1. A summary is the gist of main theme of a piece of writing expressed is as few words as possible. It should be clearly, brief, and complete, with all the essential points included, so that the general effect of the original is achieved.
2. uses of summary-writing:⑴ summary writing enables people to get more out of their reading.⑵ summary-writing is also a very good exercise.⑶ summary-writing has great practical value.
3.criteria of a good composition:一篇好作文的标准:① something interesting and or important ②something new ③And this “something”is expressed clearly, accurately, and appropriately.

Rules for writing outlines: to sum up, we should avoid single subdivis ions; avoid mixing sentences and phrases in an outline; make sure that subheads of the same rank ( for example, A, B, and C) are of equal importance, are related to the headings I, II, and III, and are arranged in logical order; and always write the thesis in one complete sentence.
