Cindy is now teaching English at school in shanghai.
She is a ten-year-old girl. ―My students are five, six or
seven years old,‖ says Cindy. ―They are all good
children.‖
Cindy is a beautiful girl with brown hair. She and her
brother are in shanghaiing with their mother. A school
invites Cindy to teach there on Saturdays and Sundays.
Cindy likes China and her work.. She works very hard.
But she misses her friends in the USA, ―Here my friends
at my age can’t speak English. They can only say, ―How

1 For years, Gac Filipaj mopped floors, cleaned toilets and took out trash at Columbia University.
A refugee from war-torn Yugoslavia, he made a living working for the Ivy League school since
1993. But Sunday, May 13, 2012, was payback time: The 52-year-old janitor put on a cap and
gown to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in classics.
2 As a Columbia employee, he didn’t have to pay for the classes he took. His favorite subject was
the Roman philosopher and statesman Seneca, the janitor said to the Associated Press reporter
during a break from his work at the student union building he cleans. “(1) I love Seneca’s letters
because they’re written in the spirit in which I was educated in my family — not to look for fame
and fortune, but to have a simple, honest, honorable life,” he said.
Reading Report (一)
The book I am reading is Robinson Crusoe. During last four weeks, I
finished the first part of my reading plan. There, I will introduce the author, the
background of the novel, the book's simple introduction and details of this
single part.
一. About author and the book
Daniel Defoe, born in 1660 and died in 1731, the British writer, news
reporter. British desert island literature representative writer, the founder of
realistic novel in the Enlightenment, known as the "father of Britain and the
European novels".
Robinson Crusoe mainly through his
personal hard work, rely on his own
wisdom and courage to overcome difficulties. His masterpiece the Robinson Crusoe is
well known in the world, and Robinson became the typical model to struggle with
difficulties, so he was regarded as one of the pioneers in English novels.
