I'll admit, I wasn't always awesome about putting bottles and cans in the recycling bin before. My parents are so proud.The unit Reading really opened my eyes to how our daily choices add up when it comes to environmental impact. It's pretty mind-blowing to connect civilian activities to major climate phenomena. But it's also super motivating to learn about all the ways we can lessen our carbon footprint, both big and small.Of course, no unit would be complete without practicing the language skills. There are tons of vocabulary terms related to environmental science and sustainability to wrap our heads around. Stuff like "fossil fuels," "emissions," "deforestation," "conservation," you get the drift. Definite Brain Strain City, but incredibly useful words to know.The writing exercises have us responding to questions and prompts about environmental issues. Let me tell you, trying to coherently explain the effects of rising sea levels in a5-paragraph essay is no joke! I've got a newfound respect for environmental activists and their public speaking abilities.Then there are the listening comprehension activities centered around lectures, interviews and dialogues about the same eco-themes.
