第六组(见学用活页P69)Ⅰ.阅读理解AFew of us haven't read Cinderella, the story of a young woman living in poverty who meets the prince of her dreams. Some might not want to admit it, but there is a hidden Cinderella in everyone's heart—we all wish we could achieve recognition or success after a period of obscurity(默默无闻).Mary Santiago has that secret dream, too. Her story is featured in Another Cinderella Story, a film set in a US high school.Mary is shy but loves to dance. Compared with other girls, she is invisible. However, her world changes completely when a famous teenager pop singer, Joey Parker, appears.Joey has everything the rest of the boys in her class don't have—kind, handsome and desirable. Mary and Joey's paths cross at a ball. They meet and fall in love with each other. But when Mary has to rush back home, she leaves behind her MP3 player, which becomes the only clue Joey has to find the girl of his dreams. Of course, there is a wicked stepmother, who turns out to be Dominique Blatt and she takes in Mary after her dancer mother dies. Dominique treats Mary like a maid and does everything she can to make sure Mary doesn't get into the top dance school. Her two daughters are equally determined to stop Joey falling for Mary, even if that means embarrassing her.The story, though it mostly follows Cinderella, does add a few modern-day twists to the classic fairy tale. Refreshingly, the film, unlike many high school films, does not focus on looks, although the actors are all beautiful. There is also a lot less materialism in Another Cinderella Story than in many similar movies.“The movie takes the Cinderella fairy tale as its jumping-off point,” writes movie critic Amber Wilkinson. “Yet the focus is firmly on following your dreams.”体裁:应用文题材:介绍说明主题:影评语篇导读:本文讲述的是一部以灰姑娘的童话故事为蓝本的新电影Another Cinderella Story。
第三组(见学用活页P63)Ⅰ.阅读理解ADear Max,Your mother and I don't yet have the words to describe the hope you give us for the future.…We believe all lives have equal value, and that includes the many more people who will live in future generations than live today. Our society has an obligation to invest now to improve the lives of all those coming into this world, not just those already here.Curing disease will take time. Over short periods of five or ten years, it may not seem like we're making much of a difference. But over the long term, seeds planted now will grow, and one day, you or your children will see what we can only imagine: a world without suffering from disease. Our hopes for your generation focus on two ideas: advancing human potential and promoting equality.Today your mother and I are committing to spend our lives doing our small part to help solve these challenges. I will continue to serve as Facebook's CEO for many, many years to come, but these issues are too important to wait until you or we are older to begin this work. By starting at a young age, we hope to see compounding benefits throughout our lives. As you begin the next generation of the Chan Zuckerberg family, we also begin the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to join people across the world to advance human potential and promote equality for all children in the next generation. Our initial areas of focus will be personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities. We will give 99% of our Facebook shares—currently about $45 billion—during our lives to advance this mission. We know this is a small contribution compared to all the resources and talents of those already working on these issues. But we want to do what we can, working alongside many others.
阅读理解AIf a sitcom(情景喜剧)that lasts for 10 years is considered popular, then surely one that still arouses emotions after 20 years must be considered a classic. Friends first aired in the US in 1994, telling about six young men and women in New York. Since then, it's become one of the most famous titles in the sitcom style, and aired in over 100 countries and regions in the world. The show is typical among those who grew up in the 1990s because it explores basic yet important themes like friendship, struggling to survive in a big city, and finding independence and identity, all of which are still relevant to young audiences today.Against the background of the Internet age, IT staff who were once marginalized(排斥) and laughed at have been brought back to life due to the popularity of hit show The Big Bang Theory, in which four talents lacking normal social skills make an attempt at living on a college campus. At the same time, Gossip Girl, describing a young cast of New Yorkers born with silver spoons in their mouths, showing the difficulties upper-class adolescents experience. 第五组(见学用活页P67)Ⅰ.阅读理解AMy students often tell me that they don't have “enough time” to do all their schoolwork. My reply is often a brief “You_have_as_much_time_as_the_president.”I tell them that “not enough time” is not an acceptable explanation of not getting something done.Once in graduate school, I tried to prove to one of my professors by saying that I was working hard. His answer to me was, “That's irrelevant(无关的). What's important is the quality of your work.”If you analyze the matter, you can identify two parts of the problem: There is, of course, the matter of “time”,which we can think of as fixed. Then there is the problem of “work” during that time. But, as my professor suggested, it's not how hard one works but the quality of the product that's important. That led me to a new idea: the quality of the work. That concept is perhaps best explained by a sign I once saw on the wall in someone's office:“Don't work harder. Work smarter.” There is a lot of sense in that idea.If you can't get more time, the only solution is to improve the quality of the work. That means thinking of ways to get more out of the same time than we might otherwise get. That should lead us to an analysis of our work habits. Since “work”for students usually means “homework”,the expression “work habits” should be read as “study habits”.Then, as a smart student, you will seek to improve those skills that you use in study, chiefly reading and writing. If you learn to read better and write better, there are big benefits that pay off in all your studies.体裁:议论文题材:文化教育主题:事半功倍语篇导读:人们经常抱怨时间不够用,但每个人每天所拥有的时间是相同的。

I don't know what it's going to be. It might be sports or science or reading or 6.telling(tell) stories—it doesn't matter what it is. Some of us love Game of Thrones, while others love Star Wars. But we all love those things so much that we travel 7.thousands(thousand) of miles—which is 8.probably(probable) easy for you, but we're still using fossil fuels, so it's difficult—to be around people who love the things that we love the way that we love them. 2021届全国卷英语二轮复习题型混合练(6)一、Our dog Sandy is a golden retriever (寻回犬). Once we performed an experiment to see how keen his nose was. There was one particular pile that must have had hundreds of sticks. We picked up one stick carved an X on it, walked away from the pile and then threw it back into the pile, not once but a dozen times into the pile. It was impossible for us to tell with any certainty which slick we had originally chosen. Each time he brought back that stick, It wasn’t the shape or the size or the look of the stick that he used to pick it out from all the others. It was the smell we left on the stick. It is hard to imagine, hut for dogs every living creature has its own distinctive smell. The noses of people have about 5 million cells that sense smell. Dogs' noses have anywhere from 125 to 300 million cells. Moreover, these cells are closer to the surface than cells in our noses, and more active. It has been estimated that dogs such as Sandy have noses that are a million times more sensitive tha n ours. Clothes that we haven’t worn for weeks, and places we’ve only touched lightly indicate our presence to dogs. His ears are also remarkable. He can hear sounds that humans can’t and at distances which are astonishing. It is over our head to know and understand that world. Yet we have the advantage of being able to imagine what his experience is like, though he probably doesn’t think too much about how we see the world. The environment is the world that all living things share. Living creatures are born into the environment and are part of it. Yet there is no creature who perceives (感知到) all of what is and what happens. For a dog like Sandy a book isn’t much different than a stick, whereas for us one stick is pretty much like every other stick. There is no one world experienced by all living creatures.1.Why did the author conduct the experiment?A. To train Sandy to pick out sticks.B. To show how fast Sandy found sticks.C. To prove sensitivity of Sandy’s nose.D. To teach Sandy to tell different smells.2.What does the author intend to do in paragraph 2?A. Support the conclusion with numbers.B. Summarize the previous paragraph.C. Provide some advice for the readers.D. Introduce a new topic for discussion.3.What does the underlined idiom in paragraph 3 mean?A. Amazing.B. Difficult.C. Reasonable.D. Inconvenient.4.Which of the following best expresses the authors opinion in the last paragraph?A. Worlds to experience.B. An environment to share.C. No environment, no creatures.D. One environment, many worlds.二、根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

After a long day, Zhang Tian finally got back to his small room, feeling tired. He had started working at seven in the morning, and it was eight in the evening now. He had to prepare his lessons for the following day. This is a typical day for Zhang Tian. Coming to Guizhou Province to teach has been quite an experience for him.Zhang Tian graduated from university and got a teacher’s certificate last year. His parents, like most, hoped he would go to a big city to find a teaching job. Likewise, his friends all left his hometown for work in Shanghai or Beijing. Zhang Tian felt differently, however. He wanted to start a new lifestyle. He had met wonderful teachers from small villages during his early school years and he was inspired by them to go and teach where he was needed the most. For that reason he applied for and became a volunteer teacher in a village school. Bringing with him lots of books, clothes, and two pairs of trainers, Zhang Tian travelled to the village with an eager heart. He imagined all sorts of exciting things about living independently and teaching in a village. However, not everything lived up to Zhang Tian’s hopes. The school had just three teachers and Zhang Tian was the only English teacher. The other two local teachers were responsible for maths and Chinese. The school was much smaller than he had expected, with only three classrooms. In front of the classrooms, there was a playground which got dusty on windy days and muddy on rainy days. Living in the village was also more challenging than he had thought. The power and water supplies were unstable, so he could only shower every three or four days, and he had to learn how to cook. The thought of leaving once flashed through his mind.Zhang Tian’s first service year is almost over.组合练(二)Ⅰ.Dear Jack,Knowing that you’re interested in our school’s Innovative Lantern Show, I’m writing to share something about it.Last Saturday evening, hundreds of lighted lanterns, all of which were students’ self-made works, were hanging between the trees on campus, getting viewers into a fantastic world. (2021·山东泰安二模)It was going to be my first day at Rainbow Middle School. Everyone else was coming back from winter holiday, but I was going to be new in this school. After getting out of my mother’s car, I looked around and noticed that kids were gathering around in the hallways with their friends, whispering and giggling. Not knowing anyone and having nowhere to go, I decided to just wait outside until the bell rang.I was standing outside Mrs Everett’s classroom reading a novel named Oliver Twist, when I glanced back to find someone looking over my shoulder.“Are you new here? Anyway, I absolutely love the novel! It’s one of my favourite novels. By the way, I’m Macy!” the girl said.I was about to answer when the bell cut me off. Shyly, I entered the classroom to find Mrs Everett smiling and she led me to a seat. Once everyone came in and sat down, Mrs Everett called me up to the front and introduced me to the class. As I scanned their faces, I noticed that they looked bored and didn’t seem to care about me. I returned to my seat and listened to the teacher for the rest of the class. The lunch bell rang and I got out of the classroom, checking my backpack for my lunch. Scanning the lunch tables, I was nervously wondering where I should sit when I saw Macy approaching me.“Hey, if you want, you can come and sit with us.” Macy offered as she pointed to a pink table near the classrooms. Feeling happy, I glanced over where she was pointing and followed her over. Suddenly, my shoelace untied at that moment. Then I knocked into Macy and dropped my lunchbox. I said sorry and picked up my lunchbox. With my head low, I was afraid the other girls at the table would laugh at me.To my surprise, they started comforting me.After school, I waited for my mother to pick me up at the school gate.组合练(一)Ⅰ.Learning A New SkillThis summer, I decided to learn photography, and it turned out to be an amazing experience.Having researched different cameras and techniques, I enrolled in an online course to learn the basics of composition and lighting. "The tracks usually contain fresh cells, and the DNA is intact because of the cold' storage' temperature,"said Dr.Melanie Lancaster of the World Wide Fund, lead author. The scientists collected snow from individual tracks made by Alaskan polar bears in the wild. Additional materials like hair and saliva(唾液)were sampled, confirming that the tracks provided accurate genotype(基因型)24 wild polar bear tracks were sampled. The researchers melted and filtered the snow to collect environmental DNA,then carried out micro-satellite analysis.Although the concentrations (浓度)of DNA taken from trucks sampled in the wild were very low,13 of the wild polar bear samples could be genotype, identifying 12 different individuals. This technique has huge potential to inform conservation of these animals,to better understand their populations and behavior.Although the sampling has a lower success rate, ease of collection means that it can significantly expand sample sizes."We hope this method will be taken up by the polar bear research community, with the involvement of hunters, volunteers, and local communities,as a new way to collect information on polar bears,"said Lancaster."We also hope the method will be expanded to other animals living in snowy environments."28.Why do scientists develop the new method?A To improve the environment in the Aretic.B.To protect humans from the polar bears attack.C.To find solutions to global climate change.D.0To gather essential data for monitoring polar bears.29.What does the underlined word"intact"mean in paragraph 2?A.Unknown.B.Undamaged.C.Unusual.D.Unstable.30.What did the scientists do in the study?A.They tracked and caught polar bears in the wild.B.They recorded the bears' behaviors with cameras. They analyzed DNA from polar bears' snowy footprints.D.They compared the polar bears' genotype with other animals?.31.What is Lancaster's attitude toward the method?A.Disapproving.B.Favorable.C.Uncertain.D.Suspicious.DWhat do you see in the image? The image can be challenging to interpret, and most people need a clue to see the pattern. It shows a Dalmatian dog.An interesting aspect of this experience is that once you've perceived the pattern, you can't unset the dog.Whether we like it or not,our brains look for patterns in various contexts.Much of our everyday understanding is linked to the concepts we lean in school and through interaction with others. On top of this, there are learned cultural patterns to interpret works of art, music, poems, etc.Once we know the patterns, they profoundly influence how we perceive cultural products. So we see the world through patterns we have acquired. These patterns can be applied in all forms of teaching. The great benefit of seeing a pattern in an area of knowledge is that it can be applied to new problems.A student who has understood a pattern can not only answer questions taken directly from the learning material but can use it in other types of tasks. The key question, therefore,is how a student can discover the relevant patterns and create real understanding. There are different ways to highlight patterns.Analogies(类比)are powerful tools for creating understanding. An example is the number line(数轴)in elementary mathematics. When children learn addition,it is easy for concrete combinations of objects:three apples plus two apples make five apples. The same is true for subtraction(减法):If you have six apples and remove four, you are left with two.But this doesn't work when it comes to negative numbers. How do you explain that if you have three apples and remove five, two are missing? Then,an effective analogy is to see the number line as something you walk along—the line becomes a path.Addition with three is like walking three steps forward, and subtraction with five is like walking five steps backward. No wonder that if you walk three steps forward and then five steps back, you are two steps behind where you started. In this way,the negative numbers acquire a meaning rooted in experience.More patterns of numbers can now be understood.32.What is the second paragraph mainly about?A.The underlying effect of patterns.B.The ability to acquire the art skills.C.The way to find the Dalmatian dog.D.The benefit of interacting with others.33.Why should patterns be used in education?A.It is easy for students to master them.B.All types of tasks have the same pattern.C.They can help students solve new problems.D.They are the necessary learning materials.34.What does the example in paragraph 4 and paragraph 5 suggest?A.There are different ways to acquire experience.B.Analogies are good methods for teaching patterns.C.Addition is much easier than subtraction in maths.D.The number line can solve all mathematics problems.35.What is the best title of the text?A.Understanding Is Seeing a Pattern.B.The Best Principle for LearningC.Walking Back and Forth on a Number Line.ing Patterns to Learn Mathematics第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项。

BDyslexia is a learning disorder, and it interferes with the ability to recognize words, and for some readers to understand what they have read. Experts say dyslexia affects about five to ten per cent of the population of the United States. Researchers have long known that people with dyslexia write or read words and letters backwards in the wrong order. But a new study shows that people with dyslexia may have trouble redirecting their attention between senses, from seeing something to hearing something. The study suggests something that might help dyslexic people learn more quickly—play video games.Vanessa Harrar of Britain's University of Oxford led the study. She reported the findings in the journal Current Biology. The study suggests that dyslexic people may have trouble moving quickly from what they read to what they hear.In the study, Doctor Harrar tested 17 people with dyslexia and 19 others without reading problems. The volunteers were asked to push a button as quickly as possible when they heard asound, saw a light or experienced both together. Doctor Harrar compared the speed of their reactions. She found that people with dyslexia were just as fast as the others when they saw only a picture or heard only a sound. But the dyslexics had a slower reaction time when they heard a sound and saw a picture at the same time. This may have an effect on how dyslexic children are taught how to read.Doctor Harrar feels like playing video games could help dyslexic people shift from seeing to hearing more quickly. She adds that images in video games force the eyes to move and focus quickly. “Video game types of things pop out of here and there, they move your eyes around the screen quite quickly in response to things quite quickly, and the more you play a video game the faster you get that kind of thing. So, the video game is really training the attention system to move quickly,”said Harrar. When children learn the alphabet, they usually see the letter first and then hear the sound, or they see and hear the letter at the same time. The study shows that dyslexics might learn more quickly if they hear the sound of a letter or word first before seeing it.体裁:说明文题材:科普知识主题:玩视频游戏可能会帮助诵读困难患者语篇导读:文章具体介绍了诵读困难患者的症状和通过玩视频游戏给他们带来的帮助。
