Introduction:As the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, people around the world bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one with open arms. It is a time of reflection, celebration, and most importantly, setting resolutions for the upcoming year. New Year's resolutions are promises we make to ourselves, aiming to bring positive changes into our lives. In this essay, we will explore the significance of New Year's resolutions and discuss some common resolutions that can help us embark on a journey towards self-improvement.Body:1. The Importance of New Year's Resolutions:Setting resolutions at the beginning of a new year holds great significance in our lives. It allows us to take a step back and evaluate our past actions, accomplishments, and areas for improvement. New Year's resolutions provide us with an opportunity to set goals, make positive changes, and grow as individuals. They give us a sense of direction and purpose, motivating us to strive for personal growth and success.2. Common New Year's Resolutions:While everyone's resolutions may vary based on personal preferences and circumstances, there are some common resolutions that many people tend to set. These include:a) Health and Fitness: One of the most popular resolutions is to adopt a healthier lifestyle. This may involve exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, quitting smoking, or reducing alcohol consumption. By prioritizing our physical well-being, we can improve our overall quality of life.b) Personal Development: Many individuals strive to enhance their skills and knowledge in various areas. This can involve learning a new language, pursuing higher education, attending workshops or seminars, or acquiring new hobbies. Personal development resolutions enable us to expand our horizons and become well-rounded individuals.c) Financial Goals: Setting financial resolutions can help us achieve financial stability and independence. This may include saving a certain amount of money each month, paying off debts, investing wisely, or creating a budget. By managing our finances effectively, we can alleviate stress and work towards a secure future.d) Relationships: Strengthening relationships with family, friends, and loved ones is another common resolution. This can involve spending more quality time with loved ones, resolving conflicts, or being more empathetic and understanding. Nurturing healthy relationships contributes to our overall happiness and well-being.e) Mental Well-being: Taking care of our mental health is crucial for a balanced and fulfilling life. Setting resolutions to practice self-care, meditation, or seeking therapy can help us manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Prioritizing our mental well-being enables us to lead happier and more productive lives.3. Strategies for Achieving Resolutions:Setting resolutions is just the first step; the real challenge lies in sticking to them and achieving our desired outcomes. Here are some strategies that can help us stay committed to our resolutions:a) Setting Realistic Goals: It is important to set achievable goals that are realistic and measurable. Breaking down larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks can make them more attainable and increase our chances of success.b) Creating a Plan: Developing a detailed plan withspecific action steps can keep us focused and motivated. Setting deadlines and tracking progress can help us stay on track and make adjustments if necessary.c) Seeking Support: Sharing our resolutions withfriends or family members can provide accountability and support. Having someone to share our progress, challenges, and successes with can make the journey towards achieving our resolutions more enjoyable and rewarding.d) Embracing Failure as a Learning Opportunity: It is essential to acknowledge that setbacks and failures are a part of any journey towards self-improvement. Instead of giving up, we should view these experiences as learning opportunities and use them to grow stronger and more determined. Conclusion:New Year's resolutions hold immense value in our lives, inspiring us to strive for personal growth and self-improvement. By setting realistic goals, creating actionplans, seeking support, and embracing failures, we can increase our chances of achieving our resolutions. Maybe you resolved to eat healthier or be friendlier. But if you don’t have a plan, how will you know if you’ve reached your goal? Generally, resolutions tend to fade out of your memory. They’ll return again the next year when you start thinking about resolutions again.
Other resolutions fail because they’re not realistic. People either ask too much of themselves, or they pick something they can’t control. The truth is, nothing changes when the clock strikes midnight on December 31. If you want to change, it will be hard whenever you try it. But the good side of that is that you can change your life any time you decide to.另外有些决心则是因为不够实际,以致无法落实。

新概念英语第三册写作:New Year resolutionsNew Year resolutions 新年的决心The New Year is a time for resolutions. Mentally, at least, most of us could compile formidable lists of ‘dos’ and ‘don'ts’. The same old favourites recur year in year out with monotonous regularity. We resolve to get up earlier each morning, eat less, find more time to play with the children, do a thousand and one jobs about the house, be nice to people we don't like, drive carefully, and take the dogfor a walk every day. Past experience has taught us that certain accomplishments are beyond attainment. If we remain inveterate smokers, it is only because we have so often experienced the frustration that results from failure. Most of us fail in our efforts at self-improvement because our schemes are too ambitious and we never have time to carry them out. We also make the fundamental error of announcing our resolutions to everybody so that we look even morefoolish when we slip back into our bad old ways. Aware of these pitfalls, this year I attempted to keep my resolutions to myself. I limited myself to two modest ambitions: to do physical exercises every morning and to read more of an evening. An all-night party on New Year's Eve provided me with a good excuse for not carrying on either of these new resolutions on the first day of the year, but on the second, I applied myself assiduously to the task. The daily exercises lasted only eleven minutes and I proposed to do them early in the morning before anyone had got up. The self-discipline required to drag myself out of bed eleven minutes earlierthan usual was considerable. Nevertheless, I managed to creep down into the living-room for two days before anyone found me out. After jumping about on the carpet and twisting the human frame into uncomfortable positions, I sat down at the breakfast table in an exhausted condition. It was this that betrayed me. The next morning the whole family trooped in to watch the performance. That was really unsettling, but I fended off the taunts and jibes of the family good-humouredly and soon everybody got used to the idea. However, my enthusiasm waned. The time I spent at exercise gradually diminished. Little by little the eleven minutes fell to zero. By January 10th, I was back to where I had started from. I argued that if I spent less time exhausting myself at exercises in the morning, I would keep my mind fresh for reading when I got home from work. Resisting the hypnotizing effect of television, I sat in my room for a few eveningswith my eyes glued to a book. One night, however, feelingcold and lonely, I went downstairs and sat in front of the television pretending to read. That proved to be my undoing, for I soon got back to my old bad habit of dozing off infront of the screen. I still haven't given up my resolutionto do more reading. In fact, I have just bought a bookentitled How to Read a Thousand Words a Minute. Perhaps itwill solve my problem, but I just haven't had time to read it!新年是下决心的时候,至少在绝大部分人的心里会编排出一份“应做什么”和“不应做什么”的令人生畏的单子。

英语作文新年的决心初二越简单越好My New Year's ResolutionsThe new year is coming! I'm so excited for 2024. Every new year is a fresh start and a chance to make some resolutions to become a better person. Resolutions are promises you make to yourself to do something good or stop doing something bad.I've been thinking a lot about what my resolutions should be this year. One of my resolutions is to be kinder to my little brother. Sometimes I get annoyed when he follows me around or wants to play with my toys. But I know I should be nicer and more patient with him. He looks up to me and I'm his big sister. This year I want to set a good example by sharing my things, including him in my games, and using kind words even when I'm upset. I'll try to remember he's just a little kid learning how to behave.Another resolution I have is to take better care of my belongings. My mom is always getting onto me about losing things like my shoes, backpack, water bottle, you name it! I need to work on keeping my room clean and putting away my stuff when I'm done using it. That way I'll know right where everythingis instead of things going missing. I also won't make such a mess for my parents to deal with.My third resolution is to try new foods and not be a picky eater. I have a habit of turning up my nose at vegetables and anything I've never tried before. But I know eating a variety of healthy foods is important for growing big and strong. So in 2024, I'll take a few bites before deciding if I like something new instead of refusing to taste it. Who knows, I may discover some new favorites! Trying an "adventure bite" of unfamiliar foods will be my motto.Making New Year's resolutions is a fun tradition, but the hard part is sticking to them! I'll put up reminders around my room and ask my parents to help encourage me. Maybe they can give me rewards when I follow through, like stickers or my favorite treat.Even if I slip up sometimes, I'll keep trying my best throughout the whole year. Each day is a fresh start to get back on track. I don't need to be perfect, but I do want to work on self-improvement. After all, every year I'm getting older and wiser!I'm looking forward to making 2024 my best year yet by following my resolutions. I bet I'll feel really accomplished when Ithink back in December at how much I've grown. A brand new year is coming - let's make it great!。

英语作文新年的决心初二越简单越好全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1My New Year's ResolutionsThe new year is finally here! I love this time because it means a fresh start and a chance to make some new goals for myself. Every year, my family sits down together on New Year's Eve and we each make a list of resolutions - things we want to try and do better in the upcoming year.My big resolution this year is to be more organized and keep my room clean. I tend to be a bit messy and things often get lost in the clutter on my floor and desktop. My mom is always getting after me to pick up my stuff. "A clean room is a clean mind," she says. I'm not totally sure what that means, but I know having a tidy space would make me feel calmer and more in control. So this year, I'm going to make an effort to put away my toys and books when I'm done using them. I'm going to make my bed every morning before school. And I'm going to do a deep clean of my room once a week, gathering up any stray socks or puzzle pieces and putting them back where they belong. Maybe I'll evengo one step further and get some fun storage bins to help me organize. This will take some hard work, but I think having a neat, clutter-free room will make me feel so much better.Another resolution I have is to spend less time staring at screens. Between TV, video games, and my tablet, I probably spend way too many hours every day looking at a screen. My parents are always bugging me to go outside and get some fresh air and exercise instead of just sitting on the couch. They have a point - too much screen time isn't healthy, especially for kids.So in the new year, I want to commit to limiting my recreational screen time to just an hour or two per day max. Instead, I'll spend more time playing outdoors, riding my bike, or reading books. My brain and body will appreciate the break from the screens. And who knows, I might even discover I really enjoy some outdoor activities that I've been missing out on! Getting fresh air and exercise will help me feel more energetic and positive. My final resolution is to be a better friend. Sometimes I get preoccupied with my own wants and needs, and I don't pay enough attention to how my actions affect others. A good friend is someone who is kind, supportive, trustworthy and thinksabout other people's feelings. Those are all qualities I need to work on.From now on, I'll make an effort to really listen when my friends are talking instead of just waiting for my turn to speak. I'll be considerate of their interests and opinions, not just insisting on doing what I want to do all the time. If I borrow something, I'll return it in good condition. And if I mess up and hurt someone's feelings, I'll own up to it, apologize sincerely, and learn from the mistake. Following through on this resolution will make me a much better friend in the long run. Those are my three main resolutions for the new year - keep my room clean, limit screen time, and be a better friend. Writing them all down like this will help me stay focused and accountable. Of course, resolutions are hard to stick to perfectly. There will probably be times when my room gets a little messy again, or I spend too long zoning out in front of a screen, or I'm not being as thoughtful as I should be toward my friends. That's okay - no one is perfect. The important thing is to keep trying my best. When I look back at the end of this year, I hope I'll be able to say I succeeded more times than I failed. If I can make even a little progress in those three areas, it will make me feel so proudand accomplished. A new year means a new opportunity to build good habits and become a better version of myself. I'm excited to take it on! Let's go 2024!篇2My New Year's ResolutionsThe new year is just around the corner! I love this time because it means a fresh start and a chance to make some new goals for myself. Every year, my family sits down together on New Year's Eve and we each make a list of resolutions - things we want to try to do better in the coming year.Last year, one of my resolutions was to get better at math. I had been struggling with addition and subtraction, so my parents helped me make a plan. We posted math fact flashcards all around the house, and I practiced them for 15 minutes every night before bed. My dad also downloaded some fun math games on his tablet for me to play. Little by little, I got faster and more confident with math. By the end of the year, I was acing my timed math tests at school!Another resolution I made last year was to read more books.I have always loved being read to, but I wanted to get better at reading by myself. My mom took me to the library every week topick out new books. We also started a mother-daughter book club where we would read the same book, then discuss it together over a special snack. Reading got so much more enjoyable when I had someone to talk about the stories with. By summer, I was zipping through chapter books! This year, I have some new resolutions I want to work on. My first one is to try harder in gym class. I find it really hard to run and do jumping jacks and other exercises. My gym teacher is very nice, but she keeps encouraging me to push myself more. So my goal is to give my full effort, even when an activity feels difficult. Maybe I'll start adding some extra jumping jacks or jogs around the block to my routine at home to get stronger. My second resolution is to be more organized. My backpack and bedroom are always such a mess! I lose things constantly, like my homework or my favorite hair clips. This year, I want to work on keeping my areas neat and having a spot for everything. I'm going to make a checklist to do every night before bed, where I tidy up and get ready for the next day. I'll also ask my parents to help me go through my toys and get rid of anything I don't need anymore. My last big goal is to do more of the things I love, like art, dancing, and playing outside. Sometimes I get so caught up withschoolwork that I forget to schedule time for fun. This year, I want to sign up for an art class, where I can learn to draw and paint better. I'll also make a point of going to the playground or my backyard every day after school when the weather is nice. And I'm going to ask my parents if we can turn on music and have little dance parties in our living room on weekends. Balancing responsibilities and joy is so important!I feel really motivated to stick to my resolutions this year. Having goals written down makes me 10 times more likely to actually follow through, according to my dad. Plus, my parents are going to help me track my progress and cheer me on. I'm going to make resolution charts to hang on the fridge, where I can record my successes each week with fun stickers. Any time I get discouraged, I'll just look back at how far I've already come.Making resolutions is one of my favorite traditions. I love dreaming about who I want to be and what I want to achieve. Things always seem so fresh and full of possibility at the start of a new year. With hard work and perseverance, I know this can be my best year yet. I'm ready to take on the world in 2024! Happy New Year everyone!篇3My New Year's ResolutionsThe new year is a special time when we make resolutions. Resolutions are promises to try to do something better in the coming year. I have some exciting resolutions for this new year!My first resolution is to be nicer to my little sister Emma. Sometimes I get annoyed when she follows me around or wants to play with my toys. But she looks up to me and I should be a better big brother. This year, instead of getting mad, I will invite her to play games or read books with me. I will share my toys more and not call her names when she bugs me. Being kind to my sister will make both of us happier.Another resolution I have is to listen better in school. Sometimes my mind wanders off and I miss what my teacher is saying. Then I get confused when it's time to do the work. This year, I will pay closer attention and raise my hand if I don't understand something. Listening carefully will help me learn so much more.I also want to try harder to keep my room clean in the new year. My mom is always nagging me to pick up my clothes, make my bed, and put away my toys and books. Having a messy room stresses her out. From now on, I will spend 15 minutes every daycleaning up after myself. My room will look so much neater! Mom and Dad will be proud of my new tidy habits. My next resolution is to read more books. I love stories about adventures, mysteries, and magic. Reading grows my imagination and vocabulary. This year, I will read one new chapter book every week. Reading for just 20 minutes every night before bed will help me reach my goal. Maybe I can even start a book club with some friends! For my final resolution, I want to get better at math facts. I am pretty good at addition and subtraction, but multiplication and division are hard. This year, I will practice my times tables every day until I know them all the way up to 12 x 12. Knowing my math facts will make the other math we learn so much easier.I can ask my parents or teacher for extra worksheets and flashcards to drill myself.I feel really motivated to work on all of these resolutions in the new year. Keeping resolutions takes discipline and hard work, but the end results are so rewarding. If I slip up sometimes, I won't get discouraged. I'll just remind myself why these goals are important and get back on track.I can't wait to become a kinder brother, a better listener, a neater kid, an avid reader, and a math whiz in this new year!Making positive changes in my life will make me proud of myself. What resolutions will you make? I hope you have a wonderful year full of growth and accomplishments too!。
新概念英语第三册第50课:New Year resolutionsLesson 50 New Year resolutions新年的决心 Listen to the tape then answer the question below.听录音,然后回答以下问题。
What marked the end of the writer's New Year resolutions? The New Year is a time for resolutions. Mentally, at least, most of us could compile formidable lists of 'dos' and 'don'ts'. The same old favorites recur year in year out with monotonous regularity. We resolve to get up earlier each morning, eat less, find more time to play with the children, do a thousand and one jobs about the house, be nice to people we don't' like, drive carefully, and take the dog for a walk every day. Past experience has taught us that certain accomplishments are beyond attainment. If we remain inveterate smokers, it is only because we have so often experienced the frustration that results from failure. Most of us fail in our efforts at self-improvement because our schemes are too ambitious and we never have time to carry them out. We also make the fundamental error of announcing our resolutions to everybody so that we look even more foolish when we slip back into our bad old ways. Aware of these pitfalls, this year I attempted to keep my resolutions to myself. I limited myself to two modest ambitions: to do physical exercise every morning and to read more of an evening. An all-night party on New Year's Eve provided me with a good excuse for not carrying out either of these new resolutions on the first day of the year, but on the second, I applied myself assiduously to the task. The daily exercises lasted only eleven minutes and I proposed to do them early in the morning before anyone had got up. The self-discipline required to drag myself out of bed eleven minutes earlier than usualwas considerable. Nevertheless, I managed to creep down into the living room for two days before anyone found me out. The time I spent at exercises gradually diminished. Little by little the eleven minutes fell to zero. By January 10th, I was back to where I had started from.I argued that if I spent less time exhausting myself at exercises in the morning, I would keep my mind fresh for reading when I got home formwork Resisting the hypnotizing effect of television, I sat in my room for a few evenings with my eyes glued to book. One night, however, feeling cold and lonely, I went downstairs and sat in front of the television pretending to read. That proved to be my undoing, for I soon got back to my old bad habit of dozing off in front of the screen.I still haven't given up my resolution to do more reading. In fact, I have just bought a book entitled How to Read a Thousand Words a Minute. Perhaps it will solve my problem, but I just haven't had time to read it!参考译文新年是下决心的时候,至少在大多数人的心里会编排出一份“应做什么”和“不应做什么”的令人生畏的单子。
New Year’s Resolutions

I want to get great grades next year. How am I going to do that? First of all, of course, I am going to study very hard at school. Second, I am going to save some money from the Spring Festival to buy some books which can obviously help my study. As for study, I hope to get better grades in every subject. To realize it, I am going to
listen to the teachers more carefully and do homework on time every day. What’s more, I’d like to review what I learned after a day learning. Besides, I am determined to read more books, especially the classical ones. From my point of views, it is a good way to enrich my knowledge.
