Eugene A.Nida, in his book namedLanguage and Culture Contexts in translatingpoints out the least understood paradox of translating is the general assumption that a person who knows two language well can be a good translator or interpreter, knowing two language is not enough, it’s also essential to be acquainted the translation principles including ideology, accuracy and reader orientation. My paper adds political awareness to the translation principles. Nida also holds that the most different texts to translate are not, however, highly literary productions, but rather those texts which say nothing, the type of language often used by politicians and delegates to international forums, so it’s highly necessary that this paper is produced with the aim at solving problems of translation of political texts related to what Nida puts forward above.

In his bookCulture and Translation, Song Rongjiang holds that when we translate some words with Chinese characteristics into English, we cannot easily find appropriate and equivalent ones in any dictionary. The reason is there are differences betweenChinaand English speaking countries in historical and cultural background, political and economic systems and social ideology etc. So according to linguistic feature of English, translators need to create English expression which are not only in keeping with our county’s culture and thought method, but also coincide with English characters to make the western people knowing better our language.
This paper also absorbs a lot from books writing written by foreign experts. Newmark calls political texts as authoritative statements, including political speeches, documents by ministers or party leaders, statutes and legal documents, scientific philosophical and academic works written by acknowledged authorities. Meanwhile, in his bookAbout TranslationNewmark believes that there is not enough straight translation of political texts in the press and elsewhere. The originals are often concealed in the target language versions for political reasons. He holds that political language’s main use of acronyms for the titles of political parties and organizations. The translation is development on contextual factors: the motivation, and linguistic and cultural level of the readership, the style of the setting, the importance in the SL culture of the referent.

There is a conflict between China English andChinglishin the process of translation of political texts. ZhuangYizhuan, in his bookE-C Translation a Brief Course, points out thatChinglishis often seen in English translation published in Chinese publications. There are two reasons for this phenomenon: 1 the translators try to give a word-for-word rendering for lack of a thorough understanding of the original; 2 they follow the Chinese collocation and sentence structure without paying enough attention to the features of the English language. On the basis of zhuang’s theory, this paper will compare China English withChinglishto serve the English translation of political texts. When it comes toChinglish, Zhao Yushan, in his bookChinese English and Translation of Current affairs’ teams, explains that the translation of political texts from China English perspective. He thinks that we should avoidChinglishin the process of translation. He also points out that we must understand deeply the connotation of political terms and cannot add and delete words at random. In his article, Zhao distinguishesChinglishfrom China English with Chinese characteristics which supplies my paper with many references.
