1The Opening Ceremony 开幕式2Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremony 北京2008奥运开幕式An Unforgettable Show 一场令人难忘的表演The 2008 Beijing Olympics began officially on Friday 8th August 2008 at 8pm in front of a crowd of 90,000 eager spectators in the Bird's Nest stadium.Things got off to a bang with an initial firework display which lit up Beijing's skyline , followed by a total of 2,008 energetic drummers beating a countdown .Then the crowd was treated to an amazing sequence of intricately-choreographed , beautifully-lit vignettes which took them through 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture.After these performances, it was time for the athletes themselves to takecentre stage . In keeping with tradition, Olympic founders Greece led the 204 competing nations into the stadium.China's 639 athletes entered last behind towering flag bearer Yao Ming, to a thunderous reception from the crowd.Finally, the cauldron was lit by a jet of fire from Chinese Olympic hero Li Ning, who had been hoisted up to the roof of the stadium on wires.China, of course, was not alone in watching the opening ceremony. British newspaper The Guardian said the show "outdid all of its predecessors in numbers, colour, noise and expense."The Financial Times was equally impressed. "No country ever has – or surely will – match the Chinese in effort, human power, synchronicity , ingenuity and, it has to be said, money they were willing to put into what was once a little show."No pressure on the next Olympic host city then! With just four years to go, the London Olympic organisers have promised to deliver an equally inspirational ceremony. The Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony 2008 is not a peaceful year for China, we suffered much pain from cold disaster and Wen Chuan earthquake. However, we Chinese people still welcomed the Olympic flame with the strong optimistic state of mind.When it comes to the Beijing Olympic Games, I have to chat about the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony not only comforted our spirit but also gave us a lot of courage. The opening ceremony consisted of music, dancing, traditional opera and all kinds of art forms in China.China is a country of ancient and mysterious culture, which is famous for the Great Wall, the four great inventions, calligraphy, wash painting, Chinese opera, classical dance, tea culture and so on.How to combine those various of artistic content with the Olympic spirit is a difficult problem. The well-know director Zhang Yimou and his team completed this job and build a colorful audio-visual feast to the audiences from all over the world.I will describe the opening ceremony in my memory, and introduce the programs which impressed me the most.19:50，with the cheerful melody, the country＇s leaders including president Hu Jintao, the Former President of the International Olympic Committee Samaranch and the Olympic Committee organization personnel going to the podium, waving to the audience. And the crowd burst into thunderous applause.Welcoming FireworksThe magical light of Olympic went through the historical space and time, arrived at the ancient Oriental land, and burst out enormous energy. Suddenly, ancient and modern, western and eastern were tightly linked together. Fireworks bloomed in the sky and the whole stadium looked like gorgeous flowers. Anyway, the ‘big footprints’ are the most colorful and attractive fireworks which I think.The ‘big footprints’ went though Tian An Men Square, all the way to north. In the end, the ‘big footprints’ turned into falling stars and then gathered into a gleaming fantasy five rings.Picture ScrollThe audience was surprised when the picture scroll opened slowly. Patterns of the picture scroll contain the origin and development of Chinese culture. The rock art, pottery and bronze ware in the picture showed Chinese history and culture. Paper-making technique is one of the four great inventions of ancient China; rock art is the precious cultural heritage which ancestor left to future generations; pottery is ancient arts and crafts in China; and the bronze ware is such a contribution which Chinese people made to human civilization.Chinese CharactersConfucius disciples sang loudly with the bamboo slips in their hands on the bigstage and the typography performances one after another were similar to the Movable type carriage in ancient times and the computer keyboard in modern times. Chinese characters are one of the most antiquity words in the world which carry the Chinese civilization of long standing history.Chinese OperaThis is the percussion performance of Chinese traditional Peking Opera, the passionate drums, the lively music and the Warrior figures with red waving flags pull people＇s thoughts to the distant past. China has the vast territory, traditional opera of long history and many dialects, as a result, Chinese opera has spawned hundreds of varieties, and the Peking Opera is one of the most famous opera in china.The StarsThe young pianist Lang lang and a five-year-old girl played the wonderful music together, just like throwing a lovely star into the silent night sky. They used the romantic melodies, ushered in the new era. Ancient scroll extended in the boundless starlight, it told people that the broad roads today are more beautiful than before. The color from black to white Showed contemporary florid style, a lovely kite appeared in the sky when a thousand actors built up a ‘bird nest’. The boundless starlight and the romantic melody were the symbol of Happy and harmonious life.One World One Dream‘You and Me, from one world, we are family, travel one dream, a thousan d miles, meeting in Beijing, come together, put your hand in mine…’. The theme song "you and me" by Liu huan and British singer Sarah Brightman rang out when thousands of volunteers and children went into the venue. The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games spent a whole year to collect all those participants. At the same time, 2008 smiling face of fireworks appeared in the sky, and the theme of "One world, one dream" suddenly emerged in front of everyone again.At last, the Athletes from 204 countries and regions began to enter to the stadium, the last one delegation is china, and the standard-bearer of Chinese is the basketball star Yao Ming. The audiences burst into thunderous applause, the cheering was unceasi ngly, and the shouts of ‘china come on’ continued for a long time.In a word, I’m impressed deeply by the opening ceremony.
