Introduction:

1. Violations:

1.1 Traveling: Traveling occurs when a player takes more

than two steps without dribbling the ball. This results in a

turnover, and possession of the ball is awarded to the opposing

team.

1.2 Double Dribble: Double dribble occurs when a player

stops dribbling the ball and then starts dribbling again, or

when a player dribbles with two hands simultaneously. This is

also a violation, resulting in a turnover.

1.3 24-Second Violation: NBA games have a shot clock, which

requires the offensive team to attempt a shot within 24 seconds.

Failing to do so results in a 24-second violation, and the ball

is given to the opposing team.

1.4 8-Second Violation: In the NBA, teams have 8 seconds to

advance the ball past the half-court line after gaining

possession. Failure to do so leads to an 8-second violation,
