Control of Emergency Work
1.Purpose
This document defines the procedure to control the emergency work that may be required for exceptional and short-term circumstances.
2.Scope
This document applies to all departments in the factory.
3.Responsibility
3.1Administration Department shall implement this procedure in order to meet the social
accountability requirements and China labor law.
4.Definition
Exceptional circumstances: - examples of exceptional circumstances include the following but not limited to:
-delays in work caused by a natural disaster (e.g. earthquake, flood); by violence; or by some travel accident that affects delivery of essential materials or products.
-repair needed after breakdown.
-possibility of losing orders or business.
Notice: Exceptions are associated with a lack of foreseeability of the situation. However, holiday rush is not an exceptional circumstance.
5.Procedure
Emergency work for exceptional circumstances will be on a strictly voluntary basis and the
following guidelines will govern the use of employees who volunteer to work during their rest period:
5.1.The supervisor or the employee himself/ herself must notify Administration Department
before perform extra or emergency work during his/her rest period. Verbal notification is
acceptable, but official authorization is required after the emergency work is completed.
5.2.An employee may decline a request to perform extra service or emergency work.
NOTE: An employee who is unavailable for emergency work will not be subjected to
disciplinary punishment.
5.3.During the emergency work, breaks should be given to employees in compliance with labor
law.
5.4.If there is a collective bargaining agreement between the worker organization and the
company, it may require emergency work in accordance with such agreement to meet short-
term business demand. Any such agreement must comply with the local laws/ regulations.
5.5.Emergency work is paid in accordance with local laws and at a premium
or alternative day-off should be arranged within 30 days for any rest day on which the
employee is required to work.
6.Records
The following records (if applicable) shall be kept by Administration or Accounting Department for minimum 1 years.

-Emergency work authorization
