn conclusion, as we bid farewell to this chapter of our lives and look towards the horizon of new beginnings, let us remember the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:。

1. steve jobs史蒂芬·乔布斯stanford university 斯坦福大学june 12, 20052005年6月12日remembering that you are going to die is the best way i know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. you are already naked. there is noreason not to follow your heart.
2. david foster wallace大卫·福斯特·华莱士novelist小说家kenyon college 肯尼恩学院may 21, 2005 2005年5月21日there are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, “morning, boys. hows the water?” and the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, “what the hell is water?”... simple awareness; awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over:“this is water.”“this is water.”it is unimaginably hard to do this, to stay conscious and alive in the adult world day in and day out.
3. michael uslan迈克尔·奥斯兰movie producer 电影制片人indiana university 印第安纳大学may 06, 2006 2006年5月6日you must believe in yourself and in your work. when our first batman movie broke all those box-office records, i received a phone call from that united artists exec who, years before, had told me i was out of my mind. now he said, “michael, im just calling to congratulate you on the success of batman. i always said you were a visionary.” you see the point here — dont believe them when they tell you how bad you are or how terrible your ideas are, but also, dont believe them when they tell you how wonderful you are and how great your ideas are. just believe in yourself and youll do just fine. and, oh yes, dont then forget to market yourself and your ideas. use both sides of your brain.you must have a high threshold for frustration. take it from the guy who was turned down by every studio in hollywood. you must knock on doors until yourknuckles bleed. doors will slam in your face. you must pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and knock again. its the only way to achieve your goals in life.
